Dr. Ross Crosby of St. Marys United Church was guest speaker. In the morning he spoke on The Church Alive; his evening subject was The Vital C's. Special music was provided, by the choir under the leadership of Rev. Howard Zurbrigg, The morning organist was Miss Carol Hendrick; Mrs. Paul Schenk played for the evening service. In the evening, guest singers from Zurich, Dolores, Carol and Mary Ellen Gingerich, Cheryl Clausius and Norma and Nancy Shantz sang double trio numbers, accompanied by Yvonne Gingerich. During the morning service recently installed Schulmerich chimes were dedicated to the memory of Henry and Emma Beaver, Presentation of the chimes op behalf of the Beaver family was made by Miss Gertrude Beaver, Detroit. Other members of the family who came from a distance for the ceremony of dedication were Mr. & Mrs. Vernon Beaver, Pittsburgh; Howard Beaver, Hamilton, Mr. & Mrs. Eugene Beaver and family, Goderich; Herb Beaver, Huronview and Mr. & Mrs. Arnold (Edna Beaver) Robertson, London. During the anniversary celebration announcement was made of a memorial gift of money given to the Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund by Mr. & Mrs, Gordon Morlock in honour of Mr. Morlock's parents, John and Caroline Morlock. FATHER & SON BANQUET Monday evening, April 28 the Women's Institute catered for the Father and Son Banquet sponsored by the Crediton Men's Club. Following the meal, the party toured the pumping station at Blake. ANNIVERSARY PARTY Wednesday afternoon and evening the many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Schenk called at the community hall to offer congratulations on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Andrew Bierling received the guests at the door and was assisted by Tammy and Howard Schenk. Mrs. Margaret Clarke, Mrs. Roy Schenk, Mrs. Paul Schenk, Miss Maleeda Schenk, Mrs. Oscar Pfaff, Mrs. Hugo Schenk, Mrs. Gerald Schenk and Mrs. Allen Finkbeiner presided at the tea table. Miss Susan Schenk and Mrs. Don Averill served the guests. Mr. and Mrs. Schenk received many beautiful cards and gifts. UCW The U.C.W. of Zion United Church held their monthly meeting the evening of May 1. The Sunday School room was bright with flowers from the golden wedding celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Schenk. The meeting opened with quiet music played on the piano by Mrs. Ed. Finkbeiner. Mrs. Ed. Hendrick chaired the program. Poems were read by Mrs. Hendrick and Mrs. Clayton Sims, The message on spiritual life was given by Mrs. O. E. Wenzel. Mrs. John Bishop sang a solo accompanied by Mrs. Emmery Fahrner and Mrs. Finkbeiner played a piano solo. Walter Fydenchick introduced R. Harland of Clinton who showed slides taken while he was on tour of duty in Malaya, Mrs. Howard Zurbrigg, president, took charge of the business, Invitations were read to attend the meeting of Crediton United UCW on May 14 at 8;15 p.m. and the Tulip Tea and Bake Sale of the UCW at Centralia United Church May 21 at 2 p.m. PERSONALS Friday evening in the Community Hall the Hockey Club enjoyed a turkey supper to celebrate the conclusion of an enthusiastic season. The entire community is grieved over the loss suffered by the congregation of Crediton United Church in Sunday morning's disastrous fire, Kerry Lynne Mahoney spent the weekend with her grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Sam while her parents were in Chicago to attend a wedding. Dr. Fred & Mrs. Morlock and family, Waterloo, were Sunday guests of Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Morlock, Lloyd Hey has been transferred from South Huron to St. Joseph's , London.
