Mrs, Cal Horton, RR 5 Clinton, is a patient in Clinton Public Hospital with severe burns to her body as the result of an accident. Mrs. Horton upset a teapot of scalding tea • over herself. Fred Peters is a patient in Clinton Public Hospital. Mr. & Mrs, Keith Lindsay and family, Bridgeport, and Mr. & Mrs." Bryan Underwood, Gorrie, were recent guests with Mrs. John Henderson and family. Ray McKenzie of Vancouver, 4! flew here for a vacation with relatives and friends. Earl McEwen visited with Friends fete • recent bride Complimenting Miss Margaret Allan, bride-elect of Saturday, friends, neighbors and relatives honored her with a miscellaneous shower at the Legion Hall, July 30. The hall was decorated in pink and white and vases of pink and white mums. Reading the presentation address was Mrs. Roland Vanstone, while the lovely gifts were presented to Margie by • Peggy Vanstone, Shirley Smale and Joan Allan. Miss Greta Lammie provided piano music. The bride's book compiled by Mrs. J, E. McEwen was also presented to the bride-elect. In charge of the shower was Mrs. Grant McClinchey, assisted by Mrs. Howard Smale, Mrs. Clarence Reid, Mrs. Grant Bisback, Mrs. Wm. Smale, Mrs. George Sine's and Mrs. Vanstone. Refreshments were served. Guests attended from Preston, Seaforth, Exeter, • Zurich and Hensall, relatives in the district recently, Mr & Mrs. D. R. Paterson and daughter, Mrs. Marion Peart, Toronto, were recent visitors with Mr. J.F.W. Paterson and his niece, Miss Cassie Dougall. Randy Parker, four-year old Hensall lady takes prizes Winners of the handicrafts competition in the Women's Division, Canadian National Exhibition have been announced and included several entrants from Southwestern Ontario. Miss Greta Lammie, Hensall, was a first and second prize winner for knitting by the blind. By MRS. J. TEMPLEMAN Miss Patti Norris entertained a number of her girlfriends Friday at a swimming party at Seaforth Lions Park with supper later at her home. Present were Misses Dianne Brown, Dublin, Dianne Miller, Carol Miller, Ruth Jeffery, Ruth and Mary Jane Templeman and Linda Miller. Linda remained overnight with Patti. Mr. & Mrs. Johnny Miller and family are holidaying this week at Wasaga Beach.. Sunday visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Bob Norris and family were Ross McNicol, Kippen, and Mr. & Mrs. John Burleigh and family, Goderich. Jackie Burleigh remained for a week's holidays and Susan and Jill Norris returned home with Joan Burleigh for holidays. Mr. & Mrs. Russell Miller and family are holidaying this week with friends in Indiana. Misses Karen and Shirley and Steven Miller holidayed last week with their grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. E. Willard, Exeter. Mrs. Lloyd Miller and Dianne, Mrs, John Templeman and girls attended a shower Saturday everting at the home of Mrs. Robert Mayer, Farquhar, honouring Miss Fay Templeman bride-elect. son of Mr. & Mrs. George Parker who underwent eye surgery in St. Joseph's Hospital, London, was able to return to his home, Mrs. Ruth Adair of London visited last week with her brother-in-law and sister Mr. & Mrs. Ernie Chipchase. Mrs. Amelia Schroeder who has been holidaying in Stratford and Sarnia is spending a few weeks with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Ed Schroeder, Mrs. R. MacLean returned home after spending two weeks vacation with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. & Mrs. Wilson Broadfoot in Goderich. Mrs. Pearl Shaddick visited recently with Mr. & Mrs. Harold Scruton in Port Dover, Miss Lois Simmons R.N. of London visited over the weekend with her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Jack Simmons. Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Holland and daughter Gwen of Clinton were recent visitors with Mr. & Mrs. James Sangster and Bradley. Flowers in the Sanctuary of the United Church Sunday morning were in loving memory of Mrs. Stewart McQueen and Harold Bell, placed by their families. District farmer dies near home Harold Bell, 59, RR 2 Hensall, was killed Monday afternoon August 4 when his tractor drawing a grain wagon was struck from the rear by a car Surviving are his wife, the former Edith McBride; four daughters, Mrs. Ron (Shirley) Passmore, London; Mrs. Ken (Patricia) Pollock, RR 1 Hensall; Mrs. Bob (Betty) Beaver, Paris; Sylvia at home; one son, Donald, Grand Bend; one sister, Mrs. Jack (Marie) Carter, Waterloo; and nine grandchildren. Public funeral service was conducted by Rev, W. D. Jarvis from the Bonthron Funeral Home, Thursday. Burial was in Exeter cemetery. Pallbearers were Earl Campbell, Percy Campbell, Glenn Bell, Lloyd Mousseau, Don Mousseau and Edison McLean. Hensall United Church was the setting for a lovely summer wedding Saturday when Margaret Louise Allan and Gordon Murray McDonald exchanged marriage vows before the Rev. Harold F. Currie in a double ring ceremony amid a floral background of baskets of gladioli. