Greys suffer another defeat The Exeter Greys suffered their second loss of the season in Huron ladies' softball play when they were wallopped by Brucefield 30-9 on the Exeter diamond, Friday. In their next action, the Greys meet the Goderich Dodgers at Exeter Community Park, Fridai night at 7 o'clock. Joan Campbell, Lynr.e Farquhar and Sheila Willert crossed the plate for the first Exeter runs in the third inning. Donna Bourne and Pam Vanderweil upped the Greys' run total to five in the fifth frame and Vanderweil, Kathy Wells, Brenda Brintnell and Garmes completed the Exeter run making in the seventh. By GORDON MORLEY Brinsley United Church celebrated holy communion on Father's Day Sunday. Those assisting the Rev. H.B. Johnson were Earl Morley, Jack Hodgson, Fred Lewis, Jack Trevithick and Gordon Morley. The presentation of awards for faithful attendance at church were presented by Mrs. Jack Trevithick on behalf of the United Church Women. Victor Dyck having attended 44 services during the year, was the recipient of a first year certificate and attendance pin; Carolyn Lewis, 43 Sundays, fifth year pin; Cathy Lewis, 43 Sundays, seventh year pin; Barbara Lewis, 39 Sundays, certificate and first year pin. Karen Hodgson received her second year pin for an attendance of 35 Sundays. PERSONALS A congregational picnic for Brinsley United Church is being planned for Sunday, June 29 at Lieury Ball Park. Also Monday, the Exeter Legion squeezed past Huron Park by a score of 12-7. This week, the Kinsmen travel to Huron Park for a Thursday night game while Grand Bend and the Legion meet at the Exeter diamond at the same time. The only contest slated for Monday has the Legion and Kinsmen tangling at the local park. Every member of the starting Grand Bend line-up came up with at least one hit, Bill Bishop, Ron Crown and Bill Bowden led the hitting attack with three safeties apiece. Paul Greenwood, Bud Desjardine and Dick Coulter each added two hits to the total with one of the latter's being a home run. Don Mantey was the top Huron Park slugger with four hits in five trips to the plate with Don McArthur adding a pair of safeties, COME FROM BEHIND Snell's Shell were forced to come from behind to gain the 6-4 decision over Grand Bend, Monday. Trailing 4-1, the Shell club scored three times in the bottom of the fifth to tie the count and Bob Blackburn's single in the sixth sent the winning and insurance runs across the plate. Scott Burton singled twice and Bill Fairbairn added a lone one-base blow to account for the winning hit total. Harvey Vincent banged out two hits to lead the Grand Bend batters. Jack Fuller picked up the pitching win for Snell's and struck out the side in the last inning. SCORE EVERY INNING The Legion scored at least one run in every inning in downing Huron Park 12-7, Monday. Gord Slaght and Terry Wade shared the pitching duties for the Legion while Don Appleby was the Huron Park tosser.
