How to keep
the traffic moving
when rush hour hits
the hot water.
Rush hour. Every family has one.
When there are dishes to be
washed, kids to be tubbed, Dad
scrubbing up. Then Sis decides
she has to have a shower. It takes
a lot of hot water to keep the
traffic moving.
That's why you need the Cascade
electric water heater—the big
producer. It's got the capacity a
busy family needs, and it's
economical, too. Cascade keeps
you in hot water for only pennies
a day. Ask your Hydro about the
quiet, clean, electric Cascade
water heater.LIF4 The Name of the Game is Electrical Living.

Thanks to the wonderful
co-operation of the citizens,
merchants, clubs and
organizations of Lucan and
Biddulph, we have realized, by
far, the most successful Poppy
Fund Campaign in our history.
With more Comrades than
usual participating in the
canvass, we were able to more
effectively cover the entire
village with the following
results:
Business Canvass . . . . $202.75
House-to-House 146.66.
Miscellaneous Boxes 63.82
Poppy Day 91.75
Total Receipts $504.98
The total expenses were

By HOMER PIGEON
Well, it happened again this
year. We always plan for a
certain number of people for our
pigeon banquet and each year
we end up with more people
than we can accommodate.
The congregation of
Saintsbury Church are the
people who put a smile on the
face of every person in the
Lucan Arena last Saturday night.
Never since the battle of
Britain have so many owed so
much to so few. With the odds
stacked way up against them
these people fed over 200 people
in a record time.
We heard so many good
reports about the dinner that we
would like to ask these people to
do the same for us next year but
we feel it would be better to
wait until their tired muscles
have relaxed a bit.
We had some spot dances
with the music capably supplied
by Clare Stanley and a few
prizes to give out this year.
The decorations and prizes
were looked after by Carol
Hardy. The flowers were
supplied by Gene Nicholson.
These looked very attractive laid
out on a table at the door. As a
matter of fact these same
flowers still looked quite nice
after they were pinned on all the
different shapes and sizes that
gather at such functions as this.
veterans, then our expenses were
only $30.65 or six percent.
Our mixed euchre party,
which was held at the hall last
Saturday evening, drew a good
crowd although there were
several empty tables and room
for a dozen or so more players.
Prizes for the event were
donated by Vic Neal, Gary
Jones, Harold and Doris
Lightfoot, Marjory Gibson,
Loretta Dickson, Olga Bond and
Betty Bates.
Next Wednesday, Nov. 26
sees the Zone A-5 meeting at
Branch 116 in Strathroy. Besides
our voting delegates, all
members of the Branch are
urged to attend these meetings
as fraternal delegates.
Those who are contemplating
running for office in December
should be particularly interested
as it is at these Zone and District
meetings that you really gain an
insight into what Legion is all
about.
Letters have gone out to all
members about our Santa Claus
The president "Norm Hardy"
had the honour of handing out
or at least sorting out the
trophies. He had as his helper in
this operation the Secretary of
our club Mert Culbert who
called the doners and the
recipients to the stand and by
way of the grapevine it is said he
sounded more like an auctioneer
or just a common fish wife. At
any rate the trophies went to the
following people.

Branch 540 will lease one of
the new signs which are being
erected at the Community
Centre. These signs are being
rented to merchants and
organizations at a cost of $25.00
per year. It was felt that this was
one spot where we should be
represented because of our
sponsorship of minor hockey,
figure skating and track and
field. The signs, which will be
erected in the near future, will
hang above the bleachers around
the ice surface.
Don't forget our mixed
winter sports — every second
Tuesday in the lounge — for an
evening of darts, cribbage,
euchre and shuffleboard. Next
had the best bird. This is
certainly a busy world we live in.
Our very sincere thanks to
every one who has donated a
trophy to our club and an extra
special thank you to all you
fellows who have to buy a ticket
to come to the party to present
your trophy.
I know every member of our
club will be sure to patronize the
sponsors of these trophies and I
feel sure a lot of people at that
party will do the same.

Close games
in SM action
By J.E. BURT
Last Wednesday night here at
the centre the Lucan Irish took
on the Exeter Hawks, and again
penalties killed them as they
were downed by a 7-6 score,
after leading 5-3, half-way
through the third period.
As I always say, you cannot
score goals from the penalty
box.

In Novice Hockey last
Saturday, it was Stoneybrook
