McEwen, 75, McGillivray, passed away in Victoria Hospital, London, March 2. He is survived by his Wife, Olive (Lee) McEwen;,two sons, George of McGillivray and Donald at home; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Anderson, Ailsa Craig; four grandchildren, Mrs, Bill (Marion) Lunsden, Strathroy; Mrs. Gordon (Cheryl) Haskins, London; Mrs. Albert (Arlene) Walter, Goderich; and, Ross McEwen, McGillivray; five great grandchildren. Service was Tuesday from the Ilaskett Funeral Home, Lucan, with the Rev. W.C. Tupling officiating. Interment was at Mars Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Clifford Charlton, Lyle Anderson, Lyell Lee, Gordon Hotson, John Batson and Clifford Simpson. Flowerbearers were George Simpson and Rea Neil. The deceased was the son of John and Bell (Chariton) McEwen and lived all his life in McGillivray Township. He worked in his father's apiary until moving 48 years ago to his last address. Mrs, Mildred Crinnian, Guelph, spent Friday as a guest of Mrs, Omar Cunningham. Mrs. Elmer Hendrie's guests were her daughter and family., Mr. and Mrs. Bill Downing and daughter Joan. Mr. & Mrs. Wilmer Scott returned home Sunday from a two week motor trip to Florida. While there they visited Mr. & Mrs. Rea Hodgins, RR 1 Clandeboye, and also Clayton Hodgins who resides in Florida. Wednesday Mrs. Elmer Hendrie, Mrs. Karl O'Neil and Mrs. Cecil Carter visited Rev. and Mrs. E, O. Lancaster in Forest. Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Millson attended the 50th wedding anniversary Wednesday of Mr. & Mrs. Will Tookey in London. Guests with Mr. & Mrs. Millson Sunday were Mr, & Mrs. Dutch McKenzie and son, London. Mrs. Margaret Poole, London, underwent surgery Monday in Victoria Hospital, Mrs. John McEwen remains a patient in Victoria Hospital. F of A banquet in Crediton By MISS ELLA MOR LOCK CREDITON The annual banquet of the Federation of Agriculture was held Thursday evening, February 27, in the community hall. After the turkey dinner catered to by the North Group of the Women's Institute, there was a program under the chairmanship of Harry Sheppard, president of the Federation. Bob Henry, first vice-president of the County organization, conducted the business and explained how the Federation works within the county. Vincent Glaab and Lorne Allen provided music, Vincent on his accordion and Lorne Allen with his violin. Mr. Allen was accompanied by Mrs. Sorensen. Arnold McCann moved a vote of thanks to the ladies of the Women's Institute and Mrs. Harvey Hodgins responded. Jim li ay te r, warden, brought greetings from the county. Doug McNeil dealt with the matter of crop insurance. Guest speaker, Art Bolton of Seaforth, was introduced by Ken Baker. Mr. Bolton showed slides taken during his six-week tour of Europe last year. A large and appreciative audience was present. PERSONALS Mr. & Mrs. Ross Krueger and Mr. & Mrs. Robert Crawford were guests at the wedding of Donald Krueger and Donna Greenwood at Queensville Saturday afternoon. The ceremony took place in Queensville United Church with a reception following in Sharon Hall, adjacent to the historic Sharon Temple. Crediton's churches held congregational meetings last week to discuss further the possibility of forming a single, new congregation in the village. Crediton United held their meeting Tuesday. WELLWOOD GILL The 4-H Club, Grand Bend Tenderizers met at the home of Mrs. Wm. Schlegel last week. The evening began with "Swiss Steak". A discussion on cooking meat was conducted while the steak was cooking. The club will visit Wally Des Jardine's Meat Market and observe the different cuts of meat. March 20 they will visit Schneider's Meats in Kitchener. Leaders are Mrs. H. Harms and Mrs. Wm. Schlegel. Greenway folk see "whiz kids" GREENWAY The play "The Whiz Kids" by several Arkona people was presented in the Anglican Hall to a full house Friday evening. This was a very good play and created Many laughs. It was sponsored ► by the Willing Worker's Class of the United Church. The community was • saddened Saturday after hearing of the sudden death of Clarence Ayotte, 19, son of Mr. & Mrs. Milford Ayotte.
