Hot dogs and pop were served to the boys after the hike,. AUXILIARY MEETING The Marian Ritchie Auxiliary held their Thankoffering meeting in Cromarty Presbyterian Church with Staffa, Hensall, Thames Road, Chiselhurst, Mitchell, Exeter and • Seaforth ladies as their guests. Mrs. Mary Popes, Toronto was the guest speaker and spoke on the "Amazon Binder Foundation" in Peru. The collection was received by Mrs. John Templeman and amounted to $92.00. It was given to Mrs. Popes to aid the Foundation. Mrs. Eldon Allen introduced the guest speaker and Mrs. Caulder McKaig thanked her. Mrs. Gerald Carey was in charge of the meeting and opened with a poem. Mrs. John Miller read the scripture. Mrs. Gordon Laing entertained on her accordion. Dickey and Mrs. Glenn Copeland. A masquerade opened the evening. The following were the winners: pre school and kindergarten best costume, Stephanie Hartwick and Deanna Copeland; best comic or representation, Patricia Cowdrey and Scott Brintnell; best Ii homemade costume, Barbara Jaques and Suzanne Jaques. Grades 1-4, best costume, David Spence, Paul Robinson; best comic, Paul Brine, Tern Brintnell; best homemade costume, Brian Thomson, Calvin Rodd. Grades 5-8 best costume, Linda Timms, Mary Lou Thomson; best comic, Pamela Rodd, David Tomlinson; best homemade costume, Karen Insley, David Jansson. Best couple to Grade 8, Camlachie, joined the immediate family for a dinner party held at the Dominion Hotel, Zurich. Mr. Fry and Mr. Craig were groomsman and usher respectively at the couple's wedding. Relatives and neighbours were gathered at the couples home for a surprise party and enjoyed a social evening Mr. & Mrs. Dow have two children, Carol Ann, a teacher at Galt and one son Brian at home. Mr. & Mrs. Frank Hamilton were surprised Saturday evening when friends and relatives gathered at their home to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. Euchre was played and lunch was served. The average person eats more than 1,500 pounds or threequarters of a ton of food in one year, The Ontario Department of Agriculture and Food reports that about 750 pounds of this amount is comprised of dairy foods. Shipka folk honor bride About 45 friends, neighbors and relatives gathered at Shipka Community Centre Wednesday evening to honor Miss Barbara Sweitzer, bride-elect of early November. The social part of the evening was spent playing bunco. Winners were ladies' high, Mrs. Rudy Zondag; ladies' low, Mrs. Earl Ratz. The gifts were presented to Barb by Donna Baker and Joan Finkbeiner. PERSONALS Mr. & Mrs. Chris Baumgarten of Bothwell visited a day last week with Mr. & Mrs. Harry Sheppard. Mrs. Baumgarten attended the shower for Barb Sweitzer. , Mr. & Mrs. Paul Tarpley of Florida and Mrs. Richard Denomme of Exeter visited friends and relatives in this area Wednesday. Mr. & Mrs. Carl Weiberg of Exeter visited their niece and nephew, Mr. & Mrs. Lorne Devine, Sunday. Several Shipka people had an early Hallowe'en visitor last Tuesday evening when Karen Guenther came calling. Karen went into Children's War Memorial Hospital, Thursday evening and had her tonsils and adenoids removed Friday, October 31. Mr. & Mrs. Milton Sweitzer and Mr. & Mrs. Roy Comfort and Harry of Fenwick visited Saturday evening with Mr. & Mrs. Seth Amans at Zurich. Miss Lily May Jonstoe and friend of London, visited Sunday with Miss Sandra Sweitzer and Jim. Mr. & Mrs. Lorne Passmore and family, Mr. & Mrs. Frayne Parsons and family, Mrs. Almer Passmore and family entertained Mrs. Edna Passmore, Exeter to dinner at Zurich Saturday evening. After dinner all returned to the home of Mrs. Almer Passmore where about 30 friends and relatives gathered for a social evening. The occasion was the 80th birthday of Mrs. Edna Passmore. Misses Sharon Passmore, Rodney, Barbara Dougall, Hensall and Beth Passmore spent the weekend with Miss Darlene Passmore.
