McDonald, Mrs. Elgin Webb and Mr. H.. Green. Future euehres will follow, The General Meeting of the Grand Bend UCW was held Tuesday, November 18 in the church school room. Worship was conducted by Mrs. Alex Hamilton assisted by Mrs. Wellwood Gill, Mrs. William Sturdevant, president presided for the business, Reports were given by all conveners. Final plans were made for a Christmas Tea, December 11. One Hundred dollars was voted to the M & M Fund of the church and $100.00 to a special fund. Two $50.00 donations will be sent to The Irwins and to Rev. Paul Webb. The Irwins are missionaries in Korea and The Webbs are in Hong Kong. A Christmas box will be sent to each. Rev. The business was conducted by president Mrs. Roy Cunningham. A donation was made to the War Memorial Hospital, London. Mrs. Wilmer Scott gave an interesting report on the area convention held at St. Thomas. Mrs. Carl O'Neil spoke on the Purpose of Education and the Wonders of Tomorrow. Mrs. R. Worthington gave a reading, "Heads Bent Low." Two other poems were read, One Step Ahead and the Winding Road of Life. The hostess was assisted by Mrs. James Donaldson and Mrs. Albert Rosser, PRESENTATION A euchre party and dance was held in honor of newlyweds, Jeff and Donna Sleaford Friday at Maple Leaf school, Neighbors and friends attended and presented the young couple with a purse of money. Those winning prizes for euchre were Mrs. Tom Tomes, Tom Tomes, Mary Brumwell, Allan Hill and Donna Sleaford. Mr, and Mrs. Sleaford are residing on the 2nd concession of McGillivray. ROBERT HORNELL Robert Hornell passed away at his residence, Clandeboye, Saturday, November 22, He was in his 77th year. Mr. Hornell is survived by his wife the former Agnes Thompson and one daughter (Margaret) Mrs. Maurice Hettick, pillows and aprons have been completed, Interested friends are invited to attend Achievement Day at Zurich Community Hall, November 29 at 1:15 p.m. W.I. The Grand Bend Women's Institute met on Thursday afternoon in the town hall. Mrs. Emery DesJardins, historical research and current events convener, was in charge of the meeting. Roll Call was answered with a current event of 40 years ago. The motto was "A paper on an Indian tribe. Mrs. DesJardins gave a very interesting talk on the history of Grand Bend which included information about the cemetery, hydro etc. Mrs, Wm. Love reported on the W.I. London Area convention which she attended at St. Thomas last week. Mrs. Raymond Kading reported on the W.I. board meeting which was held in Hensall town hall last week. Mrs. Wm. Love president presided for the business. Hostesses were Mrs. W. Love and Mrs. Wellington Baker. PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Baird celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary at a family dinner at Dashwood Hotel. Mr. & Mrs. Baird have one daughter, (Mona) Mrs. Carl Vanner of Collingwood, a son, William of Grand Bend and three grandchildren. Miss Mariann Traub is a patient in War Memorial Children's Hospital, London. Mrs. Rosa Grigg is a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter. Mr. & Mrs. Wellwood Gill spent last weekend with Mrs. Gill's sister, Mae Patterson at Newmarket. Mr. & Mrs. James Patterson spent the weekend with friends in Toronto. Max Tiedeman, Burton Green, Ed. Reed, Larry McLennan played Sunday in the Southampton Legion Bonspeil and won first prize. They brought home the trophy and many other prizes. By MRS. G. Mrs. Ivan Brock presided and welcomed the members and their husbands and other visitors. Members replied to the roll call "My most humorous experience on the farm". The motto, "Pray to God for a good harvest, but remember to keep on hoeing" was discussed by Mrs. Stuart Miner. A solo was sung by Mrs. Erie Clayburn and a humorous skit presented by some of the members and their husbands. Mr. Peter Raymond of Exeter was introduced by Mrs. Philip Johns, program chairman. "Estate Planning" was the topic discussed by Mr. Raymond. He explained the