OLD-FASHIONED SLEIGH RIDE Kids and youngsters lucky enough to attend Hensall fun day
sponsored by the Hensall Legion and the Legion Auxiliary during the weekend had an opportunity to
enjoy an old-fashioned sleighride. The hay may have been baled and not warm and loose but the
atmosphere was just as exciting as it was when grampa was a boy. T-A photo

the Blyth team, giving Hensall a
two game lead over the northern
team in a best of five WOAA

On Hensall ice Friday, the
locals scored a decisive 6.1 win
and squeezed out a 2-1 victory
in Blyth, Sunday.

but not probable. As stated
above, regional government will
be established in districts with a
minimum population of 150,000
to 200,000. Huron County does
not have anywhere near that
number of people. Huron
County will become part of a
larger regional area.
In the case of a joint planning
area (of which Huron County
will be a part when regional
planning takes place), a certain
municipality is made a
"designated municipality." The
designated municipality must be
able to provide services and
assistance for planning.
In his speech, Mr. McKeough
said that minimum populations
for local municipalities will be
8,000 to 10,000 in the new
regions. Therefore, no centre in
Huron County would have
enough people to remain a
municipality within the new
regions. Thus, I don't think any
Huron County town would be
made a designated municipality.
Stratford, I think, would be the
best choice in this area.
I don't think there is any
basis for your suggestion that
Huron County would be favored
"as a possible centre for any
further regional government",
even if Goderich did have both
the County Administrative
offices and School Board offices,
Therefore, this suggestion is
more or less meaningless, in my
opinion.
I also noted somewhat of a
contradiction between section
(4) of the motion and the
second paragraph in the
preamble to the motion dealing
with the County School Board.
The second paragraph states: , . . . in making any
recommendations on renting
(the second floor of the
Administrative Building) to the
School Board or anyone else,
such an arrangement would have
to be on a year to year basis so
that space would be available to
the County when required."
Yet section (4) of the
recommendations, states:
blinked the red light for three
goals in the first period. Blyth
seemed to have trouble
organizing an attack with much
steam, although, they did miss
on a couple of good
opportunities.
The second period started off
with another red light for Jamie
Caldwell at 1:05 and the game
seemed to slow down. At 9:15
Donald Carter of Blyth blinked
the light and Blyth seemed to
take on new life.
It seemed to be of no avail, at
15:05 Jamie now had his hat
trick for the night,
In the third period, the Blyth
team made every effort to get
back in the game, but things just
didn't work out. At 15:03 Jamie
blinked the light again and the
game ended. Garry Koehler
assisted on three of the goals,
while Paul Winsor, Danny
Winsor and Steve Knight assisted
on he other goals. Only one
penalty was handed out, Ken
Ritchie of Blyth for charging.
HENSALL 2 - BLYTH 1
On Sunday afternoon, the
Hensall team journeyed to Blyth
for their second game. The Blyth
team were anxious to even the
score after their defeat in
Hensall. At the end of a tight
first period, Ronnie Blunkett of
"Facilities are available on
County property for future
expansion and the present
building has been designed for
such expansion should it be
required in the future."
On the one hand the
committee seem to be saying
that if the School Board does
establish its offices in the
County Administrative Building,
and the County needs the space
in the future, the Board would
have to relocate.
On the other hand, the
committee says that if necessary
there is room for expansion. So,
if the Board did locate its offices
in the Administrative Building,
and the County needed
additional space, the building
would have to be expanded, at
the expense of the taxpayers.
Wouldn't it be simpler to
locate the offices in some centre
where a building is available (and
perhaps even subsidized)? Then,
if the county needed extra
space, it could move into the
second floor of the
Administrative Building, and no
one would have to relocate, and
the taxpayers wouldn't be
burdened with heavier taxes
since expansion wouldn't be
necessary?
•
Blyth had scored the only goal
at 8:40.
The second period started out
to be much the same as the first.
)Rut Jamie Caldwell got a break
away and blinked the light at
11:22 unassisted. Just before the
end of the period, Jamie scored
again on a passing play from
Steve Knight. The third period,
both teams gave it everything
they had, but neither team were
able to change the score board.
There were four penalties
handed out during the game,
flensall's two were picked up by
John Charrett for hooking and
holding the puck. Blyth's
penalties went to Terry Pierce
for tripping and David Rodger
for tripping.
The third game to be played
in Hensall Friday night 7 p.m.
Fourth game in Blyth Sunday
afternoon at 4 p.m. and if a fifth
game is required, it will be
played in Blyth, time to be
announced.
