Close to completing debt
of .Clandeboye street lights

A street dance was held
Friday evening in Clandeboye to
raise dollars to pay off the cost
of the new lights. After Friday's
event, only $100 remains to be
paid,
Music was supplied by the
Talismen and one of the
members is Jim Marshall, a
teacher at Parkhill High School,

The Clandeboye WI met at
the home of Mrs. Norman
Hardy. President Mrs. Roy
Cunningham opened the
meeting. Thirteen members and
two guests were present.
Five members of the 4-H
Garden Club were present
including Carolyn Hardy, Nancy
Hardy, Susan Hardy, Judy
Hendrie and Betty Scott. Mrs.
W. Scott, leade,., presented the
girls with their silver spoons.
• Nancy Hardy played a piano
selection. Mrs. Arnold Blake
gave a reading and Mrs. Wilmer
Scott led a contest. Mrs. R.
Worthington will continue her
studies on "rocus on Fitness."
Next meeting will be at the
home of Karl O'Neil, Lucan,
October 8.
PERSONALS
Mrs. Joan Boggs and her
daughters, Vicki and Tracy,
Germany, arrived home
September 10 to spend some
time with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Harry Murless. Sgt. Boggs is
still on duty in Germany.
Anniversary service at the
United Church will be October
19 and September 28 is the day
at St. James Church for the

Chance for
lots of meat
Visitors to the Exeter Fall
Fair on Friday night and
Saturday will have the chance to
stock up on their meat Supplies.
for a nominal sum.
In the annual draw sponsored
by the Fair Board, the first
ticket drawn will entitle the
holder to a hind quarter of beef
donated by Exeter District
Co-op. The second prize is
one-half of pork through the
courtesy of fair secretary Garnet
Hicks. A dressed lamb from the
farm of John K. Riddell goes to
the third ticket drawn and
fourth prize is a dressed turkey,
donated by fair president Harry
Hem.
Members of the fair executive
will be selling tickets. The draw
will be held during the dance
Saturday night.

Victoria Hospital at time of
writing, having undergone eye
surgery.
Mr. & Mrs. Ray Switzer of
North Bay spent the weekend
with Mr. & Mrs. Jack Switzer.
Mrs. Leslie Fairbairn and Mrs.
Collins and their daughters of
London visited Sunday with
Mrs. Wm. J. Blackler.
Mr. & Mrs. Ronald Denham
and Mr. & Mrs. Burns Blackler
attended an Orange Rally at
Fordwich Sunday morning.

ANGLICAN
Confirmation classes will be
held Wednesdays at 7 p.m. in St.
James Church, Clandeboye.
These classes are open to all
those 12 years of age and over.
The confirmation service will
be held at St. James Church,
Wednesday, October 22 at 8
p.m.
A.Y.M.
Members of the Anglican
Youth Movement will hold a
corporate communion, Sunday,
September 21 at 8 a.m. Their
regular meeting will be held
Monday, Sept. 22 at 8 p.m.
CHOIR
Music Director William
Loosemore is hoping to have
more men in the choir. Practice
is Thursday evening 8 p.m.
Church Women held their
September general meeting at
the Church last Tuesday, with
the president. Mrs. J. W.
Lockyer in the chair.
Mrs. Duncan McPhee read an
article on "Stewardship" and
continued with a Bible reading
and prayer.
After a short business
meeting at which it was agreed
to hold the Annual Christmas
Bazaar December 5. Miss Iva
Stanley showed the pictures she
had taken during her tour of
Europe and the Middle East,
including Palestine, and gave
descriptions and history of the
various places she had visited.
Lunch was served by Mrs. I.
Carling, Mrs. Lockyer, and Mrs.
Robert Patterson.

The Great Chapter of West
Middlesex Deanery will meet at
8:30 p.m. Monday, September
29 in Grace Church, Ilderton. To
this meeting, the church
wardens, lay delegates and
substitute delegates, and the
clergy go to discuss world
poverty, Mission '70 and the
Projects for 1970.

Church, held their regular
monthly meeting September 9 in
the old school.
Mrs. Leo Morkin read a
poem.
Plans were discussed for the
forthcoming bazaar and bake
sale to be held October 17 in the
Lucan Arena. Draw tickets were
distributed.
It was decided to make
arrangements to repair the
Church Missals.

The first fall meeting of the
Hi-C was held at the Lucan
United Church with 15 present.
Executive for the year were
appointed as follows: president
Grace Smith; secretary Janice
Freeman; treasurer Pat Smith;
two social conveners, Lloyd
Crudge and Donna Walker.
Eleanor Walker was
appointed to the new post of
counsellor.
Next meeting will be held
September 28 at 7:30 p.m. at
the Church.
