The UCW met at the home of
Mrs. R. B. Worthington for their
November meeting.
President Mrs. Jim Donaldson
presided,
Regional president, Mrs. Ray
Campbell of Ailsa Craig was the
guest and spoke on 'Poverty.'
Plans were made for a bale to
be started the end of November.
At the recent meeting of St.
James Anglican Church Board of
Management it was suggested
that St. James Church budget be
designated to the support of
Walpole Island and Moose
Factory Mission School and
hospital.
If this was unacceptable it
would be used to support
Mistassini in Northern Quebec
and Lac La Ronge in
Saskatchewan.
On Sunday, Nov. 9, the
Service of Holy Communion was
celebrated at 12:45 p.m. The
Sunday School met during the
Service.
Next Sunday the Service of
Evening Prayer will be read at
12:45 p.m.

RR 1 Mount Elgin, a son of the
late A, Earl Paton, was
inadvertently omitted from his
father's obituary in last week's
issue of the paper.

Lucan-Clandeboye Explorers
held an Exploration, Monday
last at the Lucan United Church
with 40 in attendance and guest
helper, Miss Joan Barker.
Explorers completed their
memory-work in preparation for
Parent Night, next Monday.
For their homework they are
to make a chart of the T.V.
viewing for a week, counting the
time and marking any
programme they particularly like
and telling why.

Explorers will be selling them.
LUCAN UCW
Members of Lucan UCW
invited members of the UCW in
other churches in the area to a
Smorgasbord and Service, last
Friday.
Guest speaker was James
Stanley, well-known in this
district, and a missionary in
Senegal, West Africa, at present
home on leave,
Mrs. Sheridan Revington and
Mrs. Frances Saward led the
Worship Service, and Mrs.
Emerson Stanley introduced her
nephew, Jim Stanley.
Mr. Stanley showed films on
the district of Senegal, the way
the people live there, and some
of the highlights on the work he
has been doing.
He has trained one of the
natives to carry-on while he is
away, and is proposing to start
in another community when he
returns.
His 5 sons sang hymns in
French and English,
accompanied by their mother on
the accordion, and concluded
with a song in the native
language of the tribe where they
have been living.

Sunday, November 9.
The service was conducted by
the Rev. Harry B. Johnson.
A procession of singing choir
members and those carrying
posters marched down the aisle
of the church.
They were led by the Sunday
School Superintendent Gordon
Morley, who was leader for the
laymen service,
Carol Robinson read the
Scripture.
Lay folk who offered prayers
were Mrs, Bill Fenton, Gayle
Fenton, Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Trevithick and Jackie Lewis.

different offices necessary for
the church to function were

gave a devotional reading
"Prayer, What It Meant to You.'
Mrs. Hartle, Mrs. Harvey

Mrs, Reta Allison gave a
reading on "Remembrance."
