Mrs. Harry Caldwell presided and opened with Invocation. The devotional "Variety is a Service" was taken by Mrs. Leona Park. • Woman buried from Hensall Rev. Harold F. Currie conducted the funeral service for the late Mrs. Richard Kinsman May 1 from Bonthron Funeral Home. Burial was in McTaggarts • Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jack • Kinsman, Doug Brintnell, Don - McLellan, Gerald Brintnell, Jack Brintnell and Keith Brintnell. • PUC manager to Wingham Harry Page, 42, Hensall, has been hired as superintendent manager of the Wingham Public Utilities Commission succeeding • Emerson Shera who has retired. Mr. Page, an Ontario Hydro employee for 19 years and with the Hensall P.U.C. since 1966 takes up his duties June 2. He was selected over 17 other applicants. • By MRS. G. Kippen East WI executive meeting was held at the home of President Mrs. Ken McKay when plans were formulated for the year 1969-70. Mrs. George Hess and Miss Cassie Dougall were dinner guests Sunday with Mrs. Pearl MacLaren, Goderich. J. F. W. Paterson, Toronto, is visiting his niece, Miss Cassie Dougall and Mr. and Mrs. James Bengough and family. Mr. Paterson will be 98 years young in December of this year. Hensall Kinettes held a very successful annual spring rummage sale Saturday evening at the local arena. Articles of used clothing not sold have been donated to the U.C.W. for their bale for Overseas relief. Sunday is Family Sunday in Hensall United Church at 11 a.m. Sacrament of Infant Baptism will be observed. Memorial flowers in the sanctuary of the United Church Sunday morning were in memory of Mrs. Richard Kinsman and Lloyd G. McLean, placed by their families Miss Carol Kerr of North Bay visited her aunt, Mrs. Maude Hedden over the weekend. Miss Sylvia Henderson, who has been on the staff of the Bank of Montreal, Toronto, returned to her home over the weekend prior to leaving for England May 19 where she will spend six months. Paul Sims, Sudbury, visited his parents Mr. & Mrs. E. R. Sims, Exeter, over the weekend. Mr. & Mrs. Keith Lindsay and family of Bridgeport were weekend guests with Mrs. John Henderson. Mr. & Mrs. Alonza Hedden of Lucan were Sunday guests with Mr. and Mrs. Herb Jones. ,Mr. & Mrs. William Simpson of Birmingham, Mich. visited in Hensall over the weekend. Mr. & Mrs. D. M. Fowler, of Goderich, were guests Sunday with Mrs. J. E. McEwen. They also visited Mr. McEwen, in South Huron Hospital. Mr. & Mrs. Jim McAllister have just returned from a cruise from Vancouver, down the west coast, through the Panama Canal to Jamaica and Nassau. Cannel Presbyterian Church Womens Missionary Society group held their meeting Monday with 13 members answering the roll call with a verse on "Mother". President Mrs. R. A. Orr gave • the opening prayer and Mrs. Harry Snell and Mrs. Glenn Bell gave the study and devotional. Mrs, Gordon Schwalm gave a report of the London-Hamilton Synodical held in Goderich in April. Mrs. Schwalm is the children's secretary of that Synodical. Next meeting will be held May 26, The W.M.S. will observe their 79th anniversary meeting June 3 with the Huron Presbyterial coming to this church to help • celebrate. Guest speaker will be Miss Barbara Woodruff, regional secretary. Devotional will be in the • charge of Mrs. George Walz and Mrs. Earl Campbell. On the lunch committee are Mrs. Percy Campbell, Mrs. Ed Munn and Mrs. Clarence Volland. The Ladies Aid followed with president Mrs. Harvey Hyde in the chair. Legion ladies collect $235.68 for Red Cross The study "China's Cultural Revolutions" was given by Miss M. Ellis proved very informative. Mrs. Caldwell gave a very impressive reading. The spring bale will be packed about the middle of May, clothing to be left in the foyer before that time. Mrs. Eric Luther sang a solo accompanied by Mrs. T. J. Sherritt. The social committee served a cup of tea. Funeral service for L. McLean Funeral service was held for the late Lloyd McLean Friday from Bonthron Funeral Home with Rev. H. F. Currie in charge. Interment was in McTaggarts cemetery. Pallbearers were Bill McLean, Exeter; Ken McLean, Kippen; Andy McLean, Cromarty; Jack McLean, Detroit; Donald Smith, Buffalo; and Bill McLean, St. Catharines. Flowerbearers were Ray and Larry McLean, Grant MacLean and Keith McLean. Thames Road ladies meet By MRS. WILLIAM ROHDE THAMES ROAD The May meeting of the United Church Women was held Wednesday evening with Mrs. Jas Anderson and Mrs. Robert Cann as hostesses. Mrs. Donald Kernick, program convener was in charge of the meeting for which the theme was "Mother's Day and The Home." Mrs. Kernick read the scripture. Mrs. Mac Hodgert gave the meditation. The Topic "Family Life in China" was given by Mrs. Kernick, Mrs. William Johns, Mrs. Ross Cottle and Mrs. Alvin Cottle. A reading was given by Mrs. Kernick. Mrs. Miner conducted Bible Study. Mrs. William Rohde conducted the business. Invitations were read from Centralia and Elimville to their teas May 21 and May 28. Articles were brought in for a bale. Group three served lunch. PERSONALS Mrs. Gilbert Johns of Elimville and Mrs. William Rohde attended a program meeting at the home of Mrs. Clarke Kennedy of Grand Bend on Wednesday of last week. Mr. & Mrs. Jack Stewart and family, Mr. & Mrs. Lorne Passmore and family attended Woodham Sunday School Anniversary and were guests later with Mr. & Mrs. LaVerne Rodd. Mr. & Mrs. Floyd Stewart and family visited with Mr. & Mrs. Alvin Schieck of Drayton, Sunday. Mr. & Mrs. Donald Kernick, Margaret, Ted and Mary visited Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Reg Castle Jr. of Dorchester. A combined Mother's Day service will be held Sunday. The rite of baptism will be observed at this service. The Annual Sunday School hieeting was held Monday evening with 13 adults present. Mr. & Mrs. Bev Morgan, Scot and Susan Visited Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Al Morgan of Arva. She announced that the Penny Sale draw will be held Friday, June 6. Members will attend the zone rally at Lucknow May 21.
