Lunch was served by committee in charge, Mr. & Mrs. Ray Cottle and Mr. & Mrs. Harold Rowe. A social time was had after the service. BRINSLEY World Day of Prayer service was held in Brinsley United Church with St. Marys Anglican Women participating. The theme "Growing Together in Christ" was presented by Mrs. H.B. Johnson of Ailsa Craig. Five leaders taking part in the service were Mrs. Wm Fenton, Mrs. Bill Dixon, Mrs. Wilfred Dixon, Mrs. Earl Morley and Mrs. Jack Trevithick. Mrs. Harvey Hodgins sang a solo. There were 17 ladies present. Lunch was served at the close of the service. CENTRALIA "Growing Together in Christ" was the theme for the World Day of Prayer. The service, prepared by women in Africa, was observed in the schoolroom of the United Church Thursday evening with ladies from Zion West and Saintsbury as guests. Mrs. Sam Skinner, Mrs. Ron Swartz, Mrs. Cliff Rollings, Mrs. Harry Horn and Mrs. Robert Hem were assisted by Rev. Wilson in leading the service. Mrs. Skinner, in her opening remarks, extended a welcome to the visitors. Each of the topics "A Period for Prayer," "A Time For Thinking' and "Some Acts of Commitment" were introduced by Rev. Wilson, He stressed the importance of prayer and said it Should be a ladder to heaven With the lowest rung asking for help, the second expressing thankfulness and so on up the ladder. "Thinking," true thinking is systematic attention given to e problem. God calls upon everyone to give not only hearts but minds as well. In respect to Church membership, Christians Should be loyal to the Commitments they have made. A poem Was read by Mrs. Harvey Stnith. A duet was sung by Mrs. Russell Wilson and Mrs. Vic Drought With Mrs. Ken Hodgins playing the piano accompaniment. Mrs, Prank Hicks and Mrs. Roes McFalls received the offering. St. Paul's Fellowship Club held an executive meeting at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Bill Waghorn, Sunday evening. Plans were made for future meetings. Mrs. Allan Collie of London is spending a few days with her daughter and family, Mr. & Mrs. Don Adams, Brock, Mark and baby Clark. Annual meet cif Eliirville The annual meeting was held at the Elimville church Friday night beginning with a pot luck supper. Ftev. Stewart Miner presided for the business portion of the meeting. Reports from all organizations were presented which revealed a favourable year for all. Elected to the session were Mrs. Beatrice Woods, Delmer Skinner, Squire Herdman, Gilbert Johns, Howard Johns and Howard Pym. Board of Ste*ards elected were Lewis Johns, Gordon Ford, Lome Elford, Franklin Skinner, Beverly Parsons, Ross Skinner, John Batten and Squire Herdman. Church trustees elected were Elson Lynn, Amos Herdman, John Ridley, Philip Johns and. Harold Bell. Miss Ruth Skinner will be M & M treasurer and Bruce Delbridge envelope steward for 1969. It was decided to send the Observer into every home. Next communion service will be observed April 13. EUCHRE PARTY The Elimville Women's Institute held their euchre party at Usborne Central School Monday evening with 22 tables playing. Winners were ladies' high, Mrs. Heber Shute; ladies' low, Mrs. Theron Creery; gent's high, Harold Bell. gents' low, Arthur Nutt; lone hands, Philip Hem. The box of groceries was won by Mrs. Garnet Hicks. PERSONALS A number of ladies attended the World's Day of Prayer at Thames Road United Church. A film strip "Growing together in Christ", history of the World Day of Prayer from • inception in 1918 to 1968, was shown. Mrs. E. Rowe in charge in the projector, and Mrs. Alderdice was the narrator. A cup of tea honoring the 50th anniversary of the World Day of Prayer was served. CRE DITON Friday afternoon the World Day of Prayer service was held in Crediton United Church. Mrs. Earl Neil, Mrs. Lorne Hodge, Mrs. Howard Zurbrigg, Mrs. Ross Pickering and Mrs, G.E. Wenzel were leaders of the service, with Mrs. Russell Finkbeiner • providing music on the piano. Mrs. Charlie Browning and Mrs. John Buxton sang a duet. The speaker, Mrs. Andrew Blackwell of Zurich, was introduced by Mrs. Zurbrigg. Her theme was "Growing Together in Christ in Christian Fellowship and in Devotion to Service." Mrs. Douglas Warren thanked Mrs. Blackwell for her message. THAMES ROAD The World Day of Prayer service was held in Thames Road Church with Elimville ladies as guests. Mrs. William Rohde was in charge of the service with Mrs. Gilbert Johns, Mrs. Howard Pym, Mrs, Lloyd Ballantyne and Mrs. Edwin Miller assisting. Mrs. Floyd Stewart spoke on the Subject "Growing Together In Christ." Mrs. Ross Skinner sang a solo accompanied by Mrs. Philip Johns. Mrs. Arehie Etheritigton and Mrs. Ross Hodgert took up the offering. Mrs. William Cane provided the Music for the service. ay MRS. IRVIN RADER DASHWOOD The March meeting of Dashwood WI was in the charge of the home economics group. with Mrs. Ervin Devine Convener. Roll call was answered by giving a safety hint in the 'home, Mrs. Stuart Wolfe discussed the motto: "Many a wreck is caused by an empty train of thought." Mrs. Jean Pulham of London was guest speaker, She is a representative of Standard Brand Co. and she spoke about daily • food and a, balanced diet. She showed slides on the "History of Bread" and supplied the lunch which was open-faced fancy sandwiches made from different breads. Mrs. Glen Webb presided for the business. Mrs. Howard Maier will attend an executive workshop in Mitchell, March 27. Mrs. Hugh Boyle was appointed a delegate to the Guelph Convention. The institute is canvassing for The Red Cross during March. • INFANT BAPTIZED Ross Earl, infant son of Mr. & Mrs. Earl Keller was baptized in Zion Lutheran Church Sunday, March 9 by Rev. E. E. Steinman. Mr. & Mrs, Murray Keller were sponsors. • MUSIC RESULTS Miss Idella Gabel ARCT announces the results of her pupils in the winter examinations at the conservatories: Grade 9 piano, Mary Theresa McCann pass; grade 8 piano, Joanne McCann, • pass. Both exams were with the Royal conservatory. With the Western Conservatory; grade 8 piano, honors, Joanne Hayter, Marlene Rader, and Elizabeth Kennedy (partial); Grade 2 theory, first class honors, Carol Gascho (100). For turning in a perfect paper Miss Gascho will receive a silver medal from the Conservatory.
