TILE DRAINAGE ASSISTANCE
BY-LAW.
A by-law to raise $300,000.00 to
aid in the construction of tile
drains.
WHEREAS the Council of the
Corporation of the Township of
Usborne passed By-law No. 10-
1956 pursuant to •the provisions
of the Tile Drainage Act, R.S.O.
1960, Chapter 399, to raise
$200,000.00 to aid in the con-
struction of tile, stone or tim-
ber drains, and
WHEREAS in 1966 The Tile
Drainage Act was amended by
R.S.O. Chap. 155 to provide that
a municipality might raise
$300,000.00 for the purposes of
the Act, and
WHEREAS the Council of the
Corporation of the Township of
Usborne has loaned under the
provisions of the Act and there
remains unpaid an amount rap-
idly approaching the limits of
By-law No. 10-1956.
THEREFORE the Council of
the Corporation of the Town-
ship of Usborne deems it ex-
pedient to amend and replace
By-law No. 10-1956, and pursu-
ant to The Tile Drainage Act
as Amended, enacts as follows:
as in Form 1 of the Act:
1. The Reeve may from time
to time, subject to the provi-
sions of this by-law, borrow on
the credit of the corporation of
the Municipality such sum not
exceeding in the whole $300,000.00
as may be determined by the
Council, and may in manner
hereinafter provided, issue de-
bentures of the corporation in
such sums as the Council may
deem proper for the amount so
borrowed, with coupons attach-
ed as provided in section 4 of
the Act, .
2. Subject to section 10 of
The Tile Drainage Act, when
Council is of opinion that the
application of any person to
borrow money for the purpose
of constructing a tile, stone or
timber drain should be granted
in whole or in part, the Coun-
cil may, by resolution, direct
the Reeve to issue debentures
as aforesaid and to borrow a
sum not exceeding the amount
applied for, and may lend the
same to the applicant on the
completion of the drainage
works.
3. A special annual rate shall
be imposed, levied and cel-
lected over and above all other
rates upon the land in respect
of which the money is bor-
rowed, sufficient for the pay-
ment of the principal and in-
terest as provided by the Act.

4-H MEETING
The 4-H girl club No. 2 for
"Needlecraft" with Mrs.
Leonard Schenk and Mrs. Glen
Webb leaders and 13 girls held
their organization meeting,
Monday, September S.
The leaders discussed the
project with the girls.

PERSONALS
Mr. & Mrs. Harold Schroeder
and Mr. & Mrs. Jack Schroeder
flew to Edmonton, Alberta,
where they attended the
B ruglemann — Schroeder
wedding. The bride is their
niece. They also visited relatives
at Windthorst.
Mrs. Lloyd Howe, Mary-Jo
and Shelley of London spent the
weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Irvin
Rader and family.

The Dashwood W.I. resumed
their regular schedule of
meetings with the first meeting
in charge of the Historical
Research and Current Events
group with Mrs. Leonard
Schenk, convener.
Roll call was "an old
fashioned custom you would
like to see either discarded or
kept".
Fifteen members and one
visitor was present for the
contest for new members.
Mrs. Irvin Rader discussed the
motto, People like fire, take on
new brightness if you stir them
up a bit.
A panel show followed
patterned • after "Act Fast"
dealing with current and past
events.
The Tweedsmuir History
book was on display and Mrs.
Leonard Schenk showed the
correct method of putting in
invisible zippers.
Mrs. Howard Maier,
president, dealt with the
business. Mrs. Eben Weigand and
Mrs. Stuart Wolfe are in charge
of the display at Exeter Fair.
A bake sale and lunch
counter will be held at the next
ball game.
A short course "Fashion Cues
for You" will be held in April.
