Martin O'Rourke is enjoying a holiday in sunny Florida for the past two weeks. John Campbell is visiting in Windsor and Detroit with Mr. & Mrs. Urban Ayotte and family for a couple of weeks. Mrs. Rae Neil read a letter from the provincial secretary giving details of the officers conference to be held April 30-May 1 in. Guelph. Mrs. Norman Hardy will be the delegate from Clandeboye. Mrs. Allan Hill gave her report on the district executive meeting. Two dollars will be given to Mrs. Ritchie toward the expenses of the district public relations officer to the conference. Mrs. M, J, Simpson, convener of home economics and health, was in charge of the program assisted by Mrs. J. Donaldson giving hints on how to make salads nutritious and delicious. Mrs. Roy Cunningham gave the safety report for 1968 and read a poem. Mrs. Simpson gave an interesting paper "Don't be a victim of the rackets." Mrs. Donaldson won the hostess prize. The March meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Wilmer Scott. By MRS. EUCHRE PARTY Eighteen tables were taken up by the players at the euchre last week sponsored by the Dashwood WI. Winners were, Mrs. John Rader and Sid Neeb; low, Mrs. Arnold Becker and Charles Martine; lone hands, Arnold Becker. MRS. EFFIE KLEINSTIVER Mrs. Effie Kleinstiver, 83, of Dashwood, • widow of the late Wm. Kleinstiver passed away at and a skit was put on by the ladies who attended the Huron-Perth Presbyterial at Mitchell. President Mrs. Wm Sturdevant presided for the business. An invitation from Calvary UCW Dashwood to attend their meeting in October was accepted. Two bake sales were planned for July 18 and August 8. It was voted to send $50 each to Doreen Baker R.N., The Irwins and Rev. Paul Webb. After some discussion the ladies decided not to send flowers to shut-ins in hospital this year. A card will be mailed and the money that was spent on flowers in previous years will be used for mission work. WI The Grand Bend Women's Institute held the February meeting Thursday in the town hall. It was a dessert meeting. Mrs. Alan Parker, health convener, was in charge. Jams and jellies were donated for South Huron Hospital, Exeter. Roll call was an old fashioned remedy. Motto "Medicine's greatest problem today is Success" was given by Mrs. Alan Parker. Mrs. Wm Love, vice-president, presided for the business. Group 2 is having a Hobo Tea during the month of March. Plans are being made for a bus trip in May. Dessert was served by Mrs. Wm Love, Mrs. Les Adams, Mrs. mElogrinenz A. dams and Mrs. Hugh CORYELL A. E. ROBERTS Coryeil A.E. Roberts, 72, Grand Bend, formerly of London, passed away Tuesday in Victoria Hospital, He is survived by his wife, the former Vera A. Saich; two daughters, Mrs. Harold E. (Hazel) Parkes and Mrs. Gerald It (Marilyn) Ferrington both of London; two sons, Ken of Grand Bend and Jack of Montreal; and o)neesitister, Mrs. Alta Turpin, t tro Funeral service was conducted by Rev. G.E. Morrow at the Needham Memorial Chapel, London, Friday. Interment was in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. ENOCH W. (PAT) PATON Enoch W. (Pat) Paton passed away in Cleveland last Tuesday at the age of 75 years, His wife, the former Florence Sullivan, predeceased him. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. June Kosterko and Mrs. Florence (Tess) Soeder; three grandchildren and one brother, Earl A. Paton, London, Another daughter, Gloria Jean also predeceased him. Funeral service was Friday at St. Thomas Aquinos Church, Interment was in Calvary Cemetery. The deceased was the son of the late Andrew and Catherine (Conner) Paton. He has resided in Cleveland since 1912. JAMES HORNELL James Hornell, 42, passed away at his home in Buchans, Newfoundland, February 13. Formerly of Kirkland Lake, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hornell, Clandeboye. He is survived by his wife, the former Marion Yetman; two sons, Jimmy and David and one daughter, Jane, at home; one sister, Mrs, Maurice (Margaret) Hettrick, Kirkland Lake. The funeral service was held in the Anglican Church at South Huron Hospital, Sunday, February 23. She was the former Effie Willert. