Rev. R. Bissett of AvontOn, interim-moderator conducted communion service in Carmal Presbyterian Church Sunday. A number of the officers of Amber Rebekah Lodge No, 349 visited Edeliveiss Rebekah Lodge, Seaforth, Monday evening and presented the travelling gavel to the Lodge. MacLean and Miss Disher were guests with the former's sonand daughter-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Wm. J. MacLean and sons in Exeter last week. The property of Mrs. Louise Simpson on King Street has been sold to John Petty of Toronto, a former area resident. Mr. Petty gets possession May 15. Fred Funk is a patient in Victoria Hospital, London. Mrs. Elsie Case is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London, having been admitted Sunday, Samuel Thompson of Kippen area who has been a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter, was admitted to St. Joseph's Hospital, London, Sunday. Karen Garrett, 10, a patient in Clinton Public Hospital, was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Mrs. Gus Voth of Birmingham, Michigan, visited her mother, Mrs. L. Simpson over the weekend. Mr. & Mrs. Bryan Underwood of Gorrie were weekend visitors with Mrs. John Henderson and family. Flt/Lt John R. Beer of Winnipeg, who is taking a six week course at Camp Borden spent the weekend with his Hensall Hi-C hear speaker Dr. Roger Whitman, Seaforth, was guest speaker at the Hi-C youth meeting Sunday evening. He told of his work with Crossroads Africa showing pictures of his experiences there, especially his • work at the Mission Hospital in Nairolii. Special guests were the Hi-C group from Zurich. By MRS. FRED BOWDEN An impressive service was held in the United Church Sunday morning when the IOOF and Rebekah Lodges held their annual church parade. Rev. Wilson was assisted in conducting the service by Messrs Ben Fisher and Robert Blair. Rev. Wilson delivered a challenging message to his listeners using for his subject, "Perplexed but not in despair". Ushers were James Scott and Pat Soldan. Mrs. Pat Soldan was the organist for the service. PERSONALS Miss Helen Hicks of California was a visitor during the past week with her sister-in-law, Mrs. Lorne Hicks and with her mother, Mrs. Andrew Hicks in South Huron Hospital. Her husband predeceased her in March 1967. Surviving are two sisters Isabel, Stratford; Mrs. Mae • McLellan, RR 1 Hensall; four brothers, Clifford, Exeter; Wilson, Kirkton; William, Hensall; Tom, RR1 Hensall. Public funeral service will take place from the Bonthron Funeral Home, Hensall, today (Thursday) with Rev. Harold F. Currie officiating. Burial will be in McTaggart's Cemetery. Hensall farmer dies in hospital Lloyd G. McLean, RR 1, Hensall, passed away Tuesday evening in South Huron Hospital in his 64th year. Surviving are his wife, the former Agnes Wren and several nieces and nephews. • The deceased farmed at Chiselhurst for some years before retiring to Hensall. The body is resting at the Bonthron Funeral Home, Mensal], where public funeral service conducted by Rev. Harold F. Currie will be held • Friday, May 2 at 2 p.m. Burial is in McTaggarts Cemetery. Mrs. Harry Klungel returned Monday from a three week vacation spent with relatives in Holland. Carmel ladies planning sale The Arnold Circle of Carmel Presbyterian Church, Hensall, held their meeting April 21 at the home of Mrs. Lloyd Mousseau. President, Mrs. Don Mousseau opened the meeting in prayer, Mrs. Jim Bell and Mrs. Roy Bell led the worship using the topic "Planting and Reaping." Mrs. Gordon Schwalm gave her report of the Synodical which was held in Goderich. Each member was reminded to bring an article for the bake sale and one for the white elephant sale in May. Mrs. Mousseau closed the meeting with the benediction after which Mrs. Harold Knight led in a contest. Lunch was served by Mrs. Lloyd Mousseau and Mrs. Herb Stretton. Cookie sale big success Girl Guides and Brownies met at the Town Hall Saturday in Hensall for their annual cookie sale. Residents of Hensall responded nicely making it possible to sell a total of 240 boxes of cookies. Local children at musical show Last Thursday, local boys and girls participated in the annual music festival held in Main St. United Church, Mitchell. The adjudicator Mrs. D. A. McKeller, College of Music, University of Western Ontario, made encouraging comments and awarded Tony Kyle and Paul Reaburn each 82 marks in the Grade 4 piano solo class. Linda Bell received 82 in the Grade 5 piano solo class and a piano duet by Linda Bell and Linda Beer earned 80 marks. The mothers of all the contestants and their teacher, Miss Greta Lammie, attended the morning and afternoon sessions. Collect $318 for cancer Fifteen members of Hensall Kinsmen Club canvassed the village Thursday night and collected $318 for the Cancer fund. This is the best canvass, the Kinsmen report, for this project.
