Hensall couple wed 25 years A surprise party was held Saturday in honor of the 25th wedding anniversary of Mr. and • Mrs. Gordon Schwalm. The party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Scrabuik. Mr. Scrabuik is a brother of Mrs. Schwalm. Seventeen were present and tht happy couple were the recipients of many beautiful gifts from friends and relations. Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Don Coghlin and daughter Debbie, of Atwood; and Bill Scrabuik of Burwash Dept, of Reforms, who was home for the Easter holiday. A lovely card and gift was • • received from Mrs. Schwalm's mother in Port Arthur, • Rebekahs gift Barrie Home • A meeting of Hensall Rebekah Lodge was held Tuesday with Noble Grand Mrs. Earl Campbell presiding. The charter was draped in memory of Miss Violet Pearce, assembly secretary of Grand Lodge. Mrs. R.A. Orr reported visits made to residents of Queensway Nursing Home in March, with each of the 21 residents receiving an Easter gift. Mrs. Clarence Volland reported for the C.P. & T. successful euchre held in the Lodge Hall. It was announced that three wheel chairs, two walkers, and a number of crutches are in constant use in the community. The Past Grand's Jewel has been ordered and 15 veterans 20 years jewels have also been ordered. A donation to the president's project toward the piano at the I.O.O.F. The study on China was taken by Mrs. J. Flynn, who gave the ladies a peak into the lives of Chinese women. UCW entertains at Rest Home The UCW of Chiselhurst United Church entertained the residents at the Blue Water Rest Home, Zurich for the April birthday party. An Easter message was given by Mrs. Harold Parker, followed by an Easter hymn. A skit by four members was presented and concluded by singing "When You and I Were Young Maggie." A quartette comprising Misses Ruth Ann Coleman, Patsy Parker, Jean Cole and Shirley Brintnell contributed numbers. Cheryl Riley and Joanne Ross sang a duet. Miss Joanne Ross favoured with an organ instrumental accompanied by her grandmother, Mrs. Alf Ross at the piano. Step dancing by Miss Norris was very much enjoyed. A social hour followed the program and residents, having a birthday this month received gifts, All were treated to birthday cake and ice cream. Announcement was made of a special Presbyterial Day to be held in Goderich North Street United Church Tuesday. Winn ing team banquet guests The attendance contest of Kippen East WI climaxed with a turkey banquet held at the home of Mrs. Charles Eyre, Egmondville, Wednesday evening, The losing side captained by Mrs. M. Connolly served the supper and the winning side captained by Mrs. James Drummond provided the entertainment. Various contests and readings provided a great deal of merriment and six tables of euchre were in play. Winners were high, Mrs. Ross Broadfoot, Mrs. Wm Bell; low, Mrs. Joyce Cooper; lone hands, Mrs. Charles Eyre. A chocolate bunny was raffled off to provide $10 for the Bunny Bundle. Winner of the draw was Mrs. Rodger Hoornaert.
