UCW Unit 4 ▪ entertains 35 Unit 4 of the U.C.W. entertained members of their unit who have been unable to attend meetings to a pot luck dinner in Fellowship Hall Thursday. There were 35 present. • Following dinner, Mrs. James McAllister conducted the devotional and solos were sung by Mrs. Eric Luther and Mrs. George Hess. The rest of the afternoon was spent in quilting, while several of the ladies were taken for a car ride. Courtesy remarks were given by Mrs. Bertha Jinks and Mrs. J. McBeath. Mrs. William Hodge and family and Mr. & Mrs. John Miller visited relatives in Walkerton Sunday. • Mr. & Mrs. Ross Haugh, Linda and Danny and Mr. & Mrs. Lorne Finkbeiner drove to Niagara Fails last Thursday to view reclamation activities at the American Falls. Rev. Bruce Guy of Dashwood conducted the morning service • at Zion United Church Sunday. Rev. & Mrs. Warren and their family are at camp in the Sault Ste. Marie area. Mr. & Mrs, Richard Vaughan of Long Beach, California, are spending a week with Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Lamport. Mrs. Vaughan, • sister of Mr. Lamport, attended the International Nurses' Congress in Montreal before corning to Crediton. Presence at the Congress is a global experience in miniature. Albert Gaiser is holidaying at • his Lake Huron cottage. Mattic Finkbeiner is a patient at St.' Joseph's Hospital, London. Mr. & Mrs. Bill Rendall, New York City, are visiting with Mrs. Margaret Clarke and other I White flowers and tapers and silver plumes of pampas grass decorated the church of St. John the Devine (Anglican), Arva, for the marriage of Lynne Elyse, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Crouch, Arva, to Robert Ernest, son of Mr. and Mrs. Laird Mickle, Hensall. Reverend Arthur Jared officiated. Music was provided by the choir directed by Miss Evelyn Jarvis, organist. The bride, given in marriage by her father, designed and made her own gown of white and silver brocade. A floor-length sheath with lilypoint sleeves featured a full overskirt extending from the back waistline. Her veil of nylon sheer edged in brocade, held by a hand-crocheted pillbox, cascaded to a cathedral train. She carried a white prayerbook, crested with a white orchid. Miss Ann Mickle, sister of the groom, was maid of honour and bridesmaids were Miss Sandra Mansell, London, and Miss Joyce Ogletree, Galt. Attendants were gowned alike in floor-length sleeveless dresses of white Swiss eyelet over pink, featuring relatives in the area. Word has been received that Mrs. Ruby Molitor is ill in Strathroy General Hospital. Mr. & Mrs. Steve Dundas, Mr. & Mrs. Lorne Dundas and two children returned Saturday from a motor trip to visit the birthplace of Steve Dundas in Cumberland, Wisconsin. On the outward journey they drove through Northern Ontario, crossing into the United States at Sault Ste, Marie. Cumberland lies in an area of prosperous dairy farms with fine homes and painted barns, The Dundases proceeded to Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to visit a nephew, then returned home via Chicago and Detroit. By MRS, NORMAN LONG Mr, & Mrs. Ken McKay and family left Friday morning by car, for Calgary where they will attend the Stampede and visit other points in the Western Provinces. Mr, & Mrs. Ray Bell had a weekend vacation in Port Huron, Miss Louise Kirk and Paul are spending summer holidays with their grandparents, Mr, & Mrs. Roy Kirk, Port Stanley. Mr, & Mrs. Carman Woodburn, Greenway, visited Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Einar Mousseau. Empire waistlines trimmed with pink velvet ribbon. They wore short veils and pillboxes matching the bride's and they carried white old-fashioned nosegays. Steve Charlton, Montreal, was best man and guests were ushered by Charles Mickle, brother of the groom, and Ron Crouch, brother of the bride. The wedding reception was held in the Mediterranean Room at the Westown Plaza, with the bride's mother receiving guests in a soft pink lace ensemble with white accessories and a corsage of white gardenias. The groom's mother assisted wearing a soft turquoise dress with applique trim, white and turquoise accessories and a pink and mauve orchid corsage. For a honeymoon trip to Jamaica, the bride changed to a fine white wool dress and coat ensemble, black accessories and a white orchid corsage. On their return trip the couple will reside in London. Both are graduates of the University of Western Ontario, where the groom is presently enrolled in a Ph D program. Wedding guests attended from