Mrs. Urant McClinchey is a patient in Victoria Hospital, London, where she underwent surgery. Recent visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Leonard Noakes and family were Gregory Peebles, Mrs. W.F. • Amess and daughter Kathy, London, Miss Romany Pinto of Ceylon and Miss Brenda Noakes. The latter two are students at the University of Western Ontario. Mrs. George Numeir and her sister Miss Jean Stewart, • Chicago, Ill., visited for a few days last week with Mrs. Mae McLellan and other cousins in and around Hensall. John Alexander, RR 2, Hensall, was taken by ambulance to South Huron Hospital, Exeter, Saturday night. Mrs. Bella McEwen, a patient The Women's Missionary Society of Carmel Presbyterian Church held their November meeting Monday evening November 3 with president Mrs, • R. A. Orr presiding. Mrs. Gordon Schwalm and Mrs. Catherine Monteith gave the devotional and study of Serenity and Peace, with a centerpiece of a white cross and red poppies as a symbol. Thirteen members answered the roll call with poems on • Peace. Thirteen visits were made to sick and shut-ins since the October meeting. Miss Susan Jinks, London, spent the weekend with her grandmother, Mrs. C. L. Jinks. Earl Bell has returned to his home in Seattle, Wash., after visiting for two weeks with his two sisters, Mrs. Thos. Drover of Staffa and Mrs. Wm. Brintnell of Hensall as well as relatives and friends. Capt. John R. Beer of Winnipeg spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Fred Beer. John Swan returned to his home in St. Catharines after visiting with friends in the village. Mr. & Mrs. Robert Price of Bloomington, Indiana visited recently with the latter's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Lorne Chapman. Mr. & Mrs. Wilmer MacGregor of Sault Ste. Marie were recent visitors with the former's Presbyterial held October 22 with Mrs. F. A. Creasey of Chatham as guest speaker, who is the London-Hamilton Synodical secretary. The Christmas meeting will be held December 1. A pot luck lunch will be served as a specialty. Mrs. Orr distributed the directions to members for knitting baby shirts for underprivileged, their winter project. Mrs. Schwalm displayed and described the souvenirs she brought from her interesting trip to Zurich, Switzerland. Ladies' Aid chaired by Mrs. Harvey Hyde held a brief business meeting. Mrs. Harry Snell acted as secretary. brother-in-law and sister, Mr. & Mrs. Edgar McClinchey. Mr. & Mrs. Jack Peebles and family of London visited this week with Mr. & Mrs. Vic Stan and Mr. & Mrs, Leonard Noakes. Mr. & Mrs. Robert Middleton and son Robbie of Wingham visited recently with Mr. & Mrs. Robert Middleton and Mr. & Mrs. Jack Simmons, Jackie and Dale. Mrs. Bertha MacGregor in company with representations from South Huron Hospital Exeter, attended the annual convention of the Ontario Hospital Association held in the Royal York Hotel, Toronto, last week. Mr. & Mrs. Lorne Chapman spent the weekend visiting with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. & Mrs. Don MacLaren and daughter Jodi in Scarborough. Collect $100 for UNICEF Principal Mr. Robert Reaburn stated that the pupils from grades 3 to 8 of Hensall Public School collected $100.00 for UNICEF Friday afternoon. The pupils were given collection boxes to take with them on Hallowe'en. The money will be turned over to the United Nations Operated Fund. Nov. 11 parade set for village Remembrance Day will be held Sunday under the auspices of the Hensall Branch of the Canadian Legion 468. Parade will form at 9:30 at the town hall and march to the cenotaph for a short service and placing of wreaths followed with a service in Carmel Presbyterian Churchat 10:00 a.m. The speaker will be Rev. All is quiet at Hallowe'en Hallowe'en passed over quietly in Hensall. The children, attired in Hallowe'en costumes of every colour and design had a busy night, calling on the local residents for goodies of every kind. Residents reported lots of callers, some having 100 children, one had 135 and another 195. The children were very polite and expressed thanks for the generous treats they received. And live a little!
