WI picnic held indoors At an indoor picnic in the Legion Hall last Wednesday, Hensall W.I. voted to contribute $25 towards the $50,000 needed for Expansion and Development of MacDonald Institute, Guelph University, to celebrate its 75th anniversary. The Shifty Chefs 4-H girls' club contributed a novel and educational skit "Take a pound of hamburg". Leaders Mrs. Wm. Fuss and Mrs. Tom Travers were presented with gifts by Mrs. R. D. Elgie. It was decided to sponsor an open meeting of the Huron County Historical Society in September. - Mrs. R. M. Peck has been elected recording secretary for the Huronview Auxiliary for 1969-70. Hensall U.C.W. general meeting was held Monday evening June 16 with president Mrs. Vern Alderdice opening with a reading in honour of father. Mrs. James McAllister presided for the program which was taken by Unit 4. John Blackwell favoured with instrumentals. He was thanked by Mrs. McAllister. The devotional was taken by Mrs. E. Rowe. Her topic was "Service." Jim Traq uair contributed piano solos. A special feature was a sound film on China, Jack Drysdale in charge of the projector, A motion was passed that the organization send two children to camp for the Children's Aid of Huron. It was also decided to do sewing and knitting for and also some to send to B.C. Forty were in attendance. Mrs. T. Sherritt accompanied for the hymns. Hostesses were Mrs. Chipchase and Mrs. Gordon Love. Mrs. John Joynt who had been receiving treatment in South Huron Hospital, Exeter, returned to her home. The Misses Barbara and Marjorie Schwalm spent the weekend at the Pinery. Mr. & Mrs. R. G. Love, Caro, Mich., and Mrs. Albert Keys, Exeter, were guests last Thursday with Mrs. J. E. McEwen. Mrs. R. A. Mrs. Gordon Schwalm, who is the children's secretary of London-Hamilton Synodical and the Huron Presbyterial attended the Presbyterial Workshop held at the home of Mrs. Carl Remus, president of the Bruce Presbyterial, at her home in Paisley Monday of this week. Mr. & Mrs. Gary Corlett and family, Toronto, were weekend guests with Mr. & Mrs. N. E. Cook. Mrs. R. A. Orr and Mrs. Annie Reid attended C.K.S.L. Radio Coffee Club picnic held at the Silver Dome on the Western Fair grounds yesterday and participated in several major sports. Visitors last week with Mrs. George Hess were her aunt and uncle Mr. & Mrs. Griff Hughes of Victoria, B.C. and their daughter Mrs. Marjorie Campbell, of Sault Ste. Marie. Mr. & Mrs. Don Rigby of Blenheim visited over the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Harry Snell. Stewart McQueen returned home with them for a visit. Weekend visitors with Mrs. George Hess were her granddaughter, Miss Kathy McCloy of Don Mills and friend Miss Elizabeth Boiston of Don Mills. Mrs. R. M. Peck, secretary, Mrs. Wilbert billing, Mrs. Grace Harpole and Mrs. Len Purdy, attended the monthly meeting of Huronview Auxiliary, held Monday afternoon of this week. W. 0. Goodwin is a patient in South Huron District Hospital. Rev. W. A. Young of Elora, a former Hensall minister, called on Mr. and Mrs, Laird Mickle last Friday afternoon. Zurich man to Montreal Gerald Regier, 48, RR 3 Zurich, was the lucky winner of $250 in a draw in Montreal's Voluntary Tax Plan plus a free return Air trip by Air Canada to Montreal, a tour of Montreal and "Man and his World". Mr. Regier and his wife, who accompanied him, were billeted free at the Queen Elizabeth Witel, MCA Weal. The question he answered was "Name the great river linking Montreal into the Atlantic Ocean." He was one of 153 winners. CAS speaker at Chiselhurst Chiselhurst United Church Women had Miss C. McGowan of Goderich Children's Aid Society as their guest speaker for the June meeting. Mrs. It. Boyce presented the worship service, The missionary prayer was offered by Mrs. Wm, Brintnell. Miss Mary Nichol, missionary, who has been home on furlough from India, visited at Chiselhurst, and was guest speaker for a special service. A gift of money was presented to her to help her with her work on the mission field, While home Miss Nichol was on an extension speaking tour and also took a special course at the University in New York. Mrs. Richard Taylor gave an interesting talk on Christian Citizenship, Mrs. Earl Kinsman and Mrs. Harold Parker gave a good report on visits made to sick and shut - ins,. A new committee, Mrs. R. Taylor, Mrs. T. Brintnell and Mrs. P. Harris was appointed for the summer months. A donation of $25 was made to the Children's Aid to send a child to summer camp. Hostesses for the meeting were Mrs. H. Parker, Mrs. A, Ross and Mrs. E. Kinsman. The Women's Missionary Society of Carmel Presbyterian Church celebrated their 79th anniversary Thursday afternoon with guests present from Kippen United Church, Zurich Lutheran Church, and the Arnold Circle and Home Helpers of the Hensall Church. President Mrs. R. A. Orr extended a welcome to all. Devotional and study was given by Mrs. George Walz and Mrs. Earl Campbell, Vocal duets were sung by Mrs. Malcolm Dougall and Mrs. Pearl Love. Guest speaker Mrs. Eric Luther of Hensall based her thoughts from the 90th Psalm and asked "How could there be creation without a Creator? God is a Creator no matter where we go, east, west, north or south. There is beauty everywhere, creation by God. Man looks on the outward appearance of the heart, God looks on the inside of our hearts, The Bible reveals the simplest of men. We need to bring peace, beauty, patience, faith into our homes and community." Mrs. Luther also sang "Lt the beauty of Jesus be seen in me." Mrs. George Walker had the 'Jun. 19, 1969 Page • • • • • • Milton Willert dies at 52 yrs. Funeral service for the late Milton Willert of Goderich was held Saturday from Stiles Funeral Home, Goderich. Burial was in Maitland Cemetery, Goderich. Mr. Willert passed away in Alexandra General and Marine Hospital, Goderich, Wednesday. He was 52. He is survived by his wife, the former Gladys Saundercock, formerly of Hensall; one daughter Patricia at home; his mother, Mrs. Amelia Willert, Dashwood; one brother Alvin, Exeter; and two sisters, Mrs. Cliff (Doris) Penhale, Dashwood • and Mrs. R. J.
