T-A photo 4 • OHSIP is the new, standard, comprehensive plan of health insurance protection and benefits in which every resident of Ontario is entitled to participate—regardless of age, state of health or financial means—through the Government or a designated agent. After October 1st, many private insurers will become "designated agents ". Each will provide the standard OHSIP contract on a non-profit basis, at the premium rates set by the Ontario Govern- ment for OHSIP services, If you wish other services from your agent, you can arrange for them through a separate contract. Meanwhile, if you are now enrolled in OMSIP—the ex sting Government plan—or in a private plan, your coverage will continue without interruption provided you continue your enrollment. OHSIP will be the health care you can count on—from the Ontario Department of Health. Delegations were received at this meeting, making enquiries as to increased taxes, It was explained that the village mill rate had only increased by one half of a mill. The remainder of the increase to taxpayers, was not in the power of the village council to change. Arrangements were made for the completion of the" work on George Street, and this will re-commence toward the end of this month. Monday, August 4, 1969, was proclaimed Civic Holiday within the village. Low calorie Tops recipe There was no regular meeting of the Tops Streamliners last week but the weigh-in was good. The following recipe is recommended. This amount makes 8 servings, 460 calories in all. CHICKEN WITH RICE DINNER 3 chicken breasts, or left-over chicken, about 13/4 lb.; lb. mushrooms or 2 cans cut mushrooms; 1 can (5 oz.) bamboo shoots; 3 green onions; 1 small stalk celery; 1 small sweet red pepper; 4 tbsps. vegetable oil; 2 tbsps. soy sauce; 2 tbsps. corn starch; 1 cup chicken broth; 2 cups pre-cooked rice; and boiling water and salt. Slice meat thin, add mushrooms, bamboo shoots, slice if necessary, green onions and celery cut small, red pepper, cut small. Saute' chicken quickly in vegetable oil, 3 minutes or until chicken turns white, then add above ingredients and stir in soy sauce. Cover and cook 2 minutes or until vegetables are crisply tender. Blend cornstarch and chicken-broth until smooth, stir into frying-pan and cook, stirring constantly, until sauce thickens. Boil for 3 minutes. While chicken mixture cooks, prepare rice following directions. When cooked, spoon around edge of large serving platter, spoon chicken mixture on top, and serve with additional soy sauce if desired. —Olga Appoint chairman for arena board Upon the retirement of H. B. Langford, Harry Wraith was elected as chairman of the Lucan Arena Board at their regular monthly meeting last week. Mr. Langford will continue as an Honorary member. Ian Dallas continues as Secretary and M. H. Hodgins, as Treasurer. Other members of the Board are: Bernard Avery, Ivan Hearn, representing Lucan, Jim Ryan, Biddulph Township, Ron White, London Township and Ken Carter, McGillivray. Few attend play program BY J.E. BURT First of all I would like to take a moment to mention our playground programme. At the time of writing our attendance is very small. The reason for this I am not sure. If it is that no one knows of this, then maybe they should buy the Exeter paper and read our rec news as this programme is on every summer during the holidays, Mon. — Fri. from 10 - 12 a.m. and 2 - 4 p.m. For further information, contact me. In recreational swimming we are doing very well, with all the fine weather we have been having. In our second season of lessons, which is in its second week, we have a very good registration, with 210 in attendance. Our third season registration is taking place this Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. In baseball our pee wee team is doing real well, as we now have a 11-0 won-lost record with 3 more games to go in the schedule. Her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Carter and grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. tienneth Carter, Clandeboye, attended the wedding. The reception was held at the Nordon Restaurant in the city. Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Millson attended the birthday party Sunday for Hubert Hodgins at the St. Thomas Anglican Church, Granton. Mr. Hodgins was celebrating his 85th birthday. Mr. & Mrs. Millson also attended the Millson Reunion at Riverview Park where about 30 persons were in attendance. Mr. & Mrs. Maurice Simspon have moved into their new home. A birthday party was held at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Lynn Sunday for Mrs. Emily Tomes. Other families attending were Mr. & Mrs. Lynn Sawyer and family, Petrolia; Mr. & Mrs. Tom Tomes and family, Centralia; and a friend, Mrs. Margaret, Poole, London. Mr. & Mrs. Wilfred Logan ar Churches hold joint service Rev. W. C. Tupling was in charge of the regular Sunday morning service at Lucan United Church, where the members of the congregation of Holy Trinity Anglican Church again joined in worship. Miss Maureen Smith sang "Bless us, 0 Lord," accompanied by Miss Reta Chown at