HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Exeter Times-Advocate, 1969-09-11, Page 26will be the Women's Institute
displays.
There are nine Institutes in
the South Huron district.
Usually six or seven of them
take the time and effort to put
together a fine showing of
articles that can be handcrafted
for and in the home.
Every year the theme is
different. The ideas for the
theme come from the various
Institutes and this year the
group at Dashwood chose
handicrafts.
In the booklet published
prior to the fair, officials noted
that this year's display by the
Institutes will consist of one
knitted item, one crocheted
item, something painted, a piece
of needlepoint and one
embroidered item.
All these should be suitable
for a child's room.
The variety is endless,
especially with so many talented
and energetic housewives in the
district who are ready and
counting blessings.
A tasty lunch was served by
Mrs. Greene and Mrs. Gibson
assisted by the hostess.

WI displays attract attention of fairgoers
By far one of the most
interesting sights for the women
at Exeter Fall Fair this weekend
ACW hear
two reports
The Anglican Church Women
of Trivitt Memorial Church met
at the rectory for their first
meeting of the Fall session with
an attendance of 20 ladies.
Several new members were
welcomed and introduced by the
hostess, Mrs. George Anderson.
President, Mrs. Andrew
Carter along with Mrs. Wells,
Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Les Gibson
and Mrs. Flossie Dickens led in
opening devotions.
Mrs. Murray Greene reported
on the co-op barbecue from
which $245 has been given to •
the Missionary appointment.
Mrs. Les Gibson reported on
the Fun Day baking booth,
receipts from which are to be
used on Church improvements.
Mrs. Carter read a paper on
willing to contribute their
handiwork to the WI display.
It is understood the
Dashwood display this year will
include a hand-crocheted rug
and a hand-painted quilt.
Conveners will be Mrs. Eben
Weigand and Mrs. Stuart Wolfe.
The fair board offers $5 to
each Institute that enters a
suitable display for fair day.
Even so, competition is keen
between the ladies of the South
Huron area who enjoy WI work.
