Auxiliary holding their regular meeting Tuesday evening And the general branch meeting, Wednesday. The games are open to non-Legion members as well and Ladies attend church rally Cousins of girl act at funeral Many people of Lucan will be sorry to hear of the death of Mary Ann Dupuis, at Victoria Hospital, London, Thursday, April 24,1969. She was in her sixth year, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Dupuis, who lived in Lucan for some years before moving to Walkerton. She is also survived by a sister, Karen, and brothers, Michael, Kevin, Jeffrey and Christopher; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Vince Moran, RR 3 Oil Springs and Mrs. Victor Dupuis, Petrolia; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She rested at the D. M. Bradley Funeral Home, Petrolia, until the service Saturday, April 26, at St. Philip's Church, Petrolia. Interment in the family plot in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wyoming. Altar boys, pallbearers and flower bearers were all cousins of the little girl. Eight members of Lucan United Church Women attended the Eighth Annual North-West • Regional Rally of Middlesex Presbyterial U.C.W. at Ailsa Craig United Church last Wednesday. Mrs. M. H. Hodgins led the singsong. Mr. and Mrs. Art Webb of Grand Bend told of their recent visit to Hong Kong and Kowloon and showed many slides of the district to illustrate their talk. The program was most enlightening and enjoyed by all. Crown received by Tops Queen Liman Streamliners Tops held their annual meeting last Wednesday, at the home of Mrs. Gary McKenzie, Members of Exeter Tops were invited, and 21 were able to attend. After a lunch of diet salads (which looked most enticing) Mrs. Art Bates was crowned Queen by Mrs. Helen Wells of Exeter. The crown was won by the member losing the most weight since January 1, 1969. Mrs. Harry Bond was runner-up. No little pigs went home from this meeting as no one showed a gain in weight. Mrs. Helen Wells installed the following officers for the year: leader, Mrs. Gary McKenzie; past leader, Mrs. Donald McRobert; co-leader, Mrs. Charles McRobert; secretary, Mrs. Alfred Williams; treasurer, Mrs. Ambrose Koricina. Mrs. Leland Jory accompanied for a singsong which was much enjoyed. Three of the Exeter visitors were enthusiastic about the friendliness they found in Lucan. When coming to the meeting, they lost their way, and having received directions, were escorted to their destination by the Police. Small animals to be immunized A small animal clinic will be set up at the Community Centre, Lucan, and available to owners of small animals, for immunization against rabies, Wednesday, May 7 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. It is hoped that all pet owners will avail themselves of this opportunity to have their animals immunized. TOPS QUEEN IS CROWNED -- A member of the Lucan Streamliners Tops Club, Mrs. Art Bates was crowned Queen at a joint meeting of Lucan and Exeter clubs, Wednesday, Mrs. Bates lost the most weight of any Lucan member since January 1 and is shown above being crowned by Mrs. Helen Wells of the Exeter club. Rev. R. A. Carson visited Lucan members of the Anglican Church, now residents of the McCormick Home in London, last week. Mr. & Mrs. Don Kernighan and boys of Lobo visited with Mr. & Mrs. James Mugford, Sunday. There are many cases of hepatitis in Lucan, especially among school children. Mr. & Mrs. Cliff Abbott spent a few days last week with Mr. & Mrs. Allen Tindall of Wiarton. D. A. Ashworth who has returned to his home and is living alone, has managed to walk as far as the bank, twice, with the help of a walker. Mrs. Charles Sumner visited Miss Lina Abbott at the By MRS. Quite a number from this community attended the variety concert at Usborne Central School Thursday and Friday evenings. Mrs, Beth Mclntrye left Toronto Sunday for her home in San Diego, California, after having spent the past two weeks with her brother, Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Ballantyne and other relatives. Robert Snow having finished his first year at Fanshawe College has a job with the Frank Ruth Electrical Distributors of London for the summer. The flowers in the church last Sunday were placed there by the family of the late Mildred Ballantyne. Mrs. Jim Simpson was taken ill early Friday morning and was taken into St. Joseph's Hospital. She is feeling a little better and progressing satisfactorily. Mr. & Mrs. James W. Smith celebrated 20 years in Lucan, April 28. Mr. & Mrs. Ian Dallas were their guests on that day. They are children of Sgt. Adams who lived in Crediton when he was stationed at Centralia. Gwen Finkbeiner and Sheila Fahner gave humorous readings, Doris Swartz and Mrs. Howard Zurbrigg sang and Miss Clara Gaiser read the address. TRIO OF DRAWS Tuesday evening, April 22, the final bingo of the season was held under the sponsorship of the hall and park boards. There were draws following the completion of the game. The first draw was for $100 or a quarter of beef, the second for $50 or 50 pounds of steak, and the third for $35 or a side of pork. The winner of the first draw was William Baker; of the second, Dennis MacDonald; and of the third, Darlene Collett. GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY Sunday afternoon relatives of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Schenk, in honour of the celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary, gathered in the Community Hall for a family dinner. About 50 members were present, Those from a distance were Mr. & Mrs. George McMaster, Brantford; Mr. & Mrs. Jim Pfaff, Stratford; Mrs. Jean McEwen and daughter Susan, Mount Brydges; Mrs. Art Hutchinson, Parkhill and Mrs. Jack Ryan, London. There was a program of addresses with Mr. McMaster acting as chairman and Gerald Schenk replying on behalf of his parents. Fri., May 9 Big 500 Stag LUCAN U.C.W. The Evening Unit of Lucan United Church Women were guests of the Friendship Unit last Tuesday evening at Lucan United Church, after each Unit had had a short business session. Ladies of the U.C.W. Wesley United Church, London, were also visitors for the program. Worship service was conducted by Mrs. T. W. Somerville and Mrs. Ross Holden. Mrs. Telford Walls, guest speaker, gave a most interesting talk on Mexico and South America. She showed slides she had taken during a recent visit and exhibited a large number of interesting articles made by the natives en route. Dessert, with tea or coffee, was served by members of the Friendship Unit. UC CHURCH SERVICE Rev. W. C. Tupling was in charge of the Sunday morning service at Lucan United Church, He continued the series of sermons, "Who is this Jesus?" with "Jesus, the Jewish Messiah." Next Sunday, May 4, services at Lucan and Clandeboye United Churches will be taken by Rev. John King of Woodham. Mr. Tupling will be taking Anniversary Service there, Sunday May 11 is Christian Family Sunday, and the Sacrament of Infant Baptism will be celebrated. LUCAN HI-C The Hi-C held their regular meeting at Lucan United Church last Sunday with 11 members present and Bert Walker in the chair. Betty Park and Denise Daley led the worship service and Jeannette Barr served lunch, Final arrangements were made to hold a dance, COUPLES' CLUB Trinity Couples' Club met on Wednesday with Rev. R. A, Carson in the chair. Jim Shipley read the scripture arid opened with prayer. During the business portion of the meeting it was decided that the group should hold a Rummage Sale, May 10 beginning at 11 a.m. After the business meeting, lunch was Saved by Mrs. Don Ankers. There were 17 members present and the roll call was answered with a cure for the blues and the payment of fees. Mrs. John Templeman is to present the Institute's trophy to the top triple trio from the three townships at the music festival Friday evening. Members were reminded of the District Annual May 20. Mrs. Chappel presented a paper on the motto, "Too many square meals make too many people round." Mrs. Robert McCaughey favoured with a piano instrumental. Mrs. John Templeman gave a reading from Miss Ethel Chapman's book "From a Roadside Window." Mrs. Carter Kerslake presided for the installation of officers.
