The Lucan-Ilderton Jets
continue to hold a four point
edge in The Ontario Hockey
Association Intermediate "B"
grouping over the second place
Durham Huskies.
The Jets have a season point
goal of 32 but have suffered five
losses to four by the Durham
club.
Friday, the Jets were edged
4-3 by the Elmira Polar Kings in
Elmira and Tuesday night they
downed the Cheltenham
Harvesters 5.1 in a rare away
from home game on Tuesday,
The Jets are now idle until
next Tuesday when they take on
the same Cheltenham team at
Huron Park.
As part of St. Marys Minor
Hockey Day, Saturday, the Jets
downed a St. Marys town all-star
team 12.6.
Jamie Robb continues to lead
the league in scoring with a total
of 61 points while Dave Webster
is second with 51 and playing
coach Jack Nairn of the Jets is
next in line with 46,

front 2-0 in the first period

Jet scoring early.

Cheltenham goal in the third
period to spoil the shut-out bid
by Wayne Parkinson of the Jets,
MILLER IS TOPS
Laverne Miller proved a real
thorn in the sides of the Jets
Friday night in Elmira as he
scored three times to lead the
Polar Kings to their 4.3 win.
Miller notched the winning
goal at 17.47 of the third period
after the clubs had battled on
even terms most of the. way.
Dusty Aldis and Miller
exchanged goals in the first
period while Dave Webster of
the Jets and Joe Grundy of the
home club repeated the script in
the second.
Miller sent the Kings in front
3.2 at 2,42 of the third only to
have Webster knot the count at
7,28 on a play originated by Ken
Loft and Dusty Aldis.
In the 12-6 exhibition win
over the St. Marys and district
all-stars, Jacques Cousineau led
with a four goal effort.
Jamie Robb was next in line
with a hat trick while Bill Neil,
Dusty Aldis, Jim Bender, Ron
The South Huron District
High School wrestling squad has
moved into the lead in the
Huron-Perth Conference with
three straight wins.
The locals edged Listowel
31-27 in the Perth County town,
Friday afternoon and downed
Wingham by a score of 44-20,
Monday afternoon.
Against Listowel, the fastest
pin of the afternoon was
accomplished by Dan
Shoebottorn of the local school
who finished off his Listowel
opponent John Shearer in only
58 seconds of their unlimited
class match,
It was one of Shoebottom's
rare appearances in actual
competition as most of the
schools so far this season have
failed to come up with
opposition in this weight
division,
At the other end of the
scales, Peter Sereda started the
South Huron boys off on the
right foot by pinning Doug
Stone at 1.45 of their 90-pound
match.
The next win for the locals
came in the 106-pound division
with Gerard Charrette disposing
of John Tarbush in two minutes
and twelve seconds.
Mike Miller, of the local
school followed with a 7-1
decision over John Ellison at
130 pounds and team-mate Gary
Gibson pinned George Meyer at
1.58 in a 136-podnd bout,
At 148 pounds, Tom Prout of
SH pinned Listowel's Fred
Burghardht in 5,10 and Morley
Eagleson gained a 2-0 decision
over Dave Willis at 142 pounds.
Other members of the South
Huron team competing against
Listowel were Bill Degroot, Jim
Regier, Doug Geoffrey, Bob
Moore, Dave Cyr and Don
Truemner.
In the win over Wingham, the
South Huron wins were chalked
up by Peter Sereda, Gerard
Charrette, Bill Cameron, Mike
Miller, Gary Lavier, Morley
Eagleson, Dave Cyr and Jim
Morlock.
Morley Eagleson was judged
the best South Huron wrestler
against Listowel while Peter
Sereda took the honors against
Wingham,

Sunday at Huron Park, the
Tigers downed the Kincardine
Bulldogs 6-3 and Tuesday night
they gained a 6-6 tie with the
first place Seaforth Beavers at
the Seaforth arena.
The Tigers travel to Monkton
Friday to take on the Wildcats
and then meet the same club in a
return game at the Huron Park
arena, Sunday night.
CLOSE ALL THE WAY
The game in Seaforth
Tuesday was a close affair all the
way with neither club able to
gain more than a one goal lead at
any time.

