INTO THE BRINK, GANG - These Hensall kids seem to have mixed emotions about instructions from
Judy Glover to jump feet first into the Exeter swimming pool, The two gals in mid-air are apprehensive
about their immediate fate while the boys waiting in line watch carefully, One lad is even' chewing his
fists, probably from excitement. T-A photo

Queen's Park to the people in
this way, we have established a
greatly improved
rapportbetween the two levels of
government with the realization
that we are all working towards
the same objective - ,to make
local government stronger and
more effective," Mr, McKeough
said.
The series of dialogue
meetings was announced by
Prime Minister Roberts on June
25 at the annual conference of
the Association of Ontario
Mayors and Reeves.
The Prime Minister stressed
the meetings were important to
both the Province and the
municipalities so that both levels
of government could properly
grasp each other's point of view
and together develop a
meaningful program for
improving municipal functions,
Mr. Roberts said major
municipal reforms are essential
in order to equip local
governments to handle the
greatly increased challenges of
modern society.
"The ultimate objective of
these reforms is to return more
responsibilities and duties to
stronger local governments," he
added.
The three Northern Ontario
meetings - in Timmins, Sudbury
and Thunder Bay - were
announced earlier by Mines
Minister Allan Lawrence.
