From the three sections there were 105 ladies registered. Mrs. Andrew Straughan presided, Mrs. 0. Kyle. They left by train Wednesday for Delisle, Sask. where they will reside. Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Coleman and Ruth Ann of Staffa spent Thanksgiving in Flint, Mich. The Ladies' Aid of Carmel Presbyterian Church sponsored a very successful turkey supper last Wednesday. A delicious dinner was served to 350 persons with 60 dinners sent out. Thanksgiving dinner guests with Mr. & Mrs. Robert Watson, Seaforth, were Mr. & Mrs. Fred McGregor and family, Brucefield; Mr. & Mrs. Win. Dodds, Mr. & Mrs. Don Dodds and family, Seaforth; Mr. & Mrs. Sim Roobol, Mrs. C. Christie and Catherine, Hensall; Mrs. E. Holland, Toronto; Miss Bella Watson, Galt. Mr. & Mrs. Richard McKellar and family, Mr. & Mrs. Glenn Tedball and Joanne, Thedford, Mr. & Mrs. George Smith and family, London, visited with Mr. & Mrs. Alfred Smith for Thanksgiving. Mr. and Mrs. Campbell are members of Amber Rebekah Lodge, Hensall, and the Eastern Star, Exeter. Both are members of Carmel Presbyterian Church, Hensall, and active in many offices. Their union was blessed with 10 children, nine of whom are living. One son, predeceased them last year. They have seven sons, Gerald, Lloyd, Harold, and Arnold, Exeter; Ken, Ailsa Craig, Robert, London, and Homer, Hensall; .two daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Doreen) Smith, Lucan; and Mrs, Larry (Mary) Cronyn, Centralia. Mr. Campbell's mother, Mrs, Alice Campbell, 90, was unable to attend. The couple was showered with gifts and congratulatory messages including a telegram from Pierre Elliott Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada; R. L. Stanfield, leader of the opposition; Premier John Robarts; C. S. MacNaughton, Provincial treasurer and Minister of Economics; R. E. McKinley, Huron M.P. All the grandchildren were present for the celebration. Hensall ladies bowl in tourney A bowling team from Hensall Legion Ladies Auxiliary particiapted in a bowling tournament at Wingham last Wednesday. Members of the team were Mrs. Garnet Allan, Mrs. Clarence Reid, Mrs. Hilda Smale, Mrs. Wm. Mrs. Larry Wheatley, Clinton, Home Economist for Huron County reported on the 4-II club work in the county and presented the $100 scholarship to Mrs. Ross Oke, Exeter, for her daughter Miss Dianne Oke, a Provincial Honor student through the 4-H club, who is attending Waterloo University, It was decided to continue with the Children's Aid Bursary. Mrs, Garnet Hicks, Exeter, was elected as secretary, and auditors elected were Mrs. Harvey Hodgins and Mrs. Walter Weber, Crediton W.I. Branch. There were interesting displays on hobby crafts and the exhibitors of each told Tour museum after meeting Chiselhurst UCW held their October meeting in Grand Bend. The worship service was held in the chapel at the Eisenbach Museum. The worship "Responsible Stewardship" was offered by Mrs. Clarence Coleman. Prayer was led by Mrs. Alvin Cole and the offering taken up by Mrs. Percy Wright. A tour of the museum was enjoyed by all the ladies. The remainder of the meeting was held at the cottage of Mrs. Gerald Glenn. Mrs. Thos. Brintnell conducted the business. The annual bazaar will be held October 29. Mrs. Russell Brock contributed a poem in keeping with Thanksgiving. Hostesses for the day were Mrs. Jack Brintnell, Mrs. Ross Riley and Mrs. George Boa. interesting details of the items. A buffet luncheon was enjoyed during the noon hour. Mrs. Wes Bradnock of Auburn presided for the afternoon session. An afternoon meditation was presented by the local minister using as his theme "Obedience". An invitation was extended by South Huron for the 1970 Rally. A highlight of the day was a demonstration by Mrs. Sam Argyle of Goderich on floral arrangements. Attending from Hensall were Mrs. Carl Payne, Mrs. James McAllister, Mrs. Wilbert Dilling, Mrs. Elizabeth Riley and Mrs. R. M. Peck. Health nurse explains service The various aspects of the work of the Huron County Health Unit was described and illustrated with slides by health nurse Mrs. Betty Card no at the October meeting of Hensall Womens Institute. The speaker was introduced by Mrs. Carl Payne and thanked by Mrs. T. Sherritt. Kippen and Seaforth branches were guests at the meeting. A quartette of Kippen ladies, Mrs. Wm. Kyle, Mrs. Harry Caldwell, Mrs. Ken McKay and Mrs. R. Kinsman sang and readings were given by Mrs. Coleman, Seaforth, and Mrs. Jack Corbett. In the business session conducted by vice-president Mrs. Corbett in the absence of the president, it was decided to send $15 to the CNIB. Mrs. Al Hoggarth and Mrs. Andrew Turnbull were winners in the raffle. Hostesses were Mrs. Pearl Koehler and Mrs. Elizabeth Riley. Program conveners Mrs. Walker Carlile and Mrs. R. A. Orr. Legion Hall at Clinton last Thursday when Hon. H. L. Rountree Q.C. was the evening guest speaker. Hart/ Adams, Bill Morenz and Al Lavery, spent the weekend in Mio Michigan with Mr. & Mrs. Roy Boerner and family. Mr. & Mrs. Don Adams spent the holiday weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Roy Henderson and family at Somers, Connecticut. Brock, Mark and Clark Adams were with their grandparents, Mr, & Mrs. Les Adams. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Campbell ¤ of Hensall celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Wednesday, October 8 with a family dinner held at the Legion Hall, Exeter, attended by 80 members of their family who presented each of the celebrants with a gold wrist watch. • A reception followed with members of Hensall Council, ex-wardens of Huron County and friends attending. Their marriage of fifty years ago was solemnized in London by Rev. J. A. Agnew. They resided in Hay Township until nine years ago when hey took up • residence in Hensall. Mrs. Campbell, the former Maggie May Nunn, holds the office of Noble Grand of Hensall Amber Rebekah Lodge. Mr. Campbell is presently clerk-treasurer of the village of • Hensall. He is a former Warden of Huron County, a former Hay Legion Aux. marks date Nineteen members of Hensall Legion Ladies' Auxiliary enjoyed a banquet last Tuesday evening celebrating the 20th birthday of their Auxiliary. At a brief meeting following • the banquet six members were presented with 20 year membership pins. Twelve were eligible. The remaining six will receive their pins at a later date. President Mrs. Garnet Allan made the presentations and also presided. In other business $10 was donated to the C.N.I.B. Members willalso canvass for this project. It was announced that an Auxiliary card party will be held in Clinton, October 21. Plans were finalized for a dance at the local community • centre October 18 when the money draw will be made. In the draws Mrs. Ted Roberts won the attendance prize; Guessing, Mrs. Grant Bisback; mystery, Mrs. Clarence Reid. Mrs. Garnet Allan was the winner of a special birthday draw.
