church for their January meeting
with the new president Mrs.

conducted the worship assisted

Jack Brintnell, the theme being
"Pettiness".

Agricultural Society was held
Monday January 19 and
re-elected president John B.

treasurer, P.L. Mc Naughton,
Hensall.
A donation of $100.00 was
voted to the Hensall Recreation
Parks and community Centre
have a pot luck dinner at the
congregational meeting. Mrs.
Harris read the budget for the
coming year,
The study "Reconciliation in
a Broken World" was given by
Mrs. Tom Brintnell. An all day
quilting and pot luck dinner
preceded the meeting.

Amber Rebekah Lodge are,
busy preparing baking for a bake

Parsons each scored once in the
second period while the home
team could only score once.
Lamb scored his third goal of
the night in the third period to

UCW met Monday afternoon..
The president, Mrs. Vern
Alderdice was in charge of the
meeting.
The general meetings will be
held as follows: February 23
with Unit II in charge; May 25
with Unit I in charge; and
September 28 with Unit IV in
charge.
Dates were set for the annual
and Christmas meetings in'
November and December.
A pot luck supper will
precede the annual
congregational meeting, January
28, 6:30 p.m.
Catering prices will remain
the same as last year.
It was announced that
World's Day of Prayer is March
6, and the Presbyterial is
January 28 at Wesley-Willis
United Church, Clinton.
Plans were made for an All
Fool's Day Supper, April 1.

an Indian carver in keeping with
the theme.
Mrs. C.E. Kennedy of Grand
Bend was guest speaker and
presented, the study,

World" with special reference to
poverty. The February meeting
will be held in the afternoon to
work at the church followed by
a pot luck supper.

A. Wesley Engeland, 77,
passed away at South Huron
hospital, Exeter, Thursday,
January 15. Surviving besides his
wife, the former Violet Graybiel,
is one daughter, Joyce (Mrs.
Tom Pinches) London; one
grandson, Brian; one sister, Mrs.
Amelia Willert, Dashwood.
He was a member of Calvary
United church. He farmed on
the 14th concession of Stephen
prior to retiring to Dashwood.
The funeral was held Sunday,
January 18 from the T. Harry
Hoffman funeral home with
Rev. Bruce Guy in charge.
Interment was in Calvary
cemetery. Pallbearers were
Milford Merner, Reinhold Miller,
Ervin Eckstein, Carl Oestreicher,
Milt Haugh and John Heckman,

Byron Desjardine, 39, passed
away at his late residence, RR 2,
Palmerston, Wednesday, January
14. Surviving is his wife, the
former Audrey Bullock; one
daughter, Debrah; one son,
Laverne; his mother, Mrs. Ella
Desjardine, Exeter; one sister,
Mrs. Gerald Mason, Dashwood;
seven brothers, Herman and
Norris, Grand Bend; Ivan and
Ian, Exeter, Harry, Strathroyf
Murton, Tiverton; Keith,
London. Service was held
Monday, January 19 from the T.
Harry Hoffman funeral Home
with Rev, Vincent of London in
charge. Interment was in Grand
spent the weekend in Detroit
with Mr. & Mrs. Frank Mclsaac
and visited Mrs. Lucinda Mclsaac
who is a patient in Bon Secours
Hospital, Detroit having
fractured her hip in a fall. She
underwent surgery Tuesday.
LADIES AID
The January meeting of the
Ladies Aid of Zion Lutheran
church was held Wednesday,
January 14 with group 2 and
Mrs. Charles Martine, convener,
in charge of devotions and
lunch. Many cards of thanks
were received for the 27 boxes
packed at Christmas. The Altar
Guild is Mrs. Lloyd Rader and
Mrs. Valentine Becker.
An invitation from Dashwood
W.I. to accompany them to the
new Dashwood Industries plant
on February 3 was accepted. A
bus trip to Frakenmouth is
planned for the summer. Mrs.
Martha Miller sang a solo.
Rev. Earl Steinman chose as
his topic "According to Your
Faith".
Mr. & Mrs. Valentine Becker
have returned home following an
enjoyable train trip to Roblin,
Manitoba where they visited
with Mr. & Mrs. A.O. Becker and
the Andres family.
Miss Sharon Rader spent the
weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Fred
Miller and girls of Zion.
Twenty-eight senior Lutheran
young people who were
attending a winter weekend at
Grand Bend attended Zion
Lutheran church Sunday
morning.

with only one loss in ten starts.
The Zurich Flyers are at the top
of the heap with an undefeated
record.
The Dashwood and Zurich
clubs meet for the first time in
league play at the Zurich arena,
Friday night at 8.30.
In their latest action the
Bears edged Ripley 12-9. Glenn
Overholt led the Dashwood
scoring attack with a three goal
performance.
