Wilmar Wein and Cecil Desjardine were in Hamilton last Monday and Tuesday for the convention of the Ontario Association of Rural Municipalities. The chief topic of discussion was regional government. Last Monday the family of Mrs. Jacob Ratz were at the Bluewater Rest Home, Zurich, to celebrate Mrs. Ratz's birthday. Mrs. Emerson Bowden, Windsor and Mrs. Ray Collett, Toronto, came for the occasion. Mrs. Ray Morlock, Mrs, Lorne Morlock, Mrs. Gordon Ratz, Mrs. Freeman Morlock and Mrs. Chris Dinner were at the shower for Susan Dinney at the home of Mr. & Mrs, Ross Tuck ey , Exeter, Sunday afternoon. A trip to Merner's abattoir is planned for Thursday evening to see the cutting of meat. Dashwood Meat Grinders Homemaking Club No. 2 visited Merner's Abattoir last week to see the cutting up of meat. Members completed their meeting at the community centre, Discussion was on the different meats and food values. LADIES AID The February meeting of Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid was held Wednesday, February 12 at the home of Mrs. Milford Merner with Group 4 and Mrs. Leonard Schenk convener in charge of devotions and lunch. Rev. E. E. Steinman had part two of the Altar Guild guide. The president, Mrs. Lorne Genttner, dealt with the business. It was decided to visit the Bluewater Rest Home in June. The Big R Mission movie will be shown at the April meeting. Bus trips were discussed but no decision was made. The Altar Guild is Mrs. Lorne Genttner and Mrs. Fred Schroeder. Mrs. Colin Love conducted the opening worship assisted by Mrs. W. Gill. Mrs. DesJardins gave the study book chapter on China. Mrs. Wm. Love, unit leader, presided for the business. Thank you letters were read from The Irwins and Miss Doreen Baker for their Christmas boxes from the UCW. Roll call was answered with Bible verse. Members were asked to bring articles for a layette. Mrs. Rosa Grigg reported that the Green Acres ladies had sent quilts and clothing to a family near Arkona who had lost all their belongings in a fire. Lunch was served by Mrs. Elgin Webb and Mrs. Wellington Baker. Mr, & Mrs. Earl Dixon returned home Thursday after spending the past three weeks at the home of their son, Edward Dixon and family in Grimsby. On the way home they called on Amos Wright in the Woodstock General Hospital. Mr. & Mrs. V. Overholt, Martin, Elaine and Pauline spent Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Armand Bedour and family in Goderich. IRVIN RADER The February meeting of the UCW of Calvary United Church was a work day at which much was accomplished by the ladies. Quilting which continued into the evening, bandages were rolled and hospital gowns were made. A bale of used clothing was also packed. The kitchen received a thorough house cleaning. The busy afternoon was following by a tasty pot luck supper. Mrs. Lloyd Eagleson was in charge of the evening program and read a short devotional selection. Mrs. Jack Gaiser read the scripture and Mrs. Eben Weigand favoured with a selection of poetry, It was decided to visit the Bluewater Rest Home in March. 4-H MEETINGS Club No. 1 held the first meeting with 13 girls and the leaders Mrs. Gordon Bender and Mrs. Stuart Wolfe. Election of officers resulted with president, Olga Zemetis; vice-president, Darlene Rader; secretary, Diane Becker; treasurer, Debbie Riddell. They decided to call their club "Dashwood Dainty Diners". Books were handed out and the course discussed. The second meeting was held with 10 girls present. Roll call was answered by naming a favourite meat dish. Notes were handed out and read.
