FRED BOWDEN CENTRALIA The Hunter family reunion was held at the Centralia Community Centre, Sunday. Mr. & Mrs. Frank Marshall of Blyth and Mrs. Don Yungblut of London were Wednesday visitors with Mrs. George Hicks. Robbie Essery was holidaying last week with his aunt and uncle, Mr. & Mrs. August Jacober in Waterford, Michigan. Mrs. Samson Mc Falls, Exeter, Mrs. Robert Lilley and Susan of London and Mrs. Phil Johnston of Glanworth were Sunday visitors with Mrs. Arthur Mc Falls. Mr. & Mrs. Frank Johns of Toronto attended the service in the United Church, Sunday morning and were guests with Rev. & Mrs. R. V. Wilson. Misses Greta and Amy Lammie of Hensall attended the McLaughlin-Lammie wedding, Saturday and were guests for the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Ray Lammie. Mrs. Roy Harrison underwent surgery in Victoria Hospital, London, last week. A shadow of gloom was cast over the community, Sunday, when it was learned that Murray Elliott, a highly esteemed life-long resident, had passed away suddenly at his home. The Sunday School Picnic will , be held Friday, July 11 at Riverview Park at 12:30 noon sharp. KEN McKELLAR CFIOMARTY The July meeting of the Women's Missionary Society was held at the home of Mrs, Wm. Harper of Mitchell, Mrs. M. Dow presided and opened the meeting with a poem. Mrs. Dow led the devotions. The offering was received and was dedicated by Miss Olive Speare. The Study Book lesson "Swinging Pictures" was presented by Mrs. Grace Scott and Mrs. Calder McKaig. Swinging pictures were shown by each member. There were fourteen ladies present and all responded to the roll call with Bible verses read in unison. BRIDAL SHOWER A miscellaneous shower, sponsored by the C.G.I.T. girls in honor of Agnes Scott, bride-elect of this week, was held in Cromarty church school room, Friday evening. A program consisting of musical numbers, a skit by the girls and readings by Heather McPhail and Mrs. F. Hamilton was presented. Barbara Kerslake read an address and Agnes received many lovely gifts. Lunch was served by the C.G.I.T. girls and their leaders, Mrs. M. Lamond and Mrs. 0. Laing. PERSONALS Dean Cornish of Seaforth is holidaying with Mr. & Mrs. Frank Hamilton. Linda and Joanne Currie, Dorchester, and Sandra Hulley of Winthrop are holidaying with their grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Otto Walker. Miss Marilyn McKaig of Sudbury is visiting with Mr. & Mrs. Calder McKaig and Angus. Mrs. Ted Harburn received the sad news that her brother in Nova Scotia had been drowned, Wednesday. Mr. & Mrs. Harburn left by plane Thursday to be with her parents.
