Zion United Church Women,
Sebringville,acteclashostesses for
the annual fall executive meeting
of the Presbyterial of
Huron-Perth United Church
Women Wednesday, November
19,
Mrs. Harold Babensee,
Stratford, president of the
Presbyterial, presided over the
meeting and welcomed the
officers.
In her address she reviewed
the plans for re-organizing the
congregations to eliminate
overlapping and provide
opportunities to pool resources.
The Congregational Life and
Work Committee has made
• certain suggestions which may
be adjusted to meet each local
church situation, Mrs. Babensee
urged each one to keep an open
mind while negotiating the
change. The new system is now
functioning in St. John's United
• Church in Stratford, in St. Marys
United Church and in Wingham
United Church.
The contributions of the
United Church Women will now
be channelled through the local
church treasurer to United
Church, headquarters in Toronto

United Church women
hold fall presbyterial
With RECEIPTS ONLY going to
Mrs. Walter McDonald, Gadsbill.
Miss Ethel Gabel, Zurich, will
receive the UCW Expense Fund
moneys for Huron-Perth
Presbyterial.
The Regional presidents
reviewed their work and the
finance committee set up the
1970 Expense budget.
Over fifty women braved the-
second onslaught of winter to
attend the meeting,
The night staff of South
Huron Hospital held a dinner at
the Dominion Hotel, Zurich in
honor of Mrs. Lloyd Cushman.
She was presented with a
remembrance gift of a matching
pin and ear rings set. Mrs.
Cushman is leaving the staff of
the local hospital to join her
husband in Ingersoll where he has
been conducting the Delux Dry
Cleaners since June.
Friends and neighbors held a
farewell coffee party when they
gave Mrs. Cushman a coffee set.
The Cushmans have
purchased a mobile home and
will be moving into it with their
son Steven very shortly.
Mr. & Mrs. Bev Lyons, Lisa
and Terry Lou and Mrs. Norma
Squire and Janet spent Sunday
with their parents, Mr. & Mrs.
Alvin Moir. They celebrated Mrs.
Moir's birthday.
David Johnston, Walkerton
and Bob Johnston, London,
spent the weekend with their
parents, Mr. & Mrs. Lorne
Johnston.
Rick Haveling visited with his
mother, Mrs. William Haigh over
the weekend.
Mrs, William Carrick is a
patient in South Huron Hospital.
Male curlers
in third week
After three weeks of regular
play in the first draw of the
Exeter men's curling club, rinks
skipped by Gord McCarter, Bill
Cann and Dick Roelofson
headed their respective divisions.
McCarter's rink that includes
Paul Coates, Doug Webber and
Bob Simpson lead the Monday
evening curlers with 34 points.
Jim Hewitt has his foursome in
second spot with 29 points while
Lee Learn's rink has 27 points,
good for third place.
Bill Cann and his group of
Winston Shapton, Murray
Hodgins and Walter Fydenchuck
have a total of 26 points to head
the Tuesday sweepers. King
McDonald's rink in second with
25 points and Gerry Prout's
foursome follows with 24
points.
A 33 point record put
Roelofson and his rink of Bill
Lamport, Bob Coates and Bill
Dinney in first place among the
Thursday competitors.
Following in the next two spots
are rinks headed by Lorne
Passmore and Ross Marshall.

The Huron Waves held their
annual pot luck supper at Shipka
Community Centre, Monday
evening with 25 in attendance.
Mrs. Harold Finkbeiner,
president, welcomed everyone.
The meeting opened by all
repeating the Housewife Creed,
followed by the Lord's Paryer.
It was decided to send $5.00
each to the War Memorial
Children's Hospital and the
Central Executive in London.
Two piano selections were
played by Janet Guenther.
Special prizes were: Oldest
lady present, Mrs. Wes England,
Dashwood; closest birthday to
meeting, Mrs. Helen Grieves,
Dashwood; most recent column
letter, Mrs. Karl Guenther,
Shipka. A lucky number door
prize of a ham won by Mrs.
Freida Keller, Dashwood.

Fourth straight
for novice club
The Exeter novice hockey
club won their fourth straight
game in Shamrock minor play
Saturday with a 9-0 win over
Merton on Lucan ice.
Robbie Heard led the Exeter
scoring attack with a three goal
performance, Brian Horrell and
Paul Pooley were close behind
with two goals each while singles
were added by Brad Taylor and
Perry Pooley.
