Dear Santa,
For Christmas I want a New
Born Tumblena and a Refill mix
set for my Easy Bake Oven. I am
in grade 4. I will help mommy
with the baby. I do not want too
much for Christmas because last
year we spent too much money.

I would like to have anything
you want to give me. If I knew
what I was going to get I
wouldn't like it. I would like

know you can't do that.

A NIGHT OF LONG AGO
By MARIANNE HANSEN
Grade 6 - JAD McCurdy
Christmas is for everyone,
It should all be lots of fun,
Long ago a star shone bright,
To tell that Christ was born that
night.
It kept on shining in the skies,
To tell where little Jesus lies.
The three wise men went there
to see,
If all of this could really be.
They saw the little baby Jesus,
But he wasn't in a bed,
He was sleeping on some soft
sweet hay
With a holy 'bove his head.
THE FIRST CHRISTMAS
(In Modern Version)
By DIANE DOIGE
Grade 8 — Exeter
Mary and her newly wedded
husband moved into their small
white house with green shingles.
Joseph grabbed and carried her
through the huge wide doors
where he dropped her in the
couch. They had just gotton
home from their honeymoon.
After several months they sat
together and starred down at
their bills.
"What will we do," Mary
sighed.
"I don't know," was Joseph's

blank reply, "but look this says
we must go to the closest large
city to be taxed.
"Oh" sighed Mary "I'll go
pack the bags.
"No you don't" shouted
Joseph "you must look after
yourself" "I'll do it", he
ordered.
And off they went to
London.
Entering London they found
all the hotels and motels full. So
being dirrected to the only place
in London they stopped off at
the slums where they rested that
night.
During that night Mary woke
up screaming. "The baby, the
baby" was the only thing she
could say.
Taken aghast Joseph quickly
shoved her in the car where she
was taken to the hospital.
After everyone had left her
room Mary heard a noise, a
bright light, she covered her eyes
with fright. But a kind tender
voice said to her "Don't cry, I
have some good news for you.
As the angel told her all the
details she listened carefully.
The baby's name is Jesus,
King of all people. To the world
this was the most important
moment in life.
THE NIGHT BEFORE
CHRISTMAS
By LAURIE PROUT
Grade 2 — Usbome Central
One night before Chirismas
Santa was making me and when
he was finshed I said "I want to
go to Brenda's house" and Santa
said "Ho-ho-ho I don't know if
Brenda wants a doll or not. I will
see. So Santa went to look on
his list it said Dear Santa I have
ben a good girl. I would like a
dog. But I do not want a doll.
Santa looked sad. He went to
tell me then I looked sad and
said "Oh Santa what am I going
to do." Then Santa had an idea.
I know I will give you for a
surprise. Oh boy! thank you
thank you. So Santa gave me to
Brenda. Santa jumped in his
sleigh. Soon we came to
Brenda's house. Santa put me
under the tree and went away.
Then morning came and Brenda
was happy.
WAITING FOR SANTA
By NORMA PENHALE
Grade 5 — Exeter
The children were snuggled in
their beds. They were all lying in
their beds wake, .when all of a
sudden the clock struck twelve.
The children all sat up in a
hurry. They said "We shall wait
for Santa Claus! They all got up
and sat on the stair steps. They
waited and waited while the
hands on the clock moved closer
and closer to two o'clock. Then
all of a sudden they heard
something on the roof they were
so scared they hurried up into
their beds. They pulled the
covers over their heads and
waited. They heard alot of noise
downstairs. They were too
scared to go downstairs. After
they heard nothing they tiptoed
downstairs. There was their
Christmas presents. Then they
said "That was Santa Claus."
Dear Santa,
I have been a good boy. Is
Rudolf good? When are you
coming, Santa?
Please bring me a robot.
I moved to Dashwood so I
hope you can find me.

Trains and trucks, cars and balls,
Games and a teddy bear.
Toboggans, sleighs, jeeps and
dolls,
All to be handled with care.
Santa's elves are hard at work,
Making christmas toys
On Christmas night he'll give
them out,
To all good girls and boys.
But if your bad before christmas
night
Santa might not come
But! He'll give the good children
Dolls, cars, trucks, and a drum.
So hang your stocking up with
care
Try not to have doubled fear
That Santa Clause will remember
where
You tried to be good all year.

CHRISTMAS DISASTER
By PAT WILCOX
Grade 8 — Exeter
The clock struck twelve one cool
clear night,
I heard the chimney crack
Down came Santa with a scream
Where I left a tack.
I knew I should have picked it
u
And now he might be mad
I hope he would not relize,
That I had been so bad.
He almost made his way to the
tree
When he stepped on a rollar
skate left there by me
He tumbled down the basement
stairs,
And landed on a pile of chairs.
I ran to my room and shut the
door,
Knowing he was mad.
The next morn I tore downstairs
He left a rollar skate, a tack and
some chairs!
A UNIVERSAL CHRISTMAS
By DAVID SNIDER
Grade 7 — Exeter
To me the worst Christmas
dinner I have ever eaten was in
the year 1986! I was an
astronaut bound for Mars!
It all tasted terrible,
especially that synthetic turkey.
The cranberry sauce tasted like
rubber and those dehydrated
potatoes tasted as if they were
three years old! How would you
like to eat algae cakes in the
place of corn? Well, it's got a
rotten taste. Besides all that, I
couldn't get my fork through it,
it floats!
Dear Santa:
I am Rudolph your red-nosed
reindeer. I am go to be sick on
Christmas eve if your stable elves
do not take good care of me.
Tell them they are fired and get
new stable elves and a fumce
and a eltric blanket for all of us
and a drinking trough.
Yours truly