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Garnet Allan, Hensall, and the groom is the son of Mrs, Norman McDonald, Exeter, and the late Mr. McDonald. Traditional wedding music was provided by Mrs. John Turkheim at the organ console. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor-length gown of white French taffeta styled with long lily point sleeves, raised self flowers accenting the bodice and train. The detachable train extended from shoulder to the floor and her shoulder-length veil was caught to a tiara of seed pearls and lily of the valley. She carried a cascade of red roses and white daisies. Bridal attendant, matron of honor Mrs. Pearl Elliott, Exeter, was gowned in floor-length empire waist mauve gown with train . and headpiece accented with Guipure lace. She carried a nosegay of white daisies and white roses, Flowergirl Donna Jean Allan, os,:rerm wivV,..1-04-4,,s', sister of the bride, was costumed in a mauve street-length dress of nylon over satin with daisy headband. She carried a basket of white daisies. Barry Southcott, Exeter, was groomsman and Tom Elliott, Exeter, ushered guests. For receiving at the wedding reception held in the Hensall Legion Hall, the bride's mother, chose an A-Line gown of blue and white bonded fortrel with white accessories and corsage of yellow mums. The groom's mother wore a turquoise dress of crinkle crepe with accessories in white and wore a corsage of pink mums. Serving guests at the wedding dinner were the Misses Linda Reid, Peggy Vanstone and Sandra Maxwell. For travelling on their wedding trip the bride wore pink A-line dress of bonded linen weave rayon with puffed sleeves and white accessories with which she wore a corsage of white mums. The young couple will reside at 106 William Street, Exeter. Prior to marriage the bride was honored at several showers and presentations. Mrs. Pearl Elliott of Exeter was hostess for a miscellaneous shower, and neighbors, friends and relatives arranged a shower held in the Legion Hall, Hensall. ay4/1135.161144,1AIM ,ROHOE Joe Kernick, Mr. & Mrs. Donald Kernick, Margaret, 'red and Mary attended the liarburn-McLeod wedding at Lieury United Church Saturday. Miss Margaret Kernick served at the wedding. They attended the reception and dance at night at West McGillivray Townshin. Hall. Mr. & Mrs. Bert Heaman and Man visiting from Scotland By MRS. Mrs. N. Long visited Wednesday with Rev. & Mrs. D. A. MacMillan, London. Mr. & Mrs. Jim Jordan of London entertained her mother, Mrs, Herb Kercher August 3 to a birthday dinner and supper, Those present included Mr. & Mrs, Spencer Jeffery and family and Mrs. Rhea Jeffery of Dublin, Mrs, Robert Dalrymple, Brucefield, and Mr. & Mrs. Stewart Beattie, Wingham visited Mrs, E. McBride Thursday evening. Mr. & Mrs. Ross Carter, Jimmy and Donna of Essex spent the week end with Mr, & Mrs. Nelson Hood. Saturday visitors with Robert Thomson were Mr. & Mrs. David Moyer of Parry Sound and Mr. & Mrs. Lorne Schneider and three children of Stratford. Mrs. N. Long returned home from a vacation spent in Owen Sound with Mr. & Mrs. John Long. While there she attended the McKee family picnic at Harrison Park and the 50th golden wedding anniversary of Mr. & Mrs. Jim Howell at Kemble, on the shore, Mr. & Mrs. Leslie Campbell, Cheryl, Jeffrey and Beverley spent Sunday with the former 's aunt and uncle Mr. & Mrs. Eldin Kerr. Cheryl and Jeffrey stayed for a few holidays. Goth of London was guest speaker, Mrs. William Thomson. of Exeter, Mr. & Mrs. William Rohde called last Sunday at the Lindsay Funeral Home St. Marys, where the late Clarence Mills lay at rest, and also at the Needham Funeral Home London where their cousin, the late Mrs. Robert Quinn lay at rest, They were Sunday evening guests with Mr. & Mrs. Clayton Hanna of London. Rev. Stewart and Mrs. Miner, Charles and John spent part of last week in Northern Ontario. Murray Dixon of Ailsa Craig is holidaying with Michael Stewart, Roger Dougall of Hensall visited a few days with Barry Miller.
