WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Usborne passed By-law No. 10- 1956 pursuant to the provisions of the Tile Drainage Act, R.S.O. 1960, Chapter 399, to raise $200,000.00 to aid in the con- struction of tile, stone or tim- ber drains, and WHEREAS in 1966 The Tile Drainage Act was amended by R.S.O. Chap. 155 to provide that a municipality might raise $300,000.00 for the purposes of the Act, and WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Usborne has loaned under the provisions of the Act and there remains unpaid an amount rap- idly approaching the limits of By-law No. 10-1956. THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Town- ship of Usborne deems it ex- pedient to amend and replace By-law No. 10-1956, and pursu- ant to The Tile Drainage Act as Amended, enacts as follows: as in Form 1 of the Act: 1. The Reeve may from time to time, subject to the provi- sions of this by-law, borrow on the credit of the corporation of the Municipality such sum not exceeding in the whole $300,000.00 as may be determined by the Council, and may in manner hereinafter provided, issue de- bentures of the corporation in such sums as the Council may deem proper for the amount so borrowed, with coupons attach- ed as provided in section 4 of the Act. 2. Subject to section 10 of The .Tile Drainage Act, when Council is of opinion that the application of any person to borrow money for the purpose of constructing a tile, stone or timber drain should be granted in whole or in part, the Coun- cil may, by resolution, direct the Reeve to issue debentures as aforesaid and to borrow a sum not exceeding the amount applied for, and may lend the same to the applicant on the completion of the drainage works. 3. A special annual rate shall be imposed, levied and col- leeted over and above all other rates upon the land in respect of which the money is bor- rowed, sufficient for the pay- menh of the principal and in- terest as provided by the Act. President Mrs. Carman Woodburn took over the business part of the meeting, which consisted of setting the date for bazaar to be held November 1 at 2:30 p.m. A meeting of the executive was held to deal with different items of business and then brought to the meeting as a whole, One main item was the painting of the church auditorium, basement and front steps.