purpose of wills and the importance for having them properly drawn up. The group participated in a question and answer period following the address. Mrs. William Allen expressed thanks to Mr. Raymond on behalf of the group. The hospital report was given by Miss Ruth Skinner and Mrs. Allen Johns reported that the Huronview Bazaar will be held December 1. Social hour followed the meeting. The Young People of the United Church met at the home of Peter Steeper last Monday evening and formed an organization. Miss Grace Eagleson of Sarnia spent the weekend with her mother, Mrs. Paul Eagleson. Mrs. Joe Homer accompanied by Mrs. Stanley Scott visited Sunday with Mrs. E. Jennings, London. Mrs. Carman Woodburn attended the executive meeting of the United Church Women of Huron-Perth Presbytery at Sebringville United Church last Wednesday. Mr. & Mrs. Earl Gardner of Newmarket visited Sunday with his mother, Mrs. J. Gardner. Sunday visitors with Mrs. Arthur Brophey were Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Brophey of Hanover and Mr. & Mrs. Eldon Young of Lucan. A number of boys in this vicinity are playing hockey with Grand Bend boys at Zurich. with friends in Chatham and attended the Chatham Christmas Bazaar at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church last Thursday. Mr. & Mrs. Delmer Skinner, Mr. & Mrs, Edward Skinner, Mr. & Mrs. Frank Kints, Dennis and Dale, Mrs, Vera Johns, Mr. & Mrs. Maynard Margison and family attended a family dinner at the Dufferin Hotel in Centralia and later were entertained by Mr. & Mrs. Margison of London Sunday. The leaders and members of Elimville 4H Homemaking Club attended Achievement Day in Exeter Saturday for the club "Needlecraft." The Elimville Euchre of the Women's Institute was held on Monday evening with 7 tables playing. Mr. & Mrs. Allen Johns and Miss Ruth Skinner and Laverne Skinner were in charge. Winners were: men's high, Mr. Heber Shute; ladies' high, Mrs. Ross Skinner; men's lone hands, Mr. Floyd Cooper; ladies lone hands, Miss Verda Kellett; lucky cup, Mrs. Russell Morley. HAPPY DOUBLES CLUB The November meeting of the Happy Doubles Club was held Wednesday evening with a good attendance. Mrs. Murray Dawson opened the meeting. The Theme was "Jesus Christ the Hope of the World." A reading "Christian Hope of the World was given by Mrs. Dawson. Mrs. Jack Stewart read the Scripture and prayer was given Murray Dawson and another reading "Can You Answer" was presented by Mrs. Dawson, Rev. Stewart & Mrs. Miner conducted bible study with pictures which was very impressive. • The President Mrs. Lorne Ballantyne conducted the business. It was decided to have a Christmas banquet on December 9, and to go carol singing to the shut-ins on the 19th of December. Several from this community called at the Hopper-Hockey Funeral Home Exeter, Friday to pay their respects to the late J. M.Southcott. The flowers in the church Sunday were placed there by the family of the late Annie Willert. Mr. Lloyd Hackney is a patient in Humber Memorial Hospital, Toronto after having been in a car-truck crash on Thursday evening when returning home from the Royal Winter Fair. Mr. & Mrs. Russell Morley, Exeter visited on Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Knight. Mr. & Mrs. William Rohde were Tuesday guests with Rev. His other survivors are a brother, James Hornell of Kirkland Lake and three grandchildren. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. W. C. Tupling from the Murdy Funeral Home, Lucan, Tuesday November 25. The pallbearers were Arthur Hodgins, Victor Hodgins, Jim Scott, Wilmer Scott, Joe Mander and Lyle Stokes. Interment was in St. James Cemetery, Clandeboye. Mr. and Mrs. Hornell moved . to Clandeboye in 1962. PERSONALS Ken Carter had the misfortune to have an accident with his truck. He suffered an injury to his leg and is in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. • The service at St. James Church was taken by Rev. W.R. Carson of Port Lambert. He and Rev.
