R.M. Bissett, Avonton, presiding, The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan McLeod, Exeter, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Turner, London. Organist was Mrs. Murray Keys. On the arm of her father, the bride wore an ivory peau de sole gown styled with a round neckline trimmed with French imported lace, three-quarter length bell sleeves, empire waistline, an A-line floor-length skirt and a self-train from mid-back. She wore her mother's wedding veil and mantilla-style headdress of Vienese lace, extending out over the train and carried two dozen white roses and dark green ivy. Mrs. Peter (Diana) McLeod, sister-in-law of the bride, was matron of honor. Miss Heather McLeod, sister of the bride, Exeter, was bridesmaid with the bride's sisters, Sheila and Danette McLeod, Exeter, as flowergirls. The matron of honor was gowned in floor-length pink chiffon over taffeta fashioned with a high waist and bouffant sleeves. The bridesmaid's gown was of identical styling in yellow chiffon over taffeta. The flowergirls wore pink and yellow dotted Swiss dresses featuring bouffant sleeves. All attendants wore pink and yellow daisies in their hair and carried baskets of pink and yellow daisies. Best man was Peter McLeod, brother of the bride, Exeter. Ushers were Cameron McLeod, brother of the bride, Exeter, and Jim Eifert, Windsor. At a reception in the Exeter Legion Hall, the bride's mother chose a violet crepe dress, matching hat and shoes, white accessories and a white orchid corsage. Neckline, waistline, cuffs and hemline were outlined in fine chantilly lace. An organza train was draped from the back neckline in cathedral fashion. A four-tiered veil in silk illusion was held in place by a cluster of stephanotis and she carried a nosegay of pink sweetheart roses and white stephanotis tied with white velvet ribbons. DONALD GEORGE NORRIS Interesting, varied career for Grand Bend woman NEW EXECUTIVE — The new executive of South Huron WI was elected at Thursday's district annual held at Elimville. Seated is the new president, Mrs. Delbert Geiger. Standing are Miss Ruth Skinner, left, first vice-president and Mrs. Newell Geiger, secretary-treasurer. A Grand Bend woman who enjoys an interesting and varied career is Mrs. Ruth (Pat) Ravelle, wife of Wilfred (Rudy) Ravelle. As a waitress training expert employed by the Manpower Division of Sheridan College of Applied Arts and Technology, Mrs. Ravelle criss-crosses the province taking her courses to all types of eating establishments. Just recently, for instance, 22 of Mrs. Ravelle's coffee shop and dining room students, all employees of Cara Operations Limited at Toronto International Airport, graduated from the waitress training course she taught. Of these, 10 will receive certificates in basic restaurant service and 12 in basic dining room service. Mrs. Ravelle has been in the waiter and waitress training business for the past seven years. WI District Annual convenes in Elimville Inn in Brampton, Holiday Inn in Oakville, Estaminet in Burlington and Toronto International Airport. Since this is one of the programs for training in business and industry, the cost of instruction for it is borne by the province. The business concerned provides classroom facilities and bears the cost of employees' wages if the course is conducted on company time. The topics covered in a typical basic course are a general introduction to restaurants and dining rooms which includes public relations; self-develop- ment (personality, personal appearance, English grammar, Her experience includes five years of supervising the dining room staff of Monetta Menard's Dining Lounge in Grand Bend. From 1967 to 1969, she conducted courses in many Ontario restaurants and dining rooms for the Hotel-Motel Association. Some of the better known establishments include the new Simpsons Tower, the Arcadian Court in Toronto, the Continental Inn in Barrie, the Senator Motel in Timmins and several Holiday Inns. Since the response for courses from major restaurants and dining rooms in Halton and Peel counties has been so encouraging, Mrs. Ravelle will be conducting one and two-week courses, depending on the number of trainees, continuously until next fall. Her next courses will be conducted at the Thunderbird ' The District Annual for South Huron held at Elimville United Church May 22, At the morning session the address of welcome was given by Elimville and replied to by Dashwood. Mrs. Wilfred Mack, president, commented on the theme "The Challenge of Change — How are we meeting it." The old patterns cannot be restored, she said, Getting ahead and getting to the top are more important in todays world. It is so easy to blame our troubles on someone else she concluded. Mrs. Wilbur Lawrence, Provincial Board member ratified district directors. Mrs. Eric Clayburn sang a solo accompanied by Mrs. Philip Johns. Reports were given by all conveners. In the afternoon Miss Susan Heard, Home Economist for Huron gave a report on 4-H activities. She stated that a Farm Management day would be held at Centralia July 9. She was presented with a gift on her forthcoming marriage. Mrs. Wilbur Lawrence installed the new officers. Mrs. Delber Geiger, Zurich, will be the new president with Mrs. Newell Geiger, Zurich, as secretary-treasurer. Hurondale won first prize on the four seasons slide competition. Each branch showed and gave a short talk on different crafts. Mrs. Wilfred Mack and Mrs. Edward Lamport were presented gifts after completing two years in office.