Montreal, Boston, Galt, Hamilton, Toronto, Alliston, Waterloo, St. Thomas, Ridgetown, Strathroy, London, Hensall and the surrounding area. 4•••••••• Miss Dorothy Farquhar of Toronto spent the weekend with her mother, Mrs. Emma Farquhar. Mr. & Mrs, Jack Simmons, Jackie and Dale visited over the weekend with Mr. & Mrs, Harold Munn at Perth, Miss Faye Troyer has accepted a position with the London Life, and has commenced her new duties. Rev. & Mrs. George Vias and children of Weston, visited recently with Mr. & Mrs. Harold Bonthron and family, Mrs, Alda Simmons was taken by ambulance to South Huron Hospital Exeter, Saturday. Families of the late Mr, & Mrs. Jas. Sangster and Mr. & Mrs. Archie Noakes held their annual reunion on July 6 at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Leonard Noakes, Supper was served at the Legion Hall to the many guests who attended from Ingersoll, London, Wingham and Berkeley, California. Mrs. David Noakes of Berkeley, California, is visiting at the home of her husband's parents and at her home in Ingersoll. David, who is teaching and working for his Ph D in zoology has gone on a field trip to Nicaragua, Central America, where he will spend six weeks in the interests of his degree. Warrant Officer Donald A. Orr, RCAF, and his wife Margret have returned to Canada after spending five years in Europe where they were stationed at Metz and Paris, France, and Brussels, Belgium. W.O. Orr will be stationed at Ottawa. They are visiting with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.A. Orr, Hensall, and also with his brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. James Orr, Crediton. Mr. & Mrs. Laird Mickle were guests Sunday with the former's daughter and son-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Ross MacMillan and family at Southcott Pines, near Grand Bend where they are spending the month of July. Mr. & Mrs. William Kerr, and nandson Robert Lefebvre, North Bay, returned home Monday of this week, after spending a week visiting with Mrs. Maude Hedden, and Mr. & Mrs. Graham Kerr, Seaforth. Mr. & Mrs. Robert Mickle, London, Mr. & Mrs. Charles Crouch, Arva, visited Wednesday evening of last week with Mr. & Mrs. Laird Mickle. Mrs. Alda Simmons is a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter, where she is receiving treatment. Mrs. Dorothy Munroe of Seaforth visited recently with Mrs. Bertha MacGregor. Constable Douglas Wein, R.C.M.P. of North Sydney, Nova Scotia, arrived here this weekend and with Mrs. Wein and David is holidaying with Mr. & Mrs, HaroldParker and Patsy and Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Wein. Miss Cindy Parker visited last week with her grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Harold Parker, Rev. Robert Bissett, interm moderator conducted service in Carmel Presbyterian Church Sunday when Garry Scholl was soloist with Mrs. Malcolm Dougall presiding at the organ. The Induction service of Rev. Wilfred D. Jarvis into the pastorate charges of cannel Presbyterian Church, Hensall, Ca ven Presbyterian Church, Exeter, and Cromarty Presbyterian Church will be held in Carmel Church, Hensall, Wednesday, July 16 at 8 p.m. Miss Kathy Munn, who has been a patient in St, Joseph's Hospital undergoing treatment, was able to return home. Mike Ulark, or Lapeer, Mich,, is visiting with his grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Lewis Clark, RR 2 Kippen, Mr, & Mrs. 'W. F. Amess and daughter Kathy of London, were weekend visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Leonard Noakes. Mr. & Mrs. Donald Bissel (the former Patsy McDonnell, Hensall) and family of Toledo, Mich. were recent guests with Mrs. George Hess. Mrs. Bissel was guest soloist at her cousin's wedding, Saturday at Listowel. Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Hyde and Margaret spent several days last week visiting Mr. & Mrs. Edward Barrett of Westwood, New Jersey, and in Niagara Falls. Woman dies at Paisley Mrs. Inez McEwen received word of the sudden passing of her sister, Mrs. Janet Darroch who died at her home in Paisley, Saturday. She was the former Janet Sparrow, widow of the late Donald Darroch who passed away seven years ago. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Jessie) Shane, St. Marys; Mrs. Dennis (Mary) Pitt, Lindsay; three brothers Fred and George Sparrow, Dobbinton and Oscar, Paisley; one sister, Mrs. Inez McEvien, Hensall and seven grandchildren. Funeral service was held from the Stoddart Funeral. Home, Paisley, Tuesday. Attending the funeral from Hensall were Mrs. McEwen and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Smith.
