A yearly attraction at the popular local event, Bill Brady of CFPL Radio in London will be back again and he has a big surprise in store for everybody. Bill declined to disclose the nature of his act when contacted by the T-A Wednesday morning, but did say it would be very unusual. "In other years, I've covered most areas of the rodeo by riding bareback, bronco riding and tackling the brahma bulls, so there is only one thing left to do and it has never been done before," added Brady. "There will be some danger involved, maybe not to me, but to the spectators. The committee members are not too keen to have me do this particular daring act, but I can't disappoint my many friends in the Exeter areas All I can say is that it Will be typical of the west, possibly not completely of a rodeo theme," continued the popular London MC. Due to prior broadcasting cotnmittments Brady will not be able to participate in the parade on Saturday, fM'PL will be broadcasting live froth the Exeter Park on Sunday from noon to five in the afternoon with Jack Nixon handling the announcing chores with Brady dropping in from time to time. Brady has surprise for rodeo spectators Reeve Thompson said his council would have settled for $7,000 the price Hensall is asking the townships as their share in the proposed new fire engine the village hopes to buy. He added that Hay Township officials were only ready to pay $5,500 — and neither Hay or Hensall was willing to bargain further, According to Reeve Thompson, his council is divided on the matter, Tuckersmith already owns a 50 percent share in the Brucefield fire engine as well 'as shares in the engines in Clinton and Seaforth. He noted that a 50 percent share of the Brucefield truck will cost less than a one-third share in the Hensall truck, and some councillors in Tuckersmith are unhappy about this fact., Thompson did indicate, however, that his council would have reached a settlement with Hensall Tuesday evening had Hay and Hensall been ready to negotiate. • The Tuckersmith reeve explained that Hay Township has fire agreements with Grand Bend, Zurich, Dashwood, Hensall and Exeter. Hay fears that if they go for a $7,000 share in the Hensall truck, the other four municipalities would soon agitate for increased funds. The eastern portions of Hay Township are fairly well serviced by Exeter to the south, Zurich to the west and Brucefield to the north, if need arises. There is some thought that Hay may not be too anxious to reach an agreement with Hensall for this reason although certain taxpayers have indicated their preference for protection from near-by Hensall. Whether or not Hensall will offer Hay Township fire protection on the basis of an annual retainer fee, remains to be seen. Tuckersmith council however, has given notice that whatever agreement is reached between Hensall and Hay will be the type of agreement by which their council will be bound also. The present agreement between Hensall and Hay terminates at the end of September. Fire agreement meeting 'doesn't get anywhere' Dick Manore, a well-known resident of Grand . Bend, has received special recognition this month from John C. Utz of the American Motors Sales Corporation and three of his friends, all from the Detroit area. Dick operates Manore Marina in Grand Bend. In a letter to David S. Fenn, publisher of the Grand Bend Times, Mr. Utz commended Manore for "courtesies and accommodations far beyond what one would normally expect in visiting any community." Writes Mr. Utz: "When we arrived in Grand Bend aboard four cruisers, we found, as I am certain many boaters have found, very few public spaces to accommodate our boats. Had it not been for this one outstanding member of your community, I am certain we would have proceeded on to some other point along Lake Huron. "Whatever the facilities he so graciously provided us lacked, they were far and away offset by the many generous courtesies extended by him and members of his organization. "Within the first four hours, each of us had agreed that providing the Ausable River did not completely dry up, Grand Bend was a community in which we intended to spend our entire vacation. Certainly the lake, the scenery, the family entertainment contributed to our decision to remain, but the single, most important factor was a gentleman by the name of Dick Manore. I would commend him to your community, to your Chamber of Commerce and to the merchants and residents as By MRS.
