After Friday's event, only $100 remains to be paid, Music was supplied by the Talismen and one of the members is Jim Marshall, a teacher at Parkhill High School, WI The Clandeboye WI met at the home of Mrs. Norman Hardy. President Mrs. Roy Cunningham opened the meeting. Thirteen members and two guests were present. Five members of the 4-H Garden Club were present including Carolyn Hardy, Nancy Hardy, Susan Hardy, Judy Hendrie and Betty Scott. Mrs. W. Scott, leade,., presented the girls with their silver spoons. • Nancy Hardy played a piano selection. Mrs. Arnold Blake gave a reading and Mrs. Wilmer Scott led a contest. Mrs. R. Worthington will continue her studies on "rocus on Fitness." Next meeting will be at the home of Karl O'Neil, Lucan, October 8. PERSONALS Mrs. Joan Boggs and her daughters, Vicki and Tracy, Germany, arrived home September 10 to spend some time with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Murless. Sgt. Boggs is still on duty in Germany. In the annual draw sponsored by the Fair Board, the first ticket drawn will entitle the holder to a hind quarter of beef donated by Exeter District Co-op. The second prize is one-half of pork through the courtesy of fair secretary Garnet Hicks. A dressed lamb from the farm of John K. Riddell goes to the third ticket drawn and fourth prize is a dressed turkey, donated by fair president Harry Hem. Members of the fair executive will be selling tickets. These classes are open to all those 12 years of age and over. The confirmation service will be held at St. James Church, Wednesday, October 22 at 8 p.m. A.Y.M. Members of the Anglican Youth Movement will hold a corporate communion, Sunday, September 21 at 8 a.m. Their regular meeting will be held Monday, Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. CHOIR Music Director William Loosemore is hoping to have more men in the choir. Practice is Thursday evening 8 p.m. Church Women held their September general meeting at the Church last Tuesday, with the president. Mrs. J. W. Lockyer in the chair. Mrs. Duncan McPhee read an article on "Stewardship" and continued with a Bible reading and prayer. After a short business meeting at which it was agreed to hold the Annual Christmas Bazaar December 5. Miss Iva Stanley showed the pictures she had taken during her tour of Europe and the Middle East, including Palestine, and gave descriptions and history of the various places she had visited. Lunch was served by Mrs. I. Carling, Mrs. Lockyer, and Mrs. Robert Patterson. It was decided to make arrangements to repair the Church Missals. HI-C The first fall meeting of the Hi-C was held at the Lucan United Church with 15 present. Executive for the year were appointed as follows: president Grace Smith; secretary Janice Freeman; treasurer Pat Smith; two social conveners, Lloyd Crudge and Donna Walker. Eleanor Walker was appointed to the new post of counsellor. Next meeting will be held September 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Church. PERSONALS Last Monday Miss Lina Abbott visited the following residents at Marionvilla in London: Misses Sadie and Tena MacPherson, formerly of Ailsa Craig; Mrs. John Affleck, formerly of Alice Street, Lucan; and Mr. & Mrs. Charlie Towers, who celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary September 16. Miss Catherine Wallace of Seattle, Wash., was a recent visitor with her cousin, Mrs. Cecil Robb.
