President Lois Brintnell conducted the business. The members were advised that they would be reponsible for serving the refreshments at the next Senior Citizens meeting. The auxiliary will also organize the children's Christmas party in December 14. Refreshments will be prepared for the New Year's Eve dance sponsored by the Legion. Carrie Norrie won the mystery prize. The new officers were elected as follows: president, Norma Brintnell; 1st vice-president, Rena .Young; 2nd vice-president, Bernice Shipman; secretary, Marion Frayne; treasurer, Dorothy Pfaff. t 0 4 display featured articles that had been handed down from past generations. This included a lovely bridal nightgown, over eighty years old, with. a delicately embroidered bodice; a cushion cover created over 70 years ago by a young girl as a gift for her boyfriend beautifully executed bookmarks and a sampler made in 1845 by a seven year old girl in Scotland. Pillow cases, table cloths and other lovely articles, some made by the girls' grandmothers, were also exhibited. Another exhibit showed three Samplers From Great-Grand- mother's Day, which were well, preserved and beautiful samples from a past era. Mrs. Susan Wheatley, Home Economist for Huron opened the program by presenting each of the club members with a sterling silver spoon for completing the club in needlecraft. This was followed by each 4-H Club giving a skit, demonstration or commentary on an exibit. The clubs taking part were Hurondale I, II, III, IV and V; Elimville I, II and III, and Crediton I, II and III. At the close of the program Mrs. R. S. McKercher, RR 1, Dublin commented favorably on the exhibits. She gave some practical advise on how they might have been improved. Mrs. McKercher challenged the girls to continue and practice the skills they have learned in needlecraft. "Create a thing of beauty," she advised them. "so that you too may produce something to be treasured by future generations." Miss Joyce Anderson, Home Economist for Lambton County commented on the skits and demonstrations. County Honors and Provincial Honors were presented to the girls who had earned them. Three leaders were honored. Mrs. Cliff Kenny, Crediton, of the Crediton I Club, and Mrs. Ross Skinner, RR 1, Centralia of the Elimville II Club received 5 year leadership certificates. Mrs. Alvin Moir, Exeter received her second 5 year leadership certificate. Rebekah lodge plans program Pride of Huron Rebekah Lodge No. 338, IOOF held their second monthly meeting on 19 November in the Oddfellows Hall with a good attendance. It was regretted that the Seaforth Rebekah Lodge could not be present this evening. JPNG Bernice Ford reported that the CPT committee held a successful euchre on November 12. Gift cookies are to be brought in at the December 3rd meeting. Christmas meeting will be December 17th and the usual exchange of small gifts will take place. The VNG Gladys Skinner reported on sick members and further supplies were voted for her work. The December program and lunch committees, were given by the NG Mary Fisher. A social program for the winter months was promoted with committee nominated to formulate same. Draping the Charter for the Assembly Past President will be held at the next meeting. Sister Mary Van Camp was given the duty of press reporter. Correspondence was reported and social committee needs of new playing cards supplied. The warden put forward a, question on Rebekah china and the Noble Grand raised a question as to state of lodge television gift to SH District Hospital, Exeter. The NG Mary Fisher thanked Sister Stella Dickson for presiding at the piano during absence of Sister Lena Willard and other sisters for filling in. The meeting closed with the playing of euchre and refreshments. THE FINISHED PRODUCT — Mary Ellen proudly points to the decorations the girls tried out on an artificial tree. This can be rolled out and cut with cookie cutters or molded into fanciful shapes and characters. Decorate with 'gems' pried from old jewellery, beads, small marbles, sequins and sparkle. Push a paper clip in the top of each shape so they can be hung. To finish off place the "cookies" in a slow oven (about 150) and leave until thoroughly dry. Carving Sets • Desk Sets Pen and Pencil Sets 4-H MEMBERS VIEW WORK — Lynn Faber, Barb Dougall and Lori Sims admire some of the embroidery of their Hurondale No. 2 club at achievement day. Eleven 4-H Clubs participated in the Needlecraft Achievement Day, Saturday, at South Huron District High School. If embroidery is a dying craft the girls of this area displayed a very lively corpse in their demonstrations, exhibits and skits. In the club just completed the girls were taught the seven basic stiches of needlecraft. Putting this knowledge to use they then produced an article which used at least three of these stitches. The result was a colorful and exciting exhibition of work. Besides their own embroidery the members also had displays which featured Embroidery From Other Lands; Treasurers in Embroidery, and The Sampler of Great Grandmother's Day. From other lands there was needlecraft of India, Serbia, Norway, China and Yugoslavia. One display was made up completely of beautiful work from Holland.
