HIWAY-BYWAY
The Tire that Makes Fun of Winter Driving
It was in the cards. We had to get this year-new miracle-
construction in to your favourite winter tires - Hiway-
Byways. It's just too good to miss. If you were one of the
wise ones, you drove on Glass-Belted Polyester tires this
summer.lf you're one of the lucky ones, you will have
them on your new 1970 car. And since it makes good
sense - and safety - to match glass with glass, you'll
be smart to install Hiway-Byway Glass-Belts on your
rear wheels for the coming winter.
Hiway-Byways are built to take it - snowdrifts, hard-
packed surfaces, water covered ice, high-crowned side
roads. Stops are quicker, get-aways faster, control surer.
Tough Polyester reinforced with fabulous fibreglass
belting gives you mile for. mile greater value than any-
thing going on winter roads. Discover the peace of mind
that Hiway-Byways can bring you, You'll never gripe
about snow storms again. If you do, we'll buy back the
unused miles. It's that simple.
If, for any reason, you must pass up the new Glass-Belted Polyester
tires, you can still get Hiway-Byway snow tires in the tried and true con-
ventional Nylon - without the new Glass Belts. Yours is the choke,
Canadian Tire satisfies all needs, so why look any further.

Tigers lose
two games
The Crediton Tigers
experienced a rough week in
Western Ontario Athletic
Association Intermediate "C"
play losing two games to the
Wiarton Redmen.
The Tigers, playing
shorthanded on both occasions
were outscored 10-4 by the
Wiarton club at the Huron Park
arena, Friday night and lost 9-7
to the same team in Wiarton
Sunday afternoon.
Crediton manager Bob
Galloway said early this week his
club would be strengthened with
the return to action of goalie
Jim Glavin and the acquisition
of a couple of new performers
for Friday's game in Kincardine
against the Bulldogs.
The Tigers are back at the
Huron Park arena Sunday night
at 8:30 to take on the Milverton
4-Wheel Drives and then travel
to Milverton Tuesday for a
return contest.
LEAD FOR TWO
In Wiarton Sunday afternoon,
the Crediton Tigers led for two
periods despite losing one of
their only eleven players, Paul
Young in the second minute of
play due to a match misconduct
penalty.
The Tigers led 2-1 at the end
of the first twenty minutes of
play on goals by Dennis
Morrissey and Fred Lamb while
Gary Cole replied for the
Redmen.
Crediton maintained the one
goal margin through the second
period on two goals from Bob
Gruber and another from Lamb.
In the final session, Craig
Chapman and Bob Pinter were
the Crediton goal scorers. Norm
Adams scored three times in the
last two periods to lead the
Wiarton scoring while Jim
Moore, Tom Taylor, Jerry Good
and Cole were in with single

The Tigers were never in
much contention on home ice
Friday night as they fell behind
early and were never able to
catch up..
Dennis Morrissey scored
twice to lead the Crediton
scorers with Gary Parsons and
Terry Bourne each checking in
with singletons.
Said the golfer: "You must
be the worst caddy in the
world."

would be too much of a
coincidence."

Lucan Irish
- Continued from Page 8
16-year old Doug Rosser, a
defenceman who made the
mistake of putting his head
down and was hit. Victoria
Hospital diagnosed the injury as
a concussion.
Lucan has signed a new
It defenceman Barkly, who plays
very good positional hockey and
is very adept at keeping the
opposition from getting set in
front of the Lucan nets. If he
continues this style of play he
may be what the Irish require to
help them in their try for a ▪ play-off berth.
By the time this is published
Lucan will have met, on home
ice, the Belmont Flyers to whom
they lost their opening game.
I hope you were there to see
the game and let the kids know
that the fans in the Lucan area
like good hockey, win lose or 0 • draw, but especially WIN! Next
Wednesday Mitchell is in Lucan.
