King Kong dies;
children miss pet
King Kong is dead .again.
Actually it is ,King Kong /1-
who has died. He ,was a squirrel
Monkey who was the adored pet
of the children in the
neighborhood of Gidley,
Baldwin and Andrew Streets.
His owner was Ken Anderson.
King Kong II had lived with the.
Andersons for exactly one year.
Without trace of .previous
King Kong II was found dead in
his :cage Wednesday, September

determine the cause of . his
sudden demise.
King Kong II will be greatly
missed, by the children he had
fascinated for SQ long.
OPEN CORNERSTONES OF CREDITON CHURCH — Sunday afternoon officials of the former
Crediton United Church that was destroyed by fire earlier this year, opened cornerstones of the building.

Monday afternoon at the
Green Gables Nursing Home,
Parkhill, Mrs. Minnie Lewis
celebrated her 90th birthday
with her two sons, Mr, and Mrs.
Elmer Lewis, Toronto, and Mr.
and Mrs, Alvin Lewis, RR 3
Ailsa. Craig, attending,
Twenty guests were on hand
for the party when a birthday
cake and tea were served.
Mrs, Lewis has been confined
to a wheel chair for more than
20 years. Up until two years ago,
the celebrant was able to keep
her own home and garden.

County board picks
important committees
The J.A.D.McCurdy Public
School at Huron Park, Centralia,
now has four empty classrooms,
two of which are being used as
music and art rooms and two for
storage, it was reported at the
first autumn meeting of Huron
County Board of Education held
in the Board Room, Central
Huron Secondary School,
Clinton, last week,
However, the former RCAF
and CEB school reported an
enrolment of 342 on opening
day, as against 261 on September
30 a year ago, indicating an
increase of 81 pupils or 31 per
tent. Parents of many of the
children are employed in
London and elsewhere.
Arnold Mathers, principal of
Huron Centennial Public School,
south of Brucefield, pointed out
an error in the schools
enrolment report for opening
day which credited his school
with "emptiness" rather than
the Centralia school,
Among other business items,
the Board instructed D.J.
Cochrane, director of education,
to prepare a Est of approved text
books; J. W, Coulter,
superintendent of schools, to
Make a survey of special
educational problems; and R,B.
Dunlop, business administrator,
to make a survey of cafeteria
operation. The three officials
