John King officiating. White candelabra and baskets of white gladioli, white mums and variegated mauve carnations formed the background for the ceremony. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor-length A-line gown of white lagoda. The bodice was highlighted by a bateau neckline, three-quarter length sleeves and an empire waistline. The sleeves and waist were touched with delicate Swiss guipure lace crested with tiny seed pearls. Main centre of attention was a detachable chapel train cascading from the back neckline and silhouetted with appliques of guipure lace. Her veil was a shoulder-length illusion creation caught up by a floral cluster. She carried trailing white carnations centred with variegated mauve carnations and blended with ivy. Given in marriage by her father, the bride looked stunning in her floor-length wedding gown of white chantilly lace. The elegantly built-in sweep train fell from an empire waist, while the sleeves were wrist-length and lily-pointed. A four-tiered veil of silk illusion draped from a flowered headpiece. She carried a nosegay of light pink roses and mums with white and mauve loops. Maid of honour was Linda Dietrich, sister of the bride. She wore a floor-length gown of soft lilac lagoda. By GORDON MORLEY The May meeting of the UCW was held Wednesday evening in the church basement. Mrs. Marjorie Steeper was in charge of the Group HI program. Mrs. Harvey Steeper gave a reading. Mrs. Wasnidge read the Scripture and Mrs. M. Steeper gave a poem and a reading. Prayer was led by Kathleen Morley. Mrs. Edwin Morley and Mrs. Reta Allison read poems. Mrs. M. Steeper gave a paper on the beginning of the organization and Mrs. Earl Morley told the History of W.A. written in 1955. Mrs, W. Fenton took over for the business, The group received an invitation to Spring Thankoffering meeting of Carlisle U.C.W. to be held the evening of May 21 and one to Centralia Tulip Tea, the same afternoon. It was decided to pack a bale in June for Resale Mission. Mrs. Goldwin Glenn was presented with a gift from the society. By MRS. I RVIN RADER The May meeting of Dashwood W.I. was the annual grandmother's meeting with 20 as guests and also two visitors. The Agriculture and Canadian Industries group was in charge with Mrs. Milford Merner, convener. All sat down to a potluck supper. Following supper, President Mrs. Howard Maier conducted a brief business meeting. Roll call was "How I postpone old age." Plans were completed for attending the District Annual at Elimville. It was decided to sponsor an adopted girl in India. A contest is to be run for new members. Mrs. Carl Oestreicher read a poem. Patricia Bender and Susan Grigg favoured with accordion selections. Mrs. Fletcher of Exeter was guest speaker. She discussed grandmothers and hand painting on china. A number of pieces were on display. She urged everyone to develop a hobby. A number of prizes were awarded: oldest grandmother, Mrs. Susan Merner who will soon be 93; grandmother with youngest grandchild, Mrs. Frieda Keller; lucky chair, Mrs. Fred Messner. BAPTISM Robert Keith, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Rader was baptized Sunday, May 11 in Zion Lutheran Church by Rev. E. E. Steinman. Sponsors were Mrs. Alvin Rader and Miss Linda Rader. MOTHER & DAUGHTER BANQUET About 60 attended the Mother and Daughter banquet Friday evening at Zion Lutheran Church. Group 3 with Mrs. Marie Restemayer, convener, was in charge of a potluck supper and program. "The cyclorama of a Woman's Life" was presented which traced the steps in a woman's life from birth to old age and involved a large part of the audience. Bunco was played with winners Mothers' high, Mrs. Ray Rader; low, Mrs. Reinhold Miller; daughters' high, Darlene Rader; low, Sharon Rader. President Mrs, Lorne Genttner dealt with a brief business meeting. The ladies will hold their June meeting at the Bluewater Rest Home with an evening of games. Attend wedding of two nieces SHIPKA Mr. & Mrs. Ken Baker attended the wedding of two nieces on the weekend. Friday they were guests at a wedding reception for Miss Eunice Baker of St. Thomas and William Seabrook of Sarnia, held in St. Thomas. Saturday they attended the wedding in Zurich of Miss Corinne Locke of Belleville and Murray Cutler of Waterloo. Mr. & Mrs. Ken Baker Jr. and Bonnie of Stratford spent the weekend with his parents and also attended the Locke-Cutler wedding. UNITED Rev. W. C. Tupling was in charge of the Sunday morning service at Lucan United Church. There was a good choir of Mothers and Daughters for this Mother's Day Service. There were two babies presented for the Sacrament of Baptism: Stacey Lin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Somerville, RR 1, Clandeboye, and Michael John, son of Mr. and Mrs. Beverly Hirtzel, Lucan, Mr. Tupling's sermon was entitled, "A Home of Faith." Sunday there will be a guest speaker from the Alcohol and Drug Concerns Incorporated. ACW The regular meeting of the Anglican Church Women was held at the home of Mrs. Gladys Atkinson May 7. There were 10 members present and one visitor. Mrs. Jack Murdy, president, opened the meeting with Prayer and Bible reading. Mrs. Murdy read a letter from the West Middlesex Deanery asking the officers for the coming year. The Spring Deanery meeting will be held at Christ Church, Newbury, May 30 at 9 a.m. She also read a letter inviting any ladies of the Church to come to the workshop at Huron College May 23-25. A letter was also read from Capt. Brown, their Prayer Partner telling of his work in Saskatchewan. There was a discussion about work among the Indians, and Mr. Carson told of his experiences with this work. Mrs. W. Haskett invited the ladies to her home for the next meeting, with Mrs. Harvey Hodgins to arrange the program. CWL The Catholic Women's League of St. Patrick's Church, Biddulph, held their regular monthly meeting May 6. The following officers were elected for the coming year: president, Mrs. William Duenk; vice-president, Mrs. Gary Menders; secretary, Mrs. Harry Van Boxmeer; and treasurer, Mrs. John DeWan. Arrangements are being made for the members to cater for the banquet in honour of the pupils of Grade 8 graduating class of St. Patrick's School and their parents. ANGLICAN CHURCH The Couple's Club in conjunction with the AYM held a Rummage Sale Saturday.
