ST. PAUL'S ACW
The regular meeting of the
ACW was held at the home of
Mrs. Frank Forrest with Mrs.
Annie Reid in the chair.
The meeting commenced with
the singing of a Christmas carol,
accompanied by Mrs. Forrest on
the piano.
The business of the day was
attended to; the ladies agreed to
collect used postage stamps for
the Canadian Bible Society, and
anyone wishing to donate used
stamps should present same to
Mrs. Reid.
At the close of the meeting
Mrs Aldwinckle, who recently
celebrated her eightieth
birthday, was presented with a
gift of a cup and saucer.
Games were played with Mrs.
George Anderson as master of
ceremo nies, followed by
refreshments, which included a
birthday cake made by Mrs.
Forrest, in honor of Mrs.
Aldwinckle.
The next meeting will be held
in January at the home of Mrs.
Clark, when the new officers will
commence their duties.
Plan for
pals night
Noble Grand Mrs. Elgin
Thompson assisted by
Vice-Grand Mrs. Jack Taylor
conducted the meeting of
Amber Rebekah Lodge on
Wednesday evening. Plans were
made to hold "Secret Pal" Night
on January 7.
Mrs. Wm. Kyle and Mrs. Ray
Consitt volunteered to visit
patients at the Queensway
Nursing Home in January.
Following the meeting all
joined in carol singing with Mrs.
Alex MacBeath at the piano. A
reading entitled "This Season of
Giving" was given by Mrs.
MacBeath. An exchange of
Christmas gifts was followed by
a social hour in the lower hall.

The Kinsmen Club of Hensail
held their third annual Senior
Citizens night at Hensall Public
School Thursday evening.. Forty
Senior Citizens took the bus trip
from the school and enjoyed a
tour of Christmas lights at
Kxeter, Hensall and Areas..
A program followed at the
school which included selections
by the Glee Club of the school
under direction of Mr. L, Wein.
music supervisor; readings, John
Baker; violin selections by Cecil
Maxwell with Ralph Fitzpatrick
on the piano; .accordion
selections, Kenneth Jones; piano
duets, Mrs. Robert Pxyde and
her daughter Janet.
The concert was concluded
with a short movie.
Santa distributed favors to all the Senior Citizens.
Members of the Kinette Club
served lunch. Harry Horton gave
courtesy remarks, and Ron
Wareing was M.C. for the
program.
SUNDAY SCHOOL
PRESENTS PAGEANT
The teachers and Sunday
school pupils presented a
pageant entitled "God Created
Christmas" in Carmel
Presbyterian Church Sunday
under the direction of Mrs.
Robert Bell,
Rev. W. D. Jarvis conducted
the service and the choir sang
"Ring Out 0 Bells of Christmas'
with Mrs. Malcolm Dougall at
the organ.
There will be no Sunday
School next Sunday. The regular
morning service will be a family
service.
Mrs. Eric Munroe. of Seaforth
visited last week with Mrs.
Bertha MacGregor.
Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Mickle,
Pamela, Judith and John, Mr.
Charles Mickle of Ha.nilton, Mr.
& Mrs. Robert Mickle and Ann
Mickle, London and Mrs.
Florence Joynt are spending
Christmas with Mr. & Mrs. Laird
Mickle.
Mrs. R. A. Orr was the winner
of a surprise package on Radio
Station CKSL London.
Wendy Moir left London
airport last week for Denver,
Colorado to spend Christmas
with her sister and
brother-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. D. E.
Bond and boys.
Mr. & Mrs. Robert Chaffe and
sons of Mitchell were recent
visitors with Mrs. Chaffe's
parents Mr. & Mrs. Jack Corbett.
Mrs. Amelia Schroeder who
has been visiting with relatives in
Arkona is spending the holiday
season with her son and
daughter-in-law Mr. & Mrs. Ed
Schroeder and family.
LUCKY DRAW
The Hensall Independent
Order of Oddfellows held a draw
for a valuable transistor radio in
their Lodge Hall on Thursday.
The winner was Robert Glenn of
Exeter. Ed Munn drew the
winning ticket.
Having received from his
tailor a bill and a note reading,
"Please remit by return mail —
10th notice," The man replied:
"Dear Sir: I do not remember
ordering a suit such as you
Mrs. Wm. Bell was hostess
Wednesday evening for the
Christmas meeting of the Kippen
East Women's Institute with
pre-school children as guests.
Mrs. David Triebner was
co-hostess and the home was
beautifully decorated for the
Christmas season.
President, Mrs. Ken McKay
presided and members answered
roll call with a Christmas verse.
Mrs. E. Ryan, C.F.B. Clinton,
gave a demonstration of her
beautifully created Christmas
decorations. There was a draw
for one of these decorations and
Mrs. W. Bell was the winner.
Mrs. Ross Broadfoot led a
singsong of carols. Christmas
greetings were read from all
branches.
Ten dollars was donated to
the anniversary fund at
McDonald College, Guelph.
Musical numbers by the
pre-school children were much
enjoyed. Randy Ford, Melanie
Lovell and her little brother sang
songs and a reading was given by
Bill Kinsmen.
Mrs. Harry Caldwell gave
courtesy remarks. During lunch
the members exchanged gifts
with their Sunshine Pals.

Seniors .entertained
by Kinsmen members
HENSALL KIN HOST SENIOR CITIZENS — The Hensall Kinsmen
club treated senior citizens of the village to their annual bus tour of
Exeter and Hensall to see the gaily decorated houses. On their return
to the Hensel public school they were shown a \V. C. Fields movie.
