The jolly fellow in the bright

Sorry we missed our column
last week, but we were
recuperating from the big
election.
Jack Bison has been returned
for another term as president of
Branch 540. With the election
creating increased interest, we
had the largest turnout of the
year as Comrade Jack won out
over Comrade Sid Daley, the
only other contender.
The post of Sgt-at-Arms
created the only other election
battle with Charlie, Skolly
getting the nod in this contest.
All other positions were filled
by acclamation with Emerson
De Graw, Percy Knee and Gord
Elson taking over the three
vice-presidents jobs; Pat Crudge
returning as secretary; and Keith
Dickson as treasurer,
The number of executive
members was increased -from
four to six this year with Bill
Smith, Sid Daley, Larry Gibson,
Archie Reilly, Roy Zinn and Len
Fischer being acclaimed to these
posts.
The new executive will be
installed at a public ceremony
on Sunday, January 11 and will
holdoffice until June 30, 1971.
Santa visited Branch 540 last
Saturday and handed out gifts
and candy to about 90 joyful
youngsters.
Over 150 parents and kids
crowded the hall for the event
and welcomed St. Nick after
watching several movies
provided by Dennis (Molson's)
Riggin.
