Miss Lois Jackson who has had spinal surgery in Victoria Hospital London is progressing favorably. Miss Jean Ivison returned home after being hospitalized several weeks in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Mr. & Mrs. Robert Stokes of London visited Sunday with her father, Robert Thomson. Mr. & Mrs. Stanley Jackson had as weekend guests their daughters and sons-in-law Mr. & Mrs. Beverley Henderson of Hamilton and Mr. & Mrs. Brian Traviss of London. A COMBINED BIRTHDAY PARTY — Last week Mrs. Eric Luther of Hensall entertained a group of the village's senior citizens. Special guests of honour were three ladies that celebrated birthdays within a few days of each other. Surviving are one daughter (Anna Pearl) Mrs. Lindsay Eyre, Brucefield, two granddaughters, and eight great-grandchildren. Public funeral services will be held from the Bonthron Funeral Home, Hensall, Thursday November 27 at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. E. D. Stuart. The interment will be in Bay field Cemetery. Mrs. Gordon Scott read the scripture. Mrs. Larry Gardiner led in meditation and Mrs. Bob Laing followed with prayer. Mrs. Bev Taylor took the topic "How People Get Along with their Handi-cap." Mrs. John Templeman had the Study Book. The meeting closed with the Lord's Prayer. A Talent Sale held after their meeting realized $35.00. PERSONALS Mr. & Mrs. Murray Eggerth, Stratford, Mr. & Mrs. Tom Wonder, Suzan and Darrell, Kitchener visited with Mr. & Mrs. Alex Gardiner. Mr. & Mrs. Alex Gardiner visited recently with Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Marquardt, Janet and David, Exeter. Mr. Alex Walker, Yukon Territories spent a day with his parents Mr. & Mrs. Otto Walker. Mr. & Mrs. Jack Cockwell, Dashwood visited with Mr. & Mrs. Otto Walker. relatives in Hamilton and Waterloo. Mr. & Mrs. Stewart Bell and Troyann visited Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Sauter in Marlette, Michigan. Mr. Ross Love of Clinton, formerly of the Parr Line, is a patient in Clinton Community Hospital where he was admitted on Saturday. Mrs. J. E. McEwen and Mrs. Verna Twitchell attended the bazaar, bake sale and tea held Saturday afternoon, November 22 at the Blue Water Rest Home, Zurich. It was a splendid success Twenty members of the UCW of Hensall United Church attended the meeting of the Goshen UCW Thursday evening, November 20. Mrs. Ephraim Gingerich showed coloured slides and narrated her trip to South America. The program was much enjoyed. Mrs. Bruce Walker is a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter. Mr. & Mrs. Jim Bozatto and Dana returned home last Wednesday to Port Colborne after spending three months with the latter s parents, Mr. & Mrs. William Kyle. Mr. & Mrs. Garnet Mousseau ,and Cheryl of Ridgetown were recent visitors with the former's parents Mr. & Mrs. Alex Mousseau. Mr. & Mrs. Cyrl Cornish of Kincardine visited recently with relatives and friends here. Mr. & Mrs. Don MacLaren and daughter Jodi who have been vacationing in Florida and Jamaica visited this weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Lorne Chapman and Mrs. Bertha MacGregor prior to returning to their home in Scarborough Rev. H. F. Currie concluded his series of messages on the Beatitudes at the morning service Sunday. Sunday December 7, containers will be placed in the vestibule of the church when canned goods may be deposited for the Rescue Mission in London. This is a project of the Hi-C Youth group of the church. Memorial flowers in the Sanctuary Sunday morining were in loving memory of John Boyd, placed by the family. Charter draped in remembrance Noble Grand Mrs. Grace Thompson was in charge of the meeting of Amber Rebekah Lodge on Wednesday evening. She was assisted by Vice Grand Mrs. Myrtle Taylor. The charter was draped in memory of the late Christine Allen, Past Assembly President. Mrs. Aldeen Volland reported for the CPTcommittees, stating donations had been made to the CNIB and Cancer Society, also that the CPT committee are holding a euchre in the Lodge rooms on Wednesday November 26, Mrs. Taylor reported for the visiting committee and Mrs. Dorothy Corbett reported for the finance committee. The annual donation was voted to be sent to the Barrie Home, for Christmas. Tickets are available for the Past Masters' Banquet at Egmondville on December 3, Plans were made for the Christmas Party to be held Wednesday, December 17. A thank you letter was received frotn Mrs. Eric Luther for the donation to the CNIB. A social hour was enjoyed in the lower hall, following the meeting when refreshments were served. So live that you won't be afraid to sell your pa rot to the town gossip, Fifty neighbors gathered at the Legion Hall, Hensall on Saturday evening to honor Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Dalrymple who recently moved to Exeter. The evening was spent in playing cards and crokinole. Mr. Ted Roberts read the address and Mrs. Roberts presented a floor lamp and magazine rack to Mr. and Mrs. Dalrymple on behalf of the neighbors. Refreshments were served and a social hour enjoyed. MRS. WILLIAM J. DOUGLAS Mrs. William J. Douglas, Brucefield, the former Elizabeth J. Hudson, passed away Mrs. Caldwell submitted the treasurers' reports. Reports were presented by Mrs. Robert Kinsman, Sunshine Convener and Mrs. Wm. Bell who reported about the district board meeting held at Hensall. Secretary Mrs. James Drummond read correspond- ence, It was decided that donations of cash or sewing from each member would be brought for the Sick Children's Hospital. The list of articles for display at Exeter Fall Fair are as follows: 1, fancy cloth, handmade; 2, Table Arrangement; 3, Dinner Place Setting; 4, Pumpkin Pie suitably displayed; 5, Loaf homemade bread. Mrs. Grant McLean was in charge of the following program which included a singsong, organ music by Jack Caldwell. It was enjoyed by all, The motto was given by Mrs. Harry Caldwell; Readings, Focus on Foods, and How to Bake a Cake were given by Mrs. Grant McLean. A duet by Mrs. Al Hoggarth and Mrs. Alderdice was very amusing. Different reports were given by the conveners. For Citizenship and Education, Mrs. Alex McGregor; Current Events, Mrs. John Sinclair and Home Economics by Mrs, Caldwell and Mrs. Triebner, There was a display of sewing and fancy work of the 4-11 girls. Gifts from the Institute were presented by Mrs. Bill Kyle to Club leaders, Mrs. Connolly, Mrs. Robert Bell and Miss Donna Whitehouse. Surprise couplq • on anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Ferguson, prominent residents of. Hensall for 18 years observed their 25th wedding anniversary Saturday, November 22 with a surprise party held for them at the Hensall Memorial Centre. It was arranged by their family and relatives. Close to 300 relatives, neighbors and friends attended. Reeve Oliver Jaques made the presentation of a purse of money to the celebrants. The staff of Hensall District Co-operatives, of which Mr. Ferguson is manager, presented the couple with a lovely swivel rocker. Earl Wagner and Jack Upshall made the presentation.