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Flossie) Cudmore and Mrs. Norman (Ruth) Scott, both of Willowdale; two sons, Percy, Aurora, Ill. and Lorne, Dashwood; three sisters, Mrs. Robert (Bertha) Hayter, Zurich; Mrs. Thomas (Rose) Isaac, Greenway; Mrs. Bert (Pearl) Statton, Toronto; and one brother, William, Zurich. Service was held Wednesday from the T. Harry Hoffman funeral home with Rev. E. E. Steinman in charge. Interment was made in Zion Lutheran cemetery. Pallbearers were George Tieman, Albert Rader, Allan Kleinstiver, Peter Kleinstiver, Owen Scott and Bruce Leeson. Flowerbearers were Michael Tieman, Harvey Eagleson, Erwin Ratz and Harry Hayter. PERSONALS " Mr. & Mrs. Alvin Walper were Sunday visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Lorne Becker, Diane, Roy and Wayne. The occasion was Wayne's second birthday. Sunday visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Rader and Darlene were Mr. & Mrs. Wendell Gamble and family of London, and Mr. & Mrs.. Glen Rader and Heather. Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Howe and girls of London spent Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Irvin Rader and family, Mrs. Henry Eagleson, Mrs. Wes Wolfe and Mr. & Mrs. Stuart Wolfe visited with Mr. & Mrs. Eric Wolfe and Tracey of London, Sunday. Minors split with Irish Minor hockey clubs from Lucan and Exeter split a Shamrock league triple header at the Exeter arena, Wednesday night. In the opener, the Lucan pee wees were victorious by a score of 4-0, the bantam clubs from the two towns played to a 1.1 draw in the second contest and the Exeter midgets gained a 5-0 decision in the nightcap. In the first round of Shamrock playoffs, Exeter and Lambeth meet in a best-of-seven bantam series while Lambeth, Lucan and Exeter pee wee and midget clubs will participate in a round robin series. Lucan pee wee and midget clubs were in Exeter last night, Wednesday in the opening games, while the three local teams travel to Lambeth tomorrow night, Friday. Lambeth will be back in Exeter on Wednesday, March 5. Randy English led the Lucan scoring attack in their 4-0 pee wee win over Exeter in the first of three games of the night. Adding single scores were Jeff Culbert and P. Holland. COME FROM BEHIND The Exeter No. 2 bantams were forced to come from behind to gain a 1.1 tie with Lucan in the middle game of the night. Defenceman Ron Crudge scored on an unassisted effort at the five minute mark of the second period to account for the Lucan score while Wayne Brintnell scored for Exeter with Randy Tiernan providing the assist. Larry Bourne scored twice to head up the Exeter Kinsmen midget scoring in their 5.0 romp over Lucan. Other Exeter goals were fired in single fashion by Ron Lin de»field, Brian BeStarcl and Bob Parsons. Bob Rowe picked up two assists for the locals while Joe O'Rourke, Ron Janke, Larry Haugh and Brian Bestard each assisted on one occasion. Buchans with Rev. Lee in charge assisted by Rev. Anderson of the Presbyterian Church and Rev, Woodford of the Roman Catholic Church February 15. Interment was in Buchans. Rev. Woodford who had worked with the deceased, an enthusiastic supporter of boys' clubs in Buchans, delivered the message. Hundreds of cards and telegrams were received by the family after Mr. Hornell's death. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hornell attended the funeral and have returned home. 4-H Twelve 4-H girls met Saturday under the guidance of Mrs. R.B. Worthington and Mrs. L. Mohr, During the cooking class the girls made salmon casserole, Shirriffs Good Morning Marmalade Tang Florida cabbage salad, sardine filling on crackers, chocolate macaroons and lemonade. PERSONALS Mr, & Mrs, Mervin carter visited Mr. & Mrs, Carlyle Carter Wednesday afternoon in London. Saturday Mrs. Bill Walden, Chatham, visited her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Mervin Carter and Ian Carter. Mrs. Alvin Cunningham returned home after visiting her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Manson, Mary and John, Simeoe, The Clandeboye Guild of St. James Church has been quilting this winter. Attendance has doubled at the St. James Sunday School since the space contest began.