The Crediton Tigers have a
firm grip on third place in
Western Ontario Athletic
Association Intermediate "C"
ranks as the result of two wins
and a tie in their last three starts.
The Tigers started off the
week with an almost
unbelievable performance in
Milverton, Friday night.
With newly appointed coach
Bob Morrissey at the helm, the
Tigers with only six players in
uniform downed the high flying
Milverton Four-Wheel Drives
7-4 .

defencemen Joe Regier and Paul
Cronyn and forwards Gary
Parsons, Dennis Morrissey and
Fred Lamb played the entire,
The Exeter squirts journeyed
to Zurich on Sunday for an
exhibition game and were
• defeated 6-5. The boys played
well but lost in the last minute
as Grant Love scored his sixth
goal of the game for Zurich.
Randy Parsons scored three
for Exeter, Danny Bell and, Doug
Hoffman tallied up the singles.
Zurich led 3-0 at the end of
the first period. Exeter
out-scored Zurich 3.1 in the
second, the teams split two goals
each in the third with the
winning goal being scored by
Zurich with 55 seconds left in
the game. Tony Mattucci coach
of the squirts expects a return
game a week from Friday at 7 a o'clock.
In the first novice game
Montreal blanked St. Louis 4-0.
Paul Pooley and Norm McAuley
both scored two goals apiece for
Montreal.
Boston blanked the North
Stars 3-0 in the second game. ▪ Brian Horrell scored twice while
Brad Taylor scored the single
marker for Boston.
In squirt hockey, Jeff Fuller,
Paul Geiser, Doug Hoffman and
Larry Dawson each scored a goal
in a 2 all tie between 1 and 2
teams,
In pee wee houseleague the
Panthers and Seals tied 5-5. The
Seal goals were scored by Ken
Pinder who scored three, Ian
Doidge and Brian Penhale scored
single markers.
For the Panthers Larry Clarke
scored two, while Howard
Schenk, Dan McIver and Ted
Thorne scored singles.
Detroit defeated the Blues
5-2 in the second game. Brad
Roelofson scored a hat trick
while Robert Guenther and Tom
Hayter scored one each for
Detroit. The Blue goals were
scored by Hugh Ryan and Dan
Regier.
The Slow Motions defeated
the Punchers 10-2 in bantam
hockey. The Slow Motion goals
were scored by Robert Ryckman
with five, Doug Fairbairn with
two and Dennis Doidge, Brian
Taylor and Terry Janke each
scored once.
Marksmen for the Punchers
were Perry Stover with four, Les
Murley, Bryan Tuckey and Noel
Skinner with singles.
Boston in novice took on the
All Stars (4 best players from
the other three teams) and
defeated them 5-3, The Boston
goals were scored by Brad

Basketball teams from South
Huron District High School
gained an even split in a pair of
double headers in Huron-Perth
Conference league play, Friday.
In girls' action at the local
school, Listowel juniors won the
first game by a score of 34-18
while the South Huron seniors
gained a thrilling 21-20 decision.
At Listowel, South Huron
won the senior boys' contest
62-55 but the junior game was a
different story with Listowel
winning 54-13.
The outcome of the senior
'girls' game won by South Huron
21-20 was in doubt all the way.
Donna Doidge hooped two
baskets in the final quarter while
the Listowel girls could only
find the basket on one shot from
the floor.
The score was tied 11-11 at
half time and Listowel was in
front 18-17 with one period
remaining.
Doidge was the top scorer
with nine points while Sheila
Willert was close behind with an
eight point effort.
Glenda Fisher tossed in one
field goal while Jane Tuckey hit
with a free throw to complete
the South Huron scoring.
Barb Thomas with eight
points to her credit led the
South Huron junior scoring.
Carolyn Thiel was next with
six points while Susan Wooden
and Lynn Farquhar notched two
points apiece.
The SH senior boys jumped
into a quick 27-15 lead at the
end of the first quarter and were
never headed.
Ross Huff popped in 22
points to head the scoring
