Sunday Mr. & Mrs. Delbert Gieger entertained members of the Smillie-Elder clan who had come from a distance to attend the reunion at Seaforth the previous day. Mrs. Erling Lund (nee Audrey Elder) of Pittsburgh, P.A., U.S.A., visited with relatives in the Hensall area and attended the Smillie-Elder reunion. Mr. & Mrs. Lorne C. ' Stewart and Jane Knights of Blenheim are holidaying this week with Mr. Stewart McQueen McArthur folk elect officers Members of the McArthur Clan from Agincourt, Kitchener, Ingersoll, Thamesford, London, St. Thomas, Blenheim, Exeter, Zurich and Hensall met at Riverview Park, Exeter, Sunday for their annual reunion. After all enjoyed a delicious meal president Bill Elliott gave the history of the McArthur Clan. A minute of silence was • observed in memory of Mrs. Stewart McQueen and Mrs. Roy Lamont, two sisters who passed away during the year. Secretary:treasurer Shirley Elliott read the minutes of the 1968 reunion, and gave the financial report. • Officers elected for 1970 were president, Bill Knights; se c ret a ry- treasurer, Donna Knights, sports, Joan Elliott. Danny Turvey won the most points in the junior division and received the Freeze King trophy from Ron Wareing, Winner of the senior high point title and the Custom Trailers of Exeter trophy was Barry Mousseau. On his way to the championship, Danny 'Purvey won the junior equitation class with ponies and the second pony race. Barry Mousseau in capturing the senior point crown won the flag and key hole races. Craig Black of Exeter won the pleasure classes in both Friday and Saturday's shows. The senior rescue race was won by Jim and Jack Rundle with Mr. Snippy. Dale Hunt of Simcoe finished first in the barrel race and in the pole bending event. Nelson Bilyea and Bob Whitehead teamed up to win the tire race. Nancy Swartz on "Merry Vandy" won junior equitation with horses' while Patti Cornish of London was victorious in the junior flag race and the junior rescue. In first spot in the first pony race was Jane Allen and Linda Cording won the Little Britches Calf Riding event. The annual Wright Reunion was held Sunday at Seaforth Lions Paric with 50 attending. Officers elected for the coming year are :President Lorne J.T. Mitchell dies at Clinton John Thomas Mitchell, who was 1.02 Feb. 7, died Monday afternoon at Huronview. Mr. Mitchell, formerly of Hensall, came to Huronview when he was 100, He was born on his father's Hay Township farm, Later the family moved to adjoining Tuckersmith Township. Mr. Mitchell spent most of his life on his farm near Hensall. He had a good memory and in an interview on his 100th birthday, he recalled the growth of the area around the turn of the century, In 1891, Mr. Mitchell married the former Elizabeth Rice of Cromarty. They moved to Hensel] in 1928. His wife died in 1956 at the age of 85. Mr. Mitchell is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Jarvis (Olive) Horton and Mrs. Melville (Edna) Traquair, both of Hensall, and Mrs. Carl (Gertrude) Stoneman, Cromarty, • I: and Mr. & Mrs. Harry Snell. Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Wein of Exeter and Mr. & Mrs. H. Willoughby of London, Cpl. Douglas Wein, Mrs. Wein and David of North Sydney, Nova Scotia, were recent visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Harold Parker and Patsy. Mr. & Mrs. Laird Joynt of Toronto visited this week with the former's mother, Mrs. Alice Joynt. Mr. & Mrs. Don MacLaren and daughter Jodi of Scarboro were weekend visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Lorne Chapman and Mrs. Bertha MacGregor. Mr. & Mrs. Walter Hoffmeyer and John Hoffmeyer and family of Stratford were recent visitors with Mrs. Elizabeth Riley. Mrs. Ralph Holland and daughter Gwen of Clinton visited this week with Mr. & Mrs. James Sangster and Bradley. Mrs. Don MacLaren and daughter Jodi of Scarboro are holidaying with the former's parents, Mr. & Mrs. Lorne Chapman and Rod. Bert Coleman of Whitby spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Gladys Coleman and brother Ivan. Mr. & Mrs. Lora Elder of Hamilton visited over the weekend with the former's sister, Mrs. Grace Peck. Mr. & Mis. John Konynendyk, and daughters Lenora and Lorna, Woodstock, Mr. & Mrs. Don Dodds, Lynne, Paul and Joan of Seaforth spent Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Sim Roobol. John Soldan is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Dr. and Mrs. J.C, Goddard and family are on vacation. With fine weather prevailing, members came from far and wide. An afternoon of sports and swimming was directed by Carol and Ken Elder of Toronto. News from many of the absent ones was brought by Stewart Smillie of St. Catharines. A new historical album was introduced by Mrs. Grace Peck, and found to be very interesting.
