Randy Preszcator plunged one yard for the first South Huron major score after four minutes of play and scored again before the quarter ended, taking a 14-yard pass from quarterback Murray Glanville. Larry Bourne sent a 30-yard kick safely through the uprights for three points, also in the opening period. Bourne boomed a kick-off for 75 yards and another point for the Panthers. The final two points of the first half came when a Listowel kick was blocked and Dave Keating tackled an opposition backfielder behind the goal-line. Pete Mason intercepted two Listowel passes in the first half Tigers get tie in first start The Crediton Tigers opened their Western Ontario Athletic Association Intermediate "C" season at the Huron Park arena, Sunday night and were forced to settle for an 8.8 tie with the Clinton Colts. Sunday night the Tigers will be back at the Centralia arena at 8.30 with the Monkton Wildcats supplying the opposition. In an exhibition tilt, the Tigers will take •on the Zurich Flyers in Zurich, Friday night at 8.30. FELL BEHIND The Crediton club were continually on the short end of the score for the first two periods in their game against Clinton. Terry Wade and Fred Lamb scored for Crediton in the first period while Butch Fleet tallied once and Joe Livermore twice for the visitors. In the second session, the Crediton club could only score once on a successful shot fired by Wade, his second of the night while Clinton raised their game goal total to six on scores by Fleet, Livermore and Grant Volland. The Tigers rallied early in the third period and came on to score five quick goals to take an 8-7 lead only to have Butch Fleet fire his third goal of the night with less than three minutes to go to gain the tie for Clinton. Scoring for Crediton in the third were Craig Chapman with two goals with Terry Bourne, Bob Pinter and Ron Broderick firing singles. Bill Yeo notched the other Clinton goal. and recovered fumbles on two other occasions when a Listowel back dropped the ball inside the South Huron 25 yard line. MORE SCORING In the second half, the Panthers went wild with both the offensive and defensive teams getting into the scoring act. Early in the third quarter signal caller Murray Glanville went three yards for an unconverted touchdown to up the South Huron lead to 24-U. Shortly after, Perry Stover address to Mrs. Olive Thomson and Mary Lou. Claire Sisson presented Mrs. Thomson with luggage and Donna Jones presented Mary Lou with a jewel case and necklace. Grand Bend girl is 'Miss Hope' Mr. and Mrs. Allan Miller, RR 1 Dashwood, third year student nurse at Stratford General Hospital was recently chosen "Miss Hope" of the Canadian Cancer Society, Perth Unit. - She will compete at the district level, Kitchener later this month. The contestants were judged on Personality, Appearance and a talk on "Cancer Nursing." PERSONALS A successful Euchre was held last Friday evening at St. John's-by-the-Lake Church, Grand Bend. The winners were: Mrs. Rose Gerrard, Mrs. Lloyd Baker, Mrs. Laura Mayhew, Mr. C. Hodgins, Mr. D. Martin and Mr. H. Carrot. Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Baker received word on Saturday morning of the sudden death of their son-in-law, Mr. Win Turney of Detroit. Mr. & Mrs. Donald H. Webb of Lansing, Michigan visited Sunday with his sister, Mrs. Arthur Finkbeiner and Mr. Finkbeiner. Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Belt of Milford, Michigan spent the past week with his sister, Mrs. L. A. Bariteau. Mrs. Lloyd Mason is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Mrs. Wm. Love, Mrs. Rosa Grigg, Mrs. Clarke Kennedy, Mrs. Arthur Webb, Mrs. Gerald Kading, Mrs. Wm. Blewett, attended the Regional Presbyterial meeting at Kippen last week. Gymnastics will carry on this Saturday the regular time after an absence of one week. A week from this Saturday the trampoline will be used for the first time by the gymnastic classes. Instructor on the trampoline will be Martha Kneale. Registrations for gumnastics will Still be accepted, Fee is $5.00 for the season. Minor Hockey held the spot light at the arena on Saturday with seven hockey games being played. Boston and St. Louis tangled in the first game of the day. Boston was the winner by a score of 5 to 2. Brian Horrell and Brad Taylor each scored two goals for the winners with an insurance goal added by Derek Regier. David Bogart and Dan Mittleholtz each scored a goal for St. Louis. The second game was high scoring with lots of excitement. The final score was North Stars 8 Montreal 6. Captain Perry Pooley led his team to victory with a four goal scoring spree followed closely by Steven Baynham with a Hat Trick and Eugene Clarke who started the team off on the right foot with the first goal of the game. Paul Pooley was top marksman for Montreal with three goals. Larry Lippert a goal tender for part of last year turned forward and scored 2 goals with a single score by Dennis Preszcator. In Squirt hockey Danny Bell with the highest goal production so far this season led the No. 2 team with five goals. Preston Dearing, Jeff Fuller and Paul Gaiser each scored goals. For the No. 1 team Phillip McLeod scored three, Brian Mercer two and David Atthill and Paul Van Gerwen one each. The scores in Pee Wee hockey were quite lopsided as the Seals defeated Detroit 5 to 1. Ken Pinder and Robert Heard took care of the goal production for the Seals with Ken notching three and Robert two. Steven Willert spoiled the shut out for the Seals with the only goal for Detroit. The second game was almost Shipka heads, new Rec league The Shipka Selects moved into undisputed possession of first place in the Ausable Valley recreation hockey league with their second consecutive win. Mond ay night Shipka swamped Lieury 13-4 while Sunday action saw Brinsley edge Ailsa Craig 6.5. Brinsley and Ailsa Craig share second spot with two points apiece while winless Lieury trails in the league basement. VINCENT SCORES MOST Harvey Vincent went on a real scoring spree, firing no less than eight successful shots in Shipka's 8-4 romp over Lieury. Paul Vincent scored twice while Bob Finkbeiner, Randy Boogemans and Ken Lovie fired single goals to complete the Shipka scoring. BRINSLEY SQUEAKS BY Jack Conlin's hat trick paced the tight 6-5 Brinsley win over Ailsa Craig. Bob Hodgins was next with a pair of goals while Paul Hodgson scored once. Charlie Eedy and Gwyn Griffiths each scored twice to head the Ailsa Craig scoring with Don MacAlpine notching the odd counter. Centralia Farmers Supply Ltd.
