CROMARTY
The Boy Scouts enjoyed a
hike on Saturday with Rev.
Jarvis of the Presbyterian
church, Cromarty in charge. Hot
dogs and pop were served to the
boys after the hike,.
AUXILIARY MEETING
The Marian Ritchie Auxiliary
held their Thankoffering
meeting in Cromarty
Presbyterian Church with Staffa,
Hensall, Thames Road,
Chiselhurst, Mitchell, Exeter and
• Seaforth ladies as their guests.
Mrs. Mary Popes, Toronto
was the guest speaker and spoke
on the "Amazon Binder
Foundation" in Peru.
The collection was received
by Mrs. John Templeman and
amounted to $92.00. It was
given to Mrs. Popes to aid the
Foundation.
Mrs. Eldon Allen introduced
the guest speaker and Mrs.
Caulder McKaig thanked her.
Mrs. Gerald Carey was in
charge of the meeting and
opened with a poem. Mrs. John
Miller read the scripture. Mrs.
Gordon Laing entertained on her
accordion. A social hour was
held in the basement of the
church.

annual Hallowe'en concert
Thursday evening under the
direction of Mrs. Wm. Dickey
and Mrs. Glenn Copeland.
A masquerade opened the
evening. The following were the
winners: pre school and
kindergarten best costume,

Copeland; best comic or
representation, Patricia Cowdrey
and Scott Brintnell; best

enjoyed a social evening

celebrate their 25th wedding
anniversary.

The average person eats more
than 1,500 pounds or
threequarters of a ton of food
in one year,
The Ontario Department of
Agriculture and Food reports
that about 750 pounds of this
amount is comprised of dairy
foods. Fruit and juices amount
to about 188 pounds, and
cereals, potatoes, meat and
vegetables -each account for
about 125 pounds.
About 60 pounds of poultry,
fish, and eggs are consumed each
year.
Ontario's fanners spent $74.2
million in 1968 for fertilizers
and lithe.

Candy and home baking were
sold at the close of the evening
and the children enjoyed the fish
pond.

Shipka folk
honor bride
About 45 friends, neighbors
and relatives gathered at Shipka
Community Centre Wednesday
evening to honor Miss Barbara
Sweitzer, bride-elect of early
November.
The social part of the evening
was spent playing bunco.
Winners were ladies' high, Mrs.
Rudy Zondag; ladies' low, Mrs.
Earl Ratz.
The gifts were presented to
Barb by Donna Baker and Joan
Finkbeiner.
