Then all of a sudden there was a big thunder. So Santa Claus went out to see what it was. Then there was anothor one and anothor one. Then he saw what it was. It was a real rocket, Santa was amazed. He did not know what to do. The door was opened, so he walked in. As soon as he got in the door closed. Then he sat down pushing a button thinking he would get out. Instead he went up and up. Then he looked out of the window. He saw some round stars. Then there was another bang. This time when Santa looked out he saw some round planets. On one of the planets the force of gravity was pulling the rocket down towards it, Suddenly there was anothor bang. He was in the orbit of Mars. Then he landed on Mars. He pushed a button. This time it was the right one. The door opened and the ladder went down. Then Santa walked out and climbed down the ladder. Then he saw some pointed eared fellos. They had rayguns. Santa said "hello." One of the martians said "hello." Then Santa said "Where is your captain. The martians said "this way sir." So the captain saw Santa and he fainted. So the other martians shot them selves and that is how Santa Conquered the Martians, ONE CHRISTMAS NIGHT By JOEY ST EP H ENS Usborne Central One Christmas night Dick and Sam went behind the chair so they could see Santa Claus. We saw Santa Claus coming down the Chimny. Sam and I were very quiet. Santa Claus said come out were you are. We said to him "Can we come with you? Santa said "Maybe you can if you are good." Let's go up in the air. We must wait first because I have a lot more places to go so you better not come. The boys went to bed. The n?xt day was Christmas. The whole family had fun that day. They went to church and prayed. They came home and ate dinner. In the afternoon I went for a ski-doo ride and I saw a domb thing on the bridge. I went to see it. It was a dead fish. I wondered how a fish could get on the lane way. But it was very much fun. THE JOY OF CHRISTMAS By Roxanne Rhude Grade 5 — Exeter Christmas is a happy time in our year. Santa Clause comes to bring you presents. You also give and get gifts from your family and friends. I think singing Christmas songs and carols give joy too. That isn't the real joy of Christmas. The real joy is that Jesus Christ the Savior was born. A POEM By LAURA JOHNS and JO ANN LOVELL Usborne Central Lightly falls the snow It sets your heart aglow The Christmas bells are ringing The boys and girls are singing The Christmas gifts are piling up Mary wants a kitty I want a pup, The stores are filled with Christmas joy Forevery little girl and boy. Mom is making all kinds of stuff Candy, cookies and whip cream puffs. The candle is lit for old St. Nick Then the clock struck twelve tick tack tick. Tis time for me to go to bed For if Santa sees me I may turn red. I can't think of a better way Than to write a poem before Christmas day. Christmas Eve is here at last You better get to bed. Ah at last, Christmas's come With many, many joys Santa certainly has been good To all the girls and boys. I SAW CHRISTMAS COMING By TRACY CAMPBELL JAD McCurdy I saw Christmas on its way, On a brisk December day, And I mustn't forget the silvery It was dressed in red and green, sheen. The children decorated their Christmas tree, And had just as much fun as you and me They put a star right on top, And it reminded them of the decoration shop. They saw Christmas coming, too, For they also knew, That on the night, When the Star shone bright; The blessed Babe was born. Everyone knows Christmas is near, They send you cards of good cheer Then on the great and final day You know that it's been on its way. THE EARLY CHRISTMAS By ELAINE PFAFF Grade 6 — Stephen Central Mom was hurrying and scurrying about, And then all the children began to shout, For there at the chimney all grimmy with coal, Sat Saint Nicholas and bless his old soul, The children weren't in bed for he had come early that night, He did not let one of us out of his sight. He forgave the poor children for being up so late, And gave me a puppy and said, "Next year I'll bring him a mate." But mother she wept when he gave her a broom, For this nice old man would have to leave very soon, For dad he gave something very shiny and new, Well, for heavens sake, if it wasn't a ski-doo!
