A CHRISTMAS SCENE
By JOHN VAN GERWEN
Grade 6 - Precious Blood
The wind whistles past the trees,
And snowflakes pack up with
the breeze,
A rabbit hops across the snow,
While howling winds will fiercely
blow.
A coyote breaks the midnight
silence,
While graceful deer jump o'er
the fence,
The moon is up, the stars are
bright,
All praise to God, 'tis Christmas
night.
A wandering dog will roam the
wood,
While horses whinny as they
should,
A church is seen upon the
horizon,
By roaming herds of the scarce
bison.
All creatures of nature waken on
this day,
And praise God in their own
special way,
They run around and have no
fear,
They seem to sense that Christ is
here.
SANTA CLAUS
By EARL PFAFF
Gr. 5 — Stephen Central
Santa Claus will ride tonight,
Upon another happy flight,
And every house that he will
meet,
He'll go inside and have a feast.
He'll ride the air without a care,
And snitch a cookie here and
there.
But when his belly through the
chimney pokes
You'll know he's read a few
of your jokes
So remember children when
Christmas does come,
Go to bed early for dad and
mom,
But it doesn't matter if your a
girl or boy,
Because under your tree you'll
find a toy.
CHRISTMAS IN KOREA
By CHARLENE HANCOCK
()trade 7
Do you realize that Christmas
all over the world is not the
same? In Korea the children are
lucky if they get some decent
clothes to wear. So when you
Open your gifts on Christmas
Day give a thought to those
more unfortunate than yourself.
CHRISTMAS IN AUSTRALIA
By SHERRY NADON
Grade 6 - JAL) McCurdy
At Christmas time in
Australia, them is no snow on
the ground. It is very hot there
instead. In fact it is summer for
them.
On Christmas Eve all the
children in a village get together
and form a parade. At the lead
there are the three Kings who
found Jesus in His manger. The
session hold candles and parade
around singing Christmas carols.
On Christmas Day, after the
family opens their presents, they
pack a Christmas dinner and
WHAT DOES CHRISTMAS
M
By HOT ELAYNFIARO
Grade 8 — Exeter
Have you ever stopped to ask
yourself,
What Christmas really means?
Is it just a pretty time of year,
When snow makes beautiful
scenes?
Or is it when you put up a tree,
And place gifts under for all to
see?
When we think of all these joys,
We forget about one small boy.
This child was born so late one
day,
In a stable, far away,
They laid him in a bed of straw,
While animals looked on in awe.
Three wisemen came, and
shepherds too,
To give the Babe gifts of
well-to-do
They brought him Incense, Gold
and Myrrh
While shepherds gave him gifts
So otfhfinurk. on Christmas .Day of
the boy,
Who brought to this world,
peace and joy;
And remember him always every
day
The Babe that was born so far
away.
CHRISTMAS ACROSTIC
CHRISTMAS
By Cathy Vriese
Grade 5 — Exeter
Carols are so fun to sing,
Holly is a pretty thing,
Reindeers gallop very fast
Is-rael is plenty past.
Snow what we play in
day,
T Turkey is so yummy, I say!
M Mary was so nice and soft,
A Animals sniff around the
loft,
S Stockings all put up late at
night.
I look at these things what I
see about,
Oh graceous (I say) what a
pleasant sight!!
spend a day at the beach.
This is how they spend
Christmas in Australia.
By RUTH ZIELMAN
Grade 7 Stephen Central
When Christmas comes
around every year, I always
think of what Christmas is like
in more unfortunate countries.
What about the little children in
Vietnam and 13iafara? Do they
receive gifts as fine as ours in
Canada? I wonder who thinks
about them.
THE NIGHT BEFORE
CHRISTMAS IN MY VERSION
By PETE ARMSTRONG
Grade 8 — Exeter
The night before Christmas and
all through the town,
There was such a racket that
kno-one could frown.
They were so selfish it was awful
to see,
And they had stockings the size
of a tree.
All of a sudden all lights went
out,
And I was actually in great
doubt.
I was so scarred and frightened
so much,
I ran up stairs and got into
dutch.
After jumping in bed and
covering up,
I got courage to see what was
u .
I pee
p
ked out the window to see
what was doing,
But then in the sky I heard cows
mooing.
It took just a minute or even a
flash,
For me to see something go
dash.
I knew in a minute what it must
be,
Because the driver said Hee Hee
Hee.
It was Saint Nick of course, I
could tell,
Because of his nose was just like
a bell.
Down the chimney with a
sudden crash,
I saw Saint Nick all covered with
ash.
He went to the stocking and just
filled the toe,
But all there was, was mud and
doe.
He went up the chimney and
with a crash,
He said one word and that was
"dash".
Away he went and I heard him
say
Merry Christmas to you and
have a happy day.

By RICHARD FINKBEINER

ChriStrnaS is a wonderful time;
With a -bell that has a chime;..
Christmas is so colourful;
Christmas is so wonderful;
Burn and burn the wonderfuel;
Give oh give her the jewel;
Christmas means sp much to me;
With some gifts underneath the
tree.
CHRISTMAS IN YEAR 2000
By VALERIE SWEET
Grade 7 — Exeter
Here he comes flying through
the air on his jet pack. In his
psychedelic red and white
elephant pants and Nerhu
jacket, Santa pushes a button
and then! The roof of all things,
opens up. He gives the children,
phaser guns, transported rooms,
spacecrafts, computer dolls,
highways in space and
ANYTHING else they wanted.
Soon he leaves the deleriously
children, and teleports back to
his home on Talos VI,
Can you wait to get to the
year 2000?
Another name for this fun and
decoration,
Is called a celebration.
SAMEL DE CHAMPLAIN
By HOWARD JONES
Grade 6 — Exeter
It was Christmas Eve 1605 at
the habitation in Port Royal and
we had a merry time. Then
somebody crawled through the
window and asked if he could
stay over night. It was an Indian
boy named Jimmey John. I said,
"Yes", and he fell asleep on the
kitchen floor. After a few hours
we all went to bed thinking
about the boy. The next
morning it was Christmas. The
little boy woke up first, to find
some food. He looked and
looked for food. He woke John
up and asked for food. Then
everybody woke up and stared
at him. He said, "You got
food'?" So we gave him food and
he ate and ate. Jimmy John said,
"Thank you for my food. It is
my first Christmas present on
Christmas day." Then we all felt
sad we decided to keep him for
little chores around the
habitation.

CHRISTMAS IN OTHER LANDS
By SHELLEY WEBER
Grade 8 — Stephen Central.
Christmas will soon be here
again and the rush of Christmas
shopping begins. For most little
boys and girls Christmas Means
recieving fancy dolls, trains,
trucks and other enjoyable toys
on Christmas morning. Since we
get so many nice things in our
country we don't seem to realize
how unfortunate some children
are in foreign lands. Wars are
going on and in some places
little children have no food to
eat or warm clothes to wear,
When these children wake Up on
Christmas morning they do not
have any gifts to open or they
don't have a big Christmas
dinner with turkey and pudding,
like we do in our country. These
children do not know what a
nice Christmas is like. Maybe
you and I could help those
unfortunate children by sending
some thing we don't use any
more and help make their
Christmas more enjoyable.
