This is the first of what is
expected to be a weekly column
in the T-A for the winter
months.
In co-operation with the
Canadian Figure Skating
Association and the Exeter
Figure Skating Club it will
attempt to inform readers of the
activities of the local club.
The largest number of
youngsters to register in the
Exeter club are now
participating in weekly training
sessions. Local club secretary
Mrs. Don Mclvor reports 125
boys and girls of a wide range of
ages are taking part.
Mrs. Faye McDonald is back
as club pro for her eighth year
and the club has the use of ten
and one-half hours of ice time
each week. Monday afternoons
the young figure skaters are on
the ice at the Exeter arena from
4:30 to 9, Wednesdays, the ice
time is from 4 to 6 p.m. and
Sunday nights the 6 to 10 p.m.
time slot is also used by the
young skaters.
Mrs. Harry Dougherty is
president of the club with Mrs.
Doug Brintnell vice-president
and Mrs. Wilma Brintnell
treasurer.
The club executive would like
volunteers from among the
parents to help in supervising the
youngsters during any of the
practice sessions during the
week.
A bulletin was sent home
with the boys and girls a week
ago and no response has been
received as yet. If anyone would
like to help out as a supervisor
and relieve some the strain from
the executive, a phone call to
any of the ladies mentioned in
this column would be more than
welcome.