the organ. Masonic service for Roy McFalls William Roy McFalls of Lucan, son of Albert McFalls, died in St. Joseph's Hospital, London, Sunday, July 20, 1969, in his 67th year. He is survived by his wife the former Velma Knowles; son Glenn; and brother Earl of London. The body rested at the Murdy Funeral Home, Lucan, where the Rev. W. C. Tupling held the Funeral service, Wednesday, July 23. Masonic Service was held Tuesday evening in the Funeral Home under the auspices of Irving Lodge, Lucan. Interment in St. James Cemetery, Clandeboye. The pallbearers were Don, Clare, Ken, and Laurence McFalls, all nephews, Robert Murray and Aubrey Mayes. Mr, McFalls was born and raised in Biddulph Township, was a railroad carpenter for 42 years and retired in 1967. He had been a resident of Lucan for more than 30 years. daughter Myrna entertained the Paton Clan Sunday. Those attending were Mrs. J.H. Paton, Mr. & Mrs. Clare Paton, Jimmy and Darlene, Mrs. Aileen Riehl, Bob Riehl, Miss Linda Wheatley, Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Bradley, Sheri-Lee, Steven and Tina. Pony rides were arranged for the children. Mr. & Mrs. Albert Smith, Hyde Park, visited with Mr. & Mrs. Jim Donaldson, Sunday. Ben Kelly and Art Morgan visited Saturday with Mr. & Mrs. Roy Cunningham and Mrs. Omar Cunningham. Mr. & Mrs. Hugh Brophey and daughter of London visited Sunday with his mother, Mrs. Arthur Brophey. Miss Alice Brown had her tonsils removed in Strathroy Hospital last Friday. Mrs. Lillian McLean of Detroit has been visiting relatives in this community. The Sunday School picnic of the United Church was held on the church lawn last Wednesday evening. Grant Larmer of Burketon visited Mr. & Mrs. Ken Larmer over the weekend. Jim Brophey of Hanover, who is stationed at Camp Ipperwash for the summer, spent the weekend with his grandmother, Mrs. Arthur Brophey. Mrs. Margaret Finkbeiner and Miss Audrey Finkbeiner of London visited Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Carman Woodburn. Miss Audrey Finkbeiner, who is on furlough from St. Lucia West Indies, was the guest speaker in the United Church Sunday. Mrs. Herbert Johnson has returned to her home at Sean Leandro, California, after spending some time with her aunt, Mrs. Alma Price. Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Horner, Margaret, Allan and Brenda of Kamloops, B.C, spent a few days with. Mr. & Mrs, Harvey Hodgins and other district relatives and Monday all visited Miss Lina Abbott in the McCormick Home in London. Mrs. Frank Hardy Sr. and Mrs. Mary Hodgson called on Mrs. Lily McFalls last Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Leroy Revington and family are holidaying at their cottage at Port Franks. Mr. & Mrs. Cliff Abbott took the former's aunt, Mrs. Horace Alton of Victoria, to visit her niece and nephew, Mr. & Mrs, Arlo Stuckey of Grand Bend last Thursday. Sunday visitors with Mrs. Mary Hodgson were Mr. and Mrs. Bob Kernolian and Mrs. Mabel Capes from Forest. Mrs. W. W. Garrett of London took her granddaughter and mother, Mrs. Bob Coleman, to Strathmere Lodge to visit Mrs. Ankers, Mr, & Mrs. Thos. Weller have moved to London and Mrs. Weller had the misfortune to. break her foot while settling in. Lynne Knight, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. John Knight of Kintore is taking the swimming course at the Lucan Pool and staying with her aunt, Mrs. Mert Culbert. Her mother came for her and took her home for the weekend. Mrs. Lorraine Fischer, son Kennon, Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Stanlake and Debbie, Mrs. Thomas Thompson and son Tommy, Mr. & Mrs. Ray Fischer, ell of London, Mr. .4 Mrs. William Fischer, Cheryl and Chris of Komoka, were all weekend guests with Mrs. Katherine Fischer. Mr. & Mrs. Clare Stanley and family visited the McCormick Home last Thursday, Mrs. Pearl Mugford of ,Goderich has spent the last week visiting Mr. & Mrs. Ben Mugford and Mr. & Mrs. Jim Mugford. Mrs. Don McTaggart, London, held a family dinner-party last Friday, to celebrate her daughter Linda's Mario works for a small firm, hut he'll be covered by OHSIP just like Bill. Among the guests was Linda's great-grandmother, Mrs. Bob Coleman of Lucan. Susan Crozier was soloist accompanied by Miss Cathy Lockhart at the Conservative Beef Barbecue, Parkhill. Carol Vandeloo will be a guest of Susan Crozier for a week. Many people from Lucan and district attended the Kirkton Garden Party last Wednesday night. Anita Hodgins won a second prize for her singing. B. William Little and family visited with Mrs. Kathlyn Egan last Thursday. The Annual picnic of the Medway Club was held Sunday, July 20, at Mr. and Mrs. William McComb's cottage at Ipperwash, There were 18 of the club's members and four guests present. Pentecostal WA holds meeting The Pentecostal W.A. regular meeting was held last week at the home of Mrs. Gordon McDonald, with Mrs. McDonald in charge. Mrs. Amelia Graham gave a quiz on Bible queens and Mrs. Rupert gave a reading. A present of a jolly jumper for the new baby was given to Mrs. Ed Butler and presented by Mrs. McDonald.
