a bus trip to New York city the
latter part of the week.
The girls' baseball teams held
a very successful bake sale in
Campbell's basement in Mitchell
Saturday.
Mrs. Penelope Fell returned
home from Seaforth Hospital

The May meeting of the
Hibbert United Church Women
was held Wednesday evening in
the Family Life Centre. The
meeting opened with quiet
music by Mrs. Robert
McCaughey at the piano.
Mrs. An drew Christie
presided for devotions assisted
by Mrs. Harvey Dow. Theme of
the meeting was "Family Life."
Mrs. Christie gave a reading
on Mother followed by prayer
and there was a reading by Mrs.
Harvey Dow.
Misses Ruth McPhail and
Elizabeth Templeman favoured
everyone with a duet followed
by a piano instrumental played
by Miss Patti Norris.
Mrs. Arthur Kemp had the
study book on China. She
outlined China by map covering
some of it's history, then divided
up all present into groups of
four to gather material and
answer questions on China.
Mrs. Murray Christie had the
Bible Study on Penticost taken
from Acts.
Miss Vera Hambley presided
for the business. Roll call was
answered by a woman's name
from the Bible with 26 members
and several visitors present.
A motion was made to send
money from the society to
enable some underpriveleged
children to attend camp this
summer. Plans are underway for
the strawberry and ham supper
in June.
Lunch was served by Mrs.
Lorne McKinnon, Mrs. Leslie
Miller and Mrs. Ross Smale.

CENTRALIA
The Centralia United Church
Women held a highly successful
Tulip Tea in the church
Wednesday afternoon of last
week.
A welcome was extended to
the guests by the president, Mrs.
Harvey Smith. Mrs. Lorne Hicks
presided over the devotional part
of the program and was assisted
by Mrs. Lloyd Morgan who
offered prayer.
A violin solo was played by
Rev. R, Wilson with Mrs.
Kenneth Hodgins playing the
organ accompaniment.
Visitors contributing to the
program were Miss Evelyn Curts,
Greenway, a piano solo; Mrs.
Desjardine and Mrs. Murray
Venner, Grand Bend, presented
a skit; Mrs, Bishop, Zion Church
Crediton, favoured with a vocal
solo.
The guest speaker,
well-known in this district, was
the Rev. D.M. Guest of
Wyoming. Mr. Guest in his usual
inimitable manner gave a most
inspiring and humorous talk
taking as his topic "The
Grandeur of Spreading Honey in
Life's Pathway."
The speaker was introduced
and thanked by Mrs. Harvey
Smith.
Mrs. V. Drought and Mrs. R.
Wilson sang a duet with Mrs. K.
Hodgins at the organ.
Mrs. Alvin Essery was the
organist for the service.
Following the program lunch
was served, smorgasbord style,
downstairs.
