T-A photo Hawks enter "D" loop for coming season • • Weather again slows bowlers • The weatherman stepped in Tuesday night and forced cancellation of the regular jitney activities at the Exeter lawn bowling club for one of the few times this summer, In Saturday's club play, Olive • Harvey won two games and came up with a plus of 13 and aggregate of 26 to take the top prize. In second spot was a veteran competitor Walter Hodge with a similar two win record, a plus of , 10 and aggregate of 24. Third • place went to 'Alien Pym with a plus of 9 and aggregate of 21 to go with a double victory. The season for the local club closes officiily next Wednesday afternoon, September 24 with a pot luck supper at five o'clock with a club jitney to follow, Members will still continue to bowl whoever the weather permits. Publicity chairman Howard hee said "We'll be at it until the slow flies." At a meeting of the executive of the Exeter Minor Hockey Association held last week it was decided to enter the Exeter Hawks in OHA Junior "D" play. It is expected the Hawks will be grouped with Zurich, Mitchell, Luean, Lambeth and Belmo nt, Some members of last year's Hawk club are working out with • various Junior "A" and "B" teams. Barry Baynham has been in Toronto gince Thursday practicing with the Toronto Marlboros and was still with the club Wednesday morning. Tom Hodgins, another 1963-69 Hawk also went to Toronto but returned home Sunday night. Bill Fairbairn is with the Sarnia Junior "B" club practicing in Petrolia. Jim Hayter returned to Dashwood Judging of the field erPp competitions being held in conjunction with the Exeter Fall Fair were completed early this week end the results have been released by secretary Garnet Hicks. Howard Johns with a score of 94 led the grain corn division while a score of 941/2 allowed Lorne Passmore to take the top prize in ensilage corn by a half-point over Lorne Hern. The white bean competition was headed by William Dougall with a score of 94 whileAndy Dougall and Lorne Passrnore were deadlocked at 9$. Others in the top ten in each class were as follows: Grain corn — Gordon Strang, Lorne Passmore, Edwin Miller, Hera Farms, Andy Dougall, Allan Rundle, Gerald Hern, Ray Cann and George Sereda. Ensilage Corn — Allan Rundle, Howard Pym, Edwin Miller, Hern Farms, Ray Cann, Tom Triebner, Winston Shapton and Gerald Dearing.
