A skit was presented by Misses Cindy and Cathy Parker, followed by a reading by Mrs. Harold Parker. Miss Cathy Parker favoured with a piano selection. The bride-elect was escorted to a decorated chair beneath flowered streamers. Dessert euchre draws crowd Amber Rebekah Lodge • sponsored a successful dessert euchre in the I.0.0,F. Lodge Hall Wednesday afternoon. Winners were Mrs. Elizabeth Riley, Mrs. R.M. Peck; travelling lone hands, Miss M. Ellis. A draw for a box of groceries went to Mrs. Elgin Thompson, RR 3 • Kippen; birthday nearest to date of euchre, Mrs. B. Baird, Brucefield. At the conclusion of the euchre, a sale of homemade baking was held. Bell sisters pass figures Miss Pauline Bell was successful in passing a set of figures and completed a set of dances Sunday at St, Thomas Figure Skating Club. This makes Pauline a three time Silver Medalist. Miss Troyann Bell was successful in passing a set of dances, making Troyann a three time bronze medalist. The girls are daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Bell. Their professional is Gerrold Woodstrom of Galt. Hensall pai▪ r celebrate event Mr. and Mrs. Orville Taylor were entertained to a family dinner at the Dominion Hotel, Zurich, Saturday evening on the occasion of their 45th wedding anniversary. A Social evening of cards was enjoyed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Percy Wright. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Wm Butson, Mr. and Mrs. Percy Wright, Mr. and Mrs. James Taylor, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Taylor and families, and Mrs. Dave Triebner chaired the program. Roll call was "An Industry in which women participate". Mrs. Clarence Volland reported for the C.P.T. committee stating a donation had been sent to the Bunny Bundle fund. The next regular meeting will be held Tuesday, April 1 as an invitation was accepted to attend Brussels Banquet and meeting April 2 when the Assembly President s Mrs. Marion Wilkie makes her official visit. Amber Lodge will participate in draping the charter. Representatives to attend the district meeting are Mrs. Pearl Eyre, Mrs. Hazel Corbett and Mrs. Margaret Ingram. Arrangements were made for Mrs. Pearl Eyre as representative and Mrs. Hazel Corbett as scholar to attend the Grand Lodge sessions in Toronto in June and to order the Past Grand's Jewel. It was suggested the members visit Edelweiss Lodge, Seaforth, April 28 and present the travelling gavel. Bowling teams at Walkerton Two bowling teams from Hensall Legion Ladies Auxiliary participated in a bowling tournament at Walkerton Wednesday. The team composed of Mrs. Clarence Reid (Captain), Mrs. Harold Campbell, Mrs. Vic Stan, Mrs. R. Vanstone, Mrs. Annie Horton and Mrs. Howard Smale captured third prize. Each lady won an electric heating pad. Mrs. Vic Stan also won in the high triple of 651 and was presented with a salad bowl set. Mrs. Mary Taylor, 81, was presented with a lovely floral arrangement for being the oldest bowler there. Mrs. Grant McClinchey, Mrs. Wm. Smale, Mrs. Garnet Allan, Mrs. Gordon Munn, Mrs. Mary Taylor and Mrs. Hilda Smale formed the second team with Mrs. McClinchey as captain, VISITS PATIENTS Hensall Kinsmen and Kinette Clubs were in Goderich Wednesday evening to entertain patients at the Ontario Hospital. NORMAN 1-ONG The theme of the Kippen UCW meeting was "Brotherhood" with the worship service conducted by Mrs. Edison McLean, emphasizing the richness of the world with the varied peoples and races. She said we fall far short of God's plan that we have mutual respect and opportunity for all. Mrs. Robert Elgie conducted the business with ti'e various reports being given. Approval was given for the purchase of a projector and screen for the use of the UCW and Sunday School. A skit presented by Mrs. Robert Elgie, Mrs. Edison McLean and Mrs. Ken McKay emphasized the need for understanding of other faiths and a strengthening of personal Christian faith. Group discussion questioned real concern for World Brotherhood, Mrs. Gerald Moffatt brought By MRS. W. Mr. & Mrs. Stan Preszcator visited with Emery Pfaff who is a patient in Victoria Hospital, London. Kinsman and Mrs. J. Drummond. Business consisted of the branch directors being appointed to the nominating committee. Plans were laid for the banquet in Huron Centennial School April 15, the supper to conclude the sides contest to be held at Mrs. Charles Eyres' April 12. Mrs. Campbell Eyre gave the motto, "Life is like a bicycle — if you stop peddling you fall off". Mrs. Wm. Bell introduced the guest speaker, Mrs. Walter Spencer of Hensall who showed pictures she had taken while she was in England, Scotland and Ireland. She was thanked by Mrs. Dave Triebner. Mrs. H.A. Caldwell gave a poem and Mrs. Grant MacLean conducted a contest. Lunch was served by the hostesses, Mrs. Gerald Bell, Mrs. Glenn Bell and the committee, Mrs. M. Connolly, Mrs. Wm Bell, Mrs. S. Pepper and Mrs. G. MacLean. Area couple wed 30 years Relatives and friends had a surprise party for Mr. and Mrs. Robert P. Watson at the home of the bride's sister, Mrs. C. Christie on the occasion of the couple's wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. R. Watson of Seaforth were married March 24, 1939 in Seaforth by the late Rev. H.V. Workman of Northside United Church. Mrs. Watson is the former Lulu Webster. Mr. Watson has been a mail carrier for over 20 years and also drives a school bus. Relatives from Toronto, Kitchener, Galt, Seaforth, Brucefield and Hensall attended the anniversary dinner. The happy couple were the recipients of lovely gifts and good wishes.
