TMPLEMAN STAF FA The Hibbert United Church Women met in the Family Life Centre Wednesday, Mrs. Murray Christie presided. Meditation was read by Mrs, Lloyd Barker and Mrs. Oscar Reed and Mrs. Barker led in prayer. Musical selections of Tennessee Ernie Ford were enjoyed. Mrs. Andrew Christie gave an interesting talk on Indian missions in Canada and also displayed some of the articles they make and carve. Miss Vera Hambley presided for the business. Black Knights select officers On Wednesday night of last week the Royal Black Knights of Huron County met in annual meeting in the Blyth Orange Hall with a large attendance. The meeting was in charge of the County Master, Russell Page, Grand Bend. On special motion, P.C,M. Charles Stewart was appointed press reporter. NORMAN LONG A bridal shower was held Wednesday evening by friends and neighbours of the surrounding area honoring Karen Littleton whose marriage takes place April 5 in Hensall United Church. Mrs. Emerson Kyle and Mrs. Ross Broadfoot opened the evening followed by a sing-song of old favorites. Mrs. Keith Lovell and Mrs. Orville Workman entertained the guests with a few games. Mrs. Eldin Kerr read a poem in honour of the bride-to-be. Miss Kathy Bell and Miss Louise Kirk presented gifts from friends and relatives. Mrs. Jack Bell presented the honoured guest with a hat of ribbons and bows. Karen thanked all for the many useful gifts and lunch was served by the ladies in charge. MESSENGERS The Woodham Messengers held their meeting in the church March 17 with 27 members and one visitor present. The theme was Easter. Karen Insley and Mary Lou Thomson were pianists. Readings were given by David Tomlinson and Karen Insley. Lori Webb led in prayer and Nancy Jaques read the scripture. Janet and Margaret Parkinson favoured with a vocal duet and Elizabeth Levy played a piano solo. Cheryl Brine and Christine Tomlinson received the offering. Mrs. Wm. Dickey read a study book story on China. Mrs. G. Copeland led in Bible Study dealing with Lent and read a St. Patrick's story. Mrs. Wm. Dickey had charge of the business, All the children took part in making St. Patrick's Day cards after which everyone joined in playing games and relays. Father Groome this week for renewal services and prayers. Several ladies from this area attended the World Day of Prayer last week held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Grand Bend. The parish party celebrating St. Patrick's Day and held in Dashwood Community Centre last Friday evening was a great success, Mr. & Mrs. Nick Jeromkin and family visited relatives in Toronto last weekend. Save infant from blaze By GORDON MORLEY BRINSLEY When a trailer home furnace of Mr. & Mrs. Allen Amos exploded Tuesday, quick action of the mother saved the life of their infant daughter, Kimberly Jean. The infant was carried to safety minutes before the home burst into flames destroying many of their belongings, A small amount was salvaged by Joe Amos and Laverne Daley, a neighbour. The fire engine responded to the call. PERSONALS Brinsley United Church Sunday School held their Sunday School meeting Thursday evening at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Steeper. A number of Sudbury school students who arrived Thursday evening by train to visit students. in this area left for home Saturday evening. The students were taken on a tour to Port Blake to see the filtration plant of Lake Huron water supply to London, and also visited beef, dairy and chicken farms. The hosts in an exchange visit of students in May to the Sudbury district hopes to visit mines in that locality. Carol and Linda Robinson, Susan Morley and John Lee were among the students of North Middlesex High School who left Friday evening and returned Thursday from a trip to New York. Mrs. Cliff Kenny was in charge of the worship service. Mrs. Douglas Warren conducted an exciting Bible word-hunt, then led a Bible discussion. Mrs. Earl Neil, president, took charge of the business. A bolt of flannelette has been donated to the UCW. It was decided to make layettes for overseas relief.
