Budget $77,500
for library use
Huron County's share in the ▪ library budget for 1969 will be
$77,500 reported Clarence
`Derry' Boyle, reeve of Exeter
and chairman of the library
committee, Friday.
Total budget is for $145,000
with the province paying the
greatest share of the remaining
• money although a small amount
of it will be received through
fines.
A library has been established
once more in Gorrie, in the
home of William Strong.
The committee reported
discussion on whether or not to
continue library service in the
schools since most schools have
excellent libraries of their own.
County librarian Carolyn Croke
Will review the subject and
report to the committee before
the next meeting.
"As much as possible,"
• library services will be rendered
to Canadian Forces Base,
Clinton, in the future.
In answer to a neestion from
ileeve A.D. Smith, Turnberry,
regarding remunerations for
librarians in the smaller centres,
Miss Croke said librarians are
• paid according to the size of the
municipality in which the library
is situated, the number of hours
the library is open, the people
actually served and in general,
the amount of responsibility the
librarian takes.
